Bad move SE. Way to go alienating your player base.
Only question I got is, is it possible to share the house with someone else ... as in that other someone would be able to modify it
There's this from several months ago: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...34#post2110434
But it only says they were "looking into it," which, by this point, you can translate as "We're not going to deliver on it because we can't find a way to make it work - or server limitations" since they haven't implemented it yet.
I don't really care what your opinion on pricing is, whether or not you think players should "get gud" and learn how to make money.
You should be upset you were lied to. I don't care who you are. This is a blatant lie and regardless of whether or not you want a personal house or whatever, you - the customer- was lied to.
They could have warned us way before the patch this was going to happen. They didn't. Instead they purposefully mislead us about it, let people believe they could stop saving around 2.5 million and told us the exact opposite of what they were doing.
I love this game. Usually when people complain I wave them off. I run an FC on Balmung that has a Large Mansion in Lavender Beds. I personally have enough for a personal house.
I'm livid they lied to us. Flat out.
And you should be, too.
''Personal'' housing prices makes that content irrelevant to me
hmm... i wonder how much gil is selling for now in RMT sites :o .. <-- what many ppl are thinking thanks to SE generalizing ppls Gil rate in servers
it looks to me like they did something like this:
*Example only,
total players in server = 10
Player (1) =70 Mil gil , Player (2) = 35 Mil gil , Player (3) = 15 mil , Players 4-10 = less than 1 mil
oh look theres 120 mil + on this server, lets set prices to 25 mil ! ._. players 4-10 who are majority are screwed.
or something like that, cause i don't get it, i don't know any rich players, and i'm Legacy, playing since 1.0 launch , ive got 2.3 mil on me atm
i just don't get it, sigh, oh well, no point crying, my room in FC house will do , who needs Gardens!
I don't make many posts on the official forums anymore. Not as much as I did in 1.0, but this housing issue brought me back here to share my disappointment in not only with housing, but the greater issue spoken albeit indirectly by Yoshida and his development team.
First of all, this is a inexcusable misrepresentation of what he had planned and told his player base. End of story. Nice that you're doing something, but you should cut your patch early, implement the rest in the patch notes and start over on your housing. Anything else is unacceptable. Even with what was originally told, I'm willing to compromise, personally, but I can't speak for everyone. I would have made separate wards consisting of small houses at a fixed price of 2 million flat. Again, this is just what I would compromise to personally and don't expect it to be agreed upon by anyone. Just what I think is fair in the expense of a personal house in this game.
However, there is a huge issue that Yoshida touched upon.
With the constant maintenance to these servers, and in order to maintain server load and it's resources --here on Hyperion it's still hard on character positioning during raids and connectivity to these servers between 8pm-11pm/12am--, I think for me at the moment it's more lack of faith in their server structure more than the promise in the vision of future content. Whether it be personal housing, large scale open world combat, or raids these servers during peak hours of the evening are still abysmal. We go back to the same issues when it comes to new content such as this: Issue with server load and resources.Quote:

I think they knew the way they structured their budget servers, and they did have a strict budget and actually still do due to all the bleeding of investors, that it wasn't going to be able to handle what they had planned a while ago. They just probably hoped things would work out if they cut enough corners, but here it is, folks. The catalyst. I won't be shocked if the wards that are said to be open for 2.4 are significantly reduced or postponed altogether.
It's almost time for my second payment of 180 days to be up. I think I might reduce that down to a 30 day and see how this pans out. You don't have to care about housing for you to see there is another issue in this and it affects everyone. Not just the housing enthusiasts. Be warned. :)
I read somewhere else, Yoshi has never logged in or played FFXI? How can this be Yoshi. I can only assume it was to have an unbiased attachment from FF11, and not clouding ideas in relation to FF14 decisions. But Yoshi having a concept of how personal Mog houses functioned in FF11 would have helped with developing FF14 personal housing.
People were expecting a separate instance, away from Free Company instances. People wanted to run around wards seeing other single home owners, not free company homes mixed in with single player homes.
Giving us permission to decorate and upgrade the size of our personal inn rooms, would have been a better outcome. As, it would have merge our Inn rooms to our own personal housing. Their could have been a little nest for our chocobos to rest in, like in FF11.
If Yoshi played FF11, he would have a better idea of what we ( ex FF1 veteran players) wanted, concerning personal housing.
Be creative. It would have been better to hold off till 2.5 than to have the out rage that is going to escalate, when everyone wakes up today.
And for people thinking I want a ffx11 clone.... NO I dont... I welcome the outside front lawn of my houses. -no one is saying they want ff11 instance rooms, which is in fact the same thing we have with our cities Inn rooms. we just don't have the permission to decorate it freely.
