2 new dungeouns what are you expecting

I often find myself anxious for information, but think about it. Is knowing the date of release going to make it release any faster? I am more interested in details than the date which is going to happen when it's ready regardless of whether we know it or not. Don't bash on the community reps. They are some of the most active ones that I've seen on MMO forums. They provide us with a direct line to the devs and provide us with information. Because of them our ideas and concerns are heard. I think the path of communication from us to the devs is as important as the communication from the devs to us, if not more. Good work reps and don't let the words of others bring your spirits down.

I had a feeling someone would say that. The team is feeding us information via community reps. If you negatively respond to every comment I can guarantee the decrease in frequency of those posts. I meant feeding in terms of information, but if you want to talk money. We aren't actually feeding them money currently lol. I do not argue that we fed them in the beginning, but that only went so far. They are the ones putting money into it now. We are no longer feeding them. You initially paid for the game and got a terrible game. I have bought games and they have sucked and I was still stuck with them. We are fortunate that this game is being worked on and our initial terrible game may turn into an incredible game. Nobody can deny the potential of this game. Hopefully the new dev team can help this game to reach that potential.

Good post, I'll give you that. Too bad my thirst for information increases every day and that little information we get makes me want more. It's like eating a little piece of cake when you could eat all of it.

All mmo's are now either wow clones or wanna be wow games , SE made FFXI and broke the mold with content that made ppl feel accomplished in what they have done Dyna Ein Sky Sea these i wsh i could see in FFXIV not the same thing but same elements of challenge and rewards . If your ls has great players and can kill monsters that are UBER hard you get those spoils of battle.. in short stfu with the wow this wow that Final fantasy used to pride themselves in being Different and great Story lines .

For the record, part of FFXI's success was because they copied the most successful MMO at the time (EverQuest.) Nothing they've ever really done has been all that original (FFXI was based off EQ, FF Tactics was based on Tactic Ogre, the original FF was based on DQ.) They just manage to take what others have done and repackage it in an appealing way. If FFXIV had taken some pages from WoW, it would be in much better shape than it is now. Do I want a WoW clone? No. But it's ignoring WoW and even S-E's own past successes that made FFXIV turn out the way it did (critically panned).

FF11 stole heaps from Everquest just like WoW stole heaps from FF11.

Originality is only in people's tinted memories.

FF11 is really a very polished and friendlier version of Everquest. Except for the auction house and subjobs.. most of the systems are a page of the "best of everquest".

I absolutely loved Tactics as well (hence my name). I wanted to reference the game without being obvious about it. More on topic:

Who here has played DAoC and remembers Darkness Falls?
IMO, that was the best dungeon I've ever seen in 13+ years MMO'ing. For those not in the know:

Servers in DAoC were divided into 3 seperate realms. Each realm was in competition with the other (think City-State conquest tally?) The realm with the most PvP frontier control gained access to Darkness Falls.

DF had content from 20 to endgame raid bosses. It was a static zone with entrances in each of the 3 realms. When your realm controlled DF, your entrance was opened. There were special vendors on each side which sold items using a currencies dropped by the various tiers of monsters (see: Beastcoins?) Again, all the way from 20- end game. There were solo mobs and mobs meant for groups, and the boss mobs dropped very nice loot. On top of that, the dungeon was huge, ran very long/deep with high walls.

THAT is the sort of thing I love to see in a dungeon.

Like most people I expect difficulty in the new dungeons. Tactics involved like positioning, crowd control, coordinated burst damage, etc. anything that requires a team to communicate to perform effectively.

Make bosses hard, ie boss is immune to either physical dmg, magical dmg, or both depending on his buff and there is a small window in which he is vulnerable. Golem boss immune to physical damage until hit with a water spell and even then melee have maybe 10 secs or so to do some damage.

Also give all enemies berserk/enrage timers so soloing is impossible.

Sorry I hurt your feelings. I brought up a wow heroic because most current MMO players know what it is. Seemed easy and logical to use it as a point of reference.

You lose me when you say WoW stuff, I haven't even trialed that game i was like "looks like crap" even when it was a legitimate game in vanilla stage. You're just a little condescending by saying "current" because, WoW isn't new either, the average "current" mmo player played rift the first month, and play f2o. Those who pay subscriptions for things are dying breed altogether whether you play Everquest or WoW, or Star Wars Galaxies, or FFXI. It doesn't matter, all those games are old, Rift will lose half its fanbase with subscriptions. Its a sad fact, that the "current" gamer in general or a "current" person on the FF game forums, doesn't get why there would even be mmos or why people would pay for them >.<

TLDR version is just don't say current cause we're a dying breed actually. Because I agreed with your post but I thought it was douchey, hey I know don't live to appease me, but its ok. In general I think there's maybe 3 people worth coming off a little rude too. If you weren't being rude I take all this back, tone is hard to pick up on the internet and I'll be the first to admit it.

My expectations ? they are the same as usual, extremely low.

FFXIV looks awesome graphically but surprise surprise its a steaming turd underneath it all.

Uh.. Did you play EverQuest? Cause I did.. I can't think of a single thing that FFXI stole from ever quest.. I mean, unless you count 1 being an MMO and 2 having Zones.. Seriously.. back that up..

Tried it, it's crap.. In an MMO you are Not supposed to hit level cap in a week and you are Not supposed to be able to kill anything in the game by just throwing people at it who all click every ability they have repeatedly without a second thought.

Development of FFXI started when Sakaguchi became impressed with seeing western MMOs like EQ. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EverQuest

Pretty much everything FFXI did (short of the job system/FF stuff) is rooted in EQ.
Group centric play? EQ did it. Rare spawns? EQ did it. Con system? EQ did it. Pretty much everything FFXI did, EQ started, as well creating most of the MMO terminology that was used in FFXI and we continue to use today. FFXI might have started to stand on its own legs later in its life, but it owes heaps of debt to EQ for many of its original design choices.

In FFXIV you can go from 1-50 in 2 weeks if not even earlier with good LS/Parties. Not that I've done it but I know a few people who has.

in the 2 new dungeons, i'm hoping for interesting and fun boss fights. something that would be challenging as well as unique. hopefully the community can help come up with some fun boss style fight in hopes of them being passed along to the dev team.

I want gathering spots with crazy new items that can only be gathered by high level gatherers inside them!

Imagine if there was a crazy fishing hole/that had fish that once you pull it up they attack and when you beat it you get the rare fish of the gods!

How about a NM Mining Node "Minega III" And you need 3-4 high level miners to mine him to death and the healers have to back them up it would be epic!

Or a evil trent that you botanists have to chop up as a raid boss!

This world belongs to the gatherers of the land MWAHAHA! (Thats right my MWAHHAA! is all in CAPS!)

Of the current MMO populaton the majority of them have played or do play wow. I wasnt trying to be a douche. The math is behind me on this one tho. At one point Wow had a total of 12 million subs, world wide total MMO players total subs are around 23 million.

Something that will make the game worth playing instead of something to spoon feed people who have to use velcro shoes because they can't tie their own laces in real life.

hopefully something with huge replay value while they are fixing this game. outside fun challenging and replayable i don't need anything else. but i have absolutely no expectations anymore. i will just see when it comes out.
