Bad Dunes flashbacks ... *twitch twitch* >.<
But, you're right, it was a rite of passage and where you learned to play your new job in a party. Painful, but necessary.

A stable, functional marketing system. Don't really care if it's auction or wards, just... workable.
And a helluva of a lot more, but I get only one wish right? Most of this thread got a lot of my one other wishes anyway, if I wish for the others' wish to be realized, I would get a buttload of my own wishes done!
But crashing wards man, them crashing wards.
This isn't because of the game, its because of the players. FFXI was the same. Around level 10 everyone went to Valkurm because everyone else went to Valkurm, despite Buburimu having more or less the same level mobs, Shakrami and Korroloka having some even better options. It was quite rare you found parties willing to go with anything apart from what everyone else was doing but the ones where you did were some of the best you got.
FFXIV actually does try to encourage you to go to other regions by offering a lower number of levequests at camps than people can accept but people still stay in the same zone and just go to a different, similar looking camp with lower level leves then bump up the difficulty level.
I wouldn't class FFXIV's zone the same as other games like FFXI, they're a lot bigger, more like FFXI's regions but seamless. Admittedly though, the are a bit short on diversity over the zone. This makes levelling at one camp very much the same as levelling at another. I know people say this is because of the resource overhead and smaller, more diverse zones would be better but this isn't the same. You can go seamlessly into the underground dungeons on the maps, these are very different to terrain above ground. It would be nice to see similar methods employed to see more diversity from one camp to another as well as seeing a more of a change in the types of mobs around the camps.
Only one? ...
A Vanity equipment layer. Like in LotRO or such.
You wear your normal high stat gear - but you have to option of wearing other items on a vanity equipment layer if you find your current gear is not appealing. - you retain your stats and you look how you want.
Course this means we also need new things to wear... SE PLEASE don't let ffxiv be like ffxi and only have the same recoloured stuff year after year!!!!
Sure in FFXI this was the case but in FFXIV you aren't really given many options are you? 3 maps which you can rank up to 50 on...forget the fact that on those same maps there are crystals that probably give you R50 and possibly up to R70 leves but those leves haven't been released yet. The game could've had different zones instead and pushed you in certain directions and given you options, like there could've been 3 different zones (one in Thanalan, La Noscea, Shroud region) for R10 players, and it moves you to new zones for R20 players, etc.Quote:

..and hell no it doesn't. At R30 I can still make a ton of SP running R20 leves on higher star difficulties, and this isn't to mention leve linking. The game doesn't encourage anything than what its encouraging now which is staying in one region and pumping out leves at camps nearby...such as Haltali and Broken Water, there's 6 leves and you can do Levinshower making it 7 and not to mention fail and repeat...the game is horribly designed.Quote:

Ah man I miss it. I might go back for a laugh. The dunes, it has such a ring to it.
3 hour parties on the secret beach, learning your trade as a WAR without a subjob, then you see someone crack out Ifrit summon for the first time.
Magic.
That's my one thing - bring back the sense of wonder, the player made fun that sticks in the memory for years - like when I beat the sandy 2-3 Dragon Solo on my BLU. I'll never forget that.
I can't think of a single experience in 14 so far that makes me look back and think, "wow that was so cool I wish I could do it again."
summoner , permanents pets (carby included!)
I was thinking something similar. I'd like to see housing done differently to FFXI. A Single room similar to XI's mob house would be a good starting point available cheaply or free but I'd like the option to buy bigger property over time. Expanding to a couple of rooms then eventually a couple of floors with each room furnishable.
Which is exactly what I said. You choose to stay in the same region doing lower ranked leves and boosting the difficulty rather than travelling to other regions. If you don't want to stay in the same region all the time, don't. You shouldn't need the game to force you into changing to a different zone.
Hm.. a Mabinogi-esque instruments/music system, MML code input and all.
Can I wish that this wasn't the worst mmo ever partially made?
Second chance for the game.
Oh man, this is a fun thing right there. I am not familiar with Mabinogi's mechanics, but I'll have to assume it's similar to LotRO's. I have honestly spent HOURS on just forming bands and playing music, can't even believe it myself. You see, grdining and achievements isn't all there is to it!
If i could have one wish, one in the whole wide woooorld or erozea. It would be TO OWN AN AIRSHIP!
Party seeking icon/system.
One thing?
I want to become a lead producer
Once again you ignore everything I said and repeat the same comment: let me bold it it might help; I party with people where people congregate to, I am not going to solo leves in Gridania and Limsa Lominsa because no one else hardly ever plays there...its simple. You were saying its not the game's fault, it doesn't encourage this type of behavior. I have told you that it does, it doesn't do anything to move away from this behavior because it doesn't provide you with incentive. I know I can go to Limsa and do leves, its no efficient however since I will most likely be soloing the leves and this is the game's problem not mine and not everyone else (and if the game is giving me 500 SP a pop literally doing Devilet Inside (i.e., R20 Horizon leve) at R37, why should i waste time or anima to run/teleport to Limsa to do something that will most likely give me less SP anyway?). IMO leves stink, they need to remove the difficulty options, make them solo only and make real content.
And at the end of the day, my initial argument had to do with constant progression from zone to zone which FFXI had...3 possible different zones in FFXIV don't fix this.
Most of which was instigated by the players rather than the game. You went to the dunes because that's the place where the three nations connected for the most part. It could have easily been Korroloka Tunnel or Buburimu Peninsula, but it became the dunes because of the players.
That being said, leves need to fall into the back burner because all they are is daily quests with a different name and on a 36 hour reset instead of being a 24-hour reset. Of course, "real content" is in the eye of the beholder. To me it would be quest chains with storyline and exp rewards attached. Built-in zone to zone progression supported by story rather than player driven. That sort of thing.
Jump. For Dragoons.
Lots of good ideas in here, few not so good but I agree with most of the ideas here.
My one addition would be for a MMO standard style Auction house. The one in XI was ok Id gladly take that(Tho to do this you would also need a mail system). Now dont take the market wards and retainers away. In any MMO there is always a street or area where a flee market of people setup a bazaar and sell what they could not put on the AH. Keeping the market ward would save people from having to leave their accounts logged in and PC's on for god knows how long. This would save some bandwidth also.
I want a beast mode that we can activate at any given time just so we can look cool for a while. HERP DERP DERP.
Actually I went to dunes because XP sucked post level 10 in Ronfuare...and on top of that I was given the option to go to Mhaura (which I did), to go to that dungeon in Burburimu (which I did). That was post level 10, below level 20. Post 20 I was given the option to go to Qufim (obviously because everyone congregated there) but I've also been in parties in Jugner and some random places I can't even think of now. Point being the game pushed me to new places...FFXIV doesn't.Quote:

Well then we agree :). I don't care how its done, as long as there is zone to zone progression. This I don't ever see happening in FFXIV because of the sheer size of the regions (because we're technically going from "zone to zone" by moving from South Thanalan to East Thanalan).Quote:

how about more involved players? How about a reason to group up other than the desire to have fun? Am I just on a crappy server? this whole time I'm playing by myself & the day I start shouting, I get reported for spamming... What happened to an in depth search function? I miss XI...
It might stop you from complaining about being in the same zone all the time.
I know there are less people there but like I said, it was the players choice to stay in those zones. Just like in FFXI it was the player's choice to stay in Valkurm. Yes, there are game factors affecting this, for Valkurm it was closer to San d'Oria and Bastok whereas Buburimu was only closer to Windurst. In FFXIV, Uldah has more popular guides, this made more people use the market wards there, so people stayed around that area.
The game does try to help people go to other areas, you can teleport there in an instant but people prefer to come on the forums and complain about the lack of airships instead, despite the airships in FFXI being rarely used after outpost warps became available.
I do agree that giving players control over the difficulty level of leves causes a problem but I don't think making them as a solo only content is the answer. Party play is weak enough already without removing the only reason for it. I think it'd be better to either have leves with a recommended party size and having the difficulty rating fixed or having the difficulty level set automatically based on the current party size.
..and once again you decide to skim through my post and repeat the same thing. OK forget what I said please, FFXIV's maps and map progression is perfect....you hear this SE?? don't change anything please!!!
My one wish is for them to go back in time and delay the game by a year.
custom mapping of the keyboard
Rarabs :3 .
Worms x3 .
More content that REQUIRES grouping.
Actually, I didn't skim your post, it was read in full. You said you follow everyone else and do what everyone else does because the game doesn't force you to do anything else. I'm just not sure what else you expect the game to do. You're offered multiple zones where you can level. You're limited as to the amount of leves you can do at a each location. Do you really want more restrictions in place? Would you prefer a game with more linear progression? I don't remember that being too popular in FFXIII.
This is always going to be a problem, its not only maps you see it with either, for example, you see it with equipment too. Everyone wants to have the best equipment available to their class, so everyone wears the same equipment. Then everyone complains that there's no variation and everyone looks the same but these same people will still go out to find the same equipment that everyone else wears because its what everyone else wears.
How are you finding your parties in FFXIV? I see very few in the search, linkshell parties seem to be more popular. Try suggesting to the party that you go somewhere else for a change, I'm sure your not the only one sick of being in the same zone doing the same leves all the time. Maybe you don't get quite as much SP as if you stay at the same usual leves but what would you rather do? Have more SP repeating the same thing over and over again or less SP but have the diversity of experiencing different locations and different leves?
Regional Battle leve's need to be REMOVED, or majorly GIMPED... Your primary way to rank up in a game shouldnt be based around 36 hour repeatable quests... This is poor design, those quests should be optional, which when they give so much SP, they feel required... If the leve's were a fixed SP maybe 1000 for Rank 1/10 leve's, 2000 for Rank 20s, 3000 - 30's, etc... Only given on completion of the leve.
I feel that the way Leve's are for battle, are a forced way of ranking up. No one likes to feel "Forced" into something repeatable and boring. Good mmo's always have optional content, not required content. You might say that Leve's are not required, but go ahead and find those grind parties for anything under Raptors... Goodluck... why? Too many people ONLY want to do LEVE's... why? Because they are the best way to gain SP... Is this good for the game? No, not at all, gives no diversification, no need to explore new areas, no need to have grinding parties...
In the end... please either gimp them or completely remove them from the game... Crafting/Gathering leve's can remain as those are solo based and give SMALL amounts of sp.