I want my mini game, retainer, barber, chest, CS book all in my personal house when I spend the 4mil gil to get it. This is common sense, why would they still have Inn rooms, alienated from our personal house, put all that stuff in the same house. Give me a mini quest if you have too. But I want movers to come and move all that stuff from the inn, to my new home.
I want all that stuff waiting for me in my personal house when I buy it. Every player should be getting that addition for free, upon purchase. I don't want to go back to the Inn to play the mini game or to deposit items in my chest, to get a hair cut or to watch old cut scenes. I want all that accessible to me in my personal house.
....PS
When I log out(sleeping on the bed I just bought) and log back into the game the next day, I want to be in my bed waking up stretching and then standing to my feet. I don't wanna be outside, wondering how I got there. "Does my character sleep walk now?"
Sincerely
Rustyhagun
Honestly reading through housing changes all I see is it's not actually personal housing but people are jumping the gun to assume this is personal housing. All they've done is making the 2 new wards accessible for players to purchase without an attachment to a FC so while they can be seen as a personal home they are nothing more than a bandaid system til they implement the true housing lots.
Pretty much what they are doing atm is just offering some players a chance to by housing if they really want it but they are pushing to make it where in 2.4 there should hopefully be no limit to the amount of people that can buy a house.
I think what they have in mind is they would rather open wards and keep it as a glamour like concept before opening the floodgates and pissing off those that saved 800k and miss out on buying a house cause lots ran out.
つ ◕_◕ ༽つ AFFORDABLE HOUSING OR RIOT ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
Please would the "infomercial men of Eorzea" plz stand up and start selling ur gil making secrets!! I've seen numerous ppl on here say how easy it is to make millions in a day...by all means let's here it!! And if u plan to say sell primal extreme runs, keep it to ur selves becuz their are those of us who would rather help the fellow player free of charge as opposed to exploiting wat little coin than may have to clear content.. So by all means great and powerful wise men of profit!!! Share ur secrets...we are intently listening..
PS. Wat a joke personal housing is...point blank!
I didn't even have my forum account set up... this has made me set up the account.
Like many others, I had been looking forward to personal housing and had been saving some gil as it was said that it would be cheaper than FC housing.
What I see now, is that the cost is exactly the same and that all SE did was to change a line of code that instead of saying "only for FC", now says "For everyone". It's plain to see that they dropped the ball on the personal housing; might as well just stick to your private room in your FC.
I came here from RIFT and I was used to being able to build everything from scratch, literally wood board by wood board if I wanted to with immense item limits. Perhaps SE should go poke the makers of RIFT to learn a thing or two about how to create housing instances that don't FUBAR the rest of the servers due to their loads.
TBC due to char limit
(Second part of my post)
Here's an idea: instead of massive housing wards that are obviously so badly coded that they are white elephants, why not have just a ghost image of the houses being shown on the ward and instance all the houses?
Basically, the wards would just show a placeholder and once you interact with an aetherite/door, you'd be pulled to the real house in an instance that would only be loaded when people are inside it, instead of having all the houses permanently loaded as they are now.
People would still be able to check out houses open to the public and walk the wards but the load on the servers would be much smaller.
I dare say that the wards should actually only hold a miniature image (let's say a scale of 1/20 or 1/10) of how the actual house and plot look like with an aetherite to use and be pulled into it.
Walk the wards, check the houses and lighten server loads... win win?
Affordable PERSONAL HOUSING now!
What puzzles me is that they're still going ahead with this, when it's obviously not the way they wanted it to be (hence the numerous apologies in Yoshida's post). I think most people would have been fine with waiting, maybe even longer than 2.4, if they knew they'd get a proper personal housing system that made more sense. All it's doing now is cause unecessary stir.
Personally, I've learned to not take anything for granted from the developers. This isn't even out of bitterness, it's just out of experience. Obviously there are still aspects of the game I love, and they definitely do some things right or I wouldn't be playing it, but they've been cutting corners since 2.1, so I'm not sure why people are so surprised.
Most games have housing instanced which helps loads. Downside is that you don't have a little town but upside is everyone can get one. I don't like putting personal houses with FC ones like they are doing. Which removes the upside to non-instanced anyway.
The prices aren't a big deal to me, they are about what I expected for smalls, at least. Anything bigger than that made me cringe a little, just like it did with FC Housing's release. What bothers me is they told us one thing (yes, it was 8 months ago, and yes, I'm aware plans can change) and gave us something different that left most of us scratching our heads in total confusion. The prices are manageable, the availability is not...especially for a feature as sought after as this. Making FCs and individuals compete for plots will not end well in any way, shape or form. This is what most people are so upset about, I think. They would have done better for themselves and the player base to hold off on it's release until it could support a substantial amount of people, possibly at a cheaper cost. Right now this whole thing does not reflect well on Yoshi or the devs, and I don't think it'd be unreasonable for someone to address at least 1 of the many rage-filled threads personally. All of that said, the rest of the patch is pretty decent with the various quality of life changes.
Sooooo much this^
I knew houses would be more on my server from the start, but to be the exact same as FC housing is ridiculous. Thought that at most the larges (if there would be size differences for personal housing) would be around 20mil at the start on Excalibur....
The vast majority of Legacy players are not mega rich :
1.) The ones that were when ARR came out have all mostly spent that gil on the first round of FC housing.
2.) Housing is more expensive on Legacy servers, outright.
3.) Most people were not "uber mega rich" in 1.0, then, like now and always, the mega rich made up a small percentage of the playerbase.
And most importantly :
4.) The gil everyone did have in 1.0 was "renumerated" which in this case means SE just flat out removed 90% of all the gil from 1.0, because fuck you. Meaning even people with capped gil in 1.0 (again less than 1% of the total 1.0 population) would have started ARR with 99m. I had 2-3m when the 1.0 servers went down, meaning I, as a Legacy player (since 1.0 CB) started with precisely 200-300k, which you may have noticed is about what 1 character makes just leveling from 1-50 on any given class.
The only "people" this benefits are gil sellers. Which is baffling because SE has a litany of horrible design choices, like not being able to mail items to yourself, that they've justified since ARR's release with "somehow it helps us stop RMT". Then they add content that requires roughly 10-20x the gil that any average player has on them at any given time.
I hate lies. Not a way to keep your customers, you know? And no, I'm not talking about the 850k.
I want to think that someone above Yoshida has made the call over all this crap. Otherwise, just another sad disappointment in the team.
So, to whoever decided this, stop cutting corners and use the goddamn money that we pay monthly to give us the game experience that we expect and deserve, instead of half-assed implementations. Otherwise you'll end finding out that you don't get that precious money anymore, and it will be too late to get it back. "A Realm Reborn" can only happen once.
2.38.1 incoming.
Guys, go check out the beating Yoshi P is getting the JP forums. He made a post full of poo and the JP crowd didn't like it one bit. If you think the comments here are raging, go see the JP ones.

I feel your pain!! I've felt exactly the same during the spectacular FAIL of the FC Housing launch when I've lost waste majority of my faith in Yoshi and SE. I've felt cheated and physically sick and depressed for months. This repeat of such major failure made me lost any tiny remains of it ... :( What I'm affraid even more of is the huge decline in the subs slowly leading to collapse of the game.
Well - kinda ... unless they have up to 7 alts all leveled to 50 and having "maxed" the GC rank standing by to do so it would take them a couple of days per alt to be able to purchase additonal houses.
Yeah this is a HUGE disappointment. It's the same cost as FC house, which most individuals have no chance at.
Pricing the same as a FC house makes sense to me if I'm honest. If I buy a house in the real world it's the same price irrespective of whether I buy alone of with friends, so it makes sense to me at least that the same would apply in game.
Reading the latest live letter they are working on something to increase supply which is currently being tested. I'd expect land prices to plummet faster than Twin once they get that sorted.
I think what most people assumed this would be was smaller houses (still with some variation in size) in a completely separate district.
Also, you wouldn't pay the same for a 1-2 bedroom house as you would a 5 bedroom house. FC housing is meant for multiple people. Personal housing is not. When you've got a whole group behind you (generally) putting money into the pot, it's a whole lot easier to afford a house, but these prices for single players is pretty crappy :/
We need mortgages lol.
i hope to buy 2 larges next to each other and laugh at all the poor people running around looking for smalls.
Oh I completely agree that it certainly isn't what was expected, but based on what we've got, I can understand their logic when pricing (not necessarily condone it but that's another matter). Ultimately this patch has just opened FC housing to individuals to buy somewhere of the same size. Until the prices become reasonable (eg more land is released and perhaps more variations in plot size) we'll have to live with private rooms or get rich.
Edit: mortgages would be a cunning way to keep people playing and take money out of the economy. Players have to give x to SE every month or they lose their house and all their stuff.
The entire system will make the rich richer and the poor poorer as all the houses get gobbled up by the major players and their alts. They'll make it all back through gardening, so why not buy a few plots now that the guild restrictions that prevented this very thing are gone?
I must be missing the point somewhere as I keep seeing people saying that the personal house is the same cost as a FC house? On my server anyway when they introduced FC housing a small FC house was 25 million, and the small personal house introduced in today's patch is 5million gil. Don't get me wrong, I'm not very impressed at the high prices, which do not match I think 95% of the player base's expectations. But then whenever have we got anything good that we expected? lol
I'm in the same boat with ya. 3.3 mil here and can't even afford a small plot. I'm really disappointed. They should've never gone around saying that housing was going to be affordable and starting at 850k. Personal housing was the only thing I was looking forward to. Just really really disappointed.
