Hrm to TC's opening comment THIS WILL NEVER STOP, honestly what did you expect? most of the runs on CM are speed runs, as for the story well as someone mentioned you can watch them from your inn room, seriously though when the kick option is fully implemented then watching those cutscenes could result in a player being kicked from the party, people talk about waiting outside the boundary during a boss fight? Boom kicked, its going to be an interesting month indeed. I mean just speed run the damn thing, least then you will know how to do it, then you can be happy that you are one step closer to gearing your character when the game truely begins after completing the story.

No, they aren't. I understand that personal responsibility is not really popular these days, but no one is forced to bully other players. If you want a speed run, find some like-minded friends, and have your speed run. I think a big part of the problem is that people are willing to bully other players over the issue are also the same sort of people who have difficulty making friends in the game.

This debate really needs to end. For those who are anxious for speed runs, there is a very viable alternative for them to go about it which has already been stated: form a pre-made group with those rules set in place. If you choose to ignore this method and take a roll of the dice in the Duty Finder, then please remember that there are no special rules in force. You are taking a gamble on what the conditions of your group will be and there are no factors which allow you to become Supreme Emperor of the party. Anyone believing the contrary simply needs to get over themselves.

As for myself, personally.. the last time I checked, it is my banking information that will be funding my subscription. Therefore, I call the shots on how the game is played. Now, if there are those who feel "inconvenienced" by this, then they are more than happy to pay for my subscription. Until then, I suppose they will simply need to suck it up and deal with spending a few precious minutes of their lives watching a cut scene.

Don't let anyone bully you into skipping these. If you want to watch them while in the dungeon, then watch them. The fact that you can watch them again in the inn is irrelevant. When it comes down to it, what's the worst anyone can do to you in this game? Type angry words? Caps lock you to death?

Like others said, what if the kick wasn't possible for someone who hasn't cleared the instance dungeon?

Not sure if it retains your first time dungeon run status even if you run out of time or for you just being in that dungeon once without clearing.
So until that clear flag is put on that character, the kick feature shouldn't allow anyone to kick the player just because he's new or watching cut scenes for his/her first time.

You should really educate yourself on how the "vote to kick" feature is going to work, as I am afraid that you have been misinformed regarding its intent. It is reserved for those who have disconnected or become inactive (AFK).

And besides.. I'm a tank. You would rather kick the tank and wait in queue for a new one rather than wait a lesser amount of time for a cut scene to reach its completion? All the while, I would enjoy my instant queue to rejoin the same dungeon. I assure you, I believe I would manage just fine if this were the case... though unfortunately for you, it is not.

And that ladies and gentlemen is the reason why a kicking system can't be hastily implemented. SE has to figure out a nice balance to prevent people being kicked for watching the cut-scenes they put in place. Someone should be kicked for not the content they are presented but for their behavior foul behaviour or sabotaging a run. Watching cut-scenes isn't a kickable offense, especially since it's part of the content. I'm going to laugh if SE implements a kick function only that it can't be used against first timers to a dungeon run.

Speed runners, get a group of like minded people who want to speed run with you from your server, then you can run the instance over and over again, as fast as your hearts want and skip as many cut-scenes as you want. It takes just a few minutes to get a few people together from your server. You can just stand in Mor'dhona and see people shouting constantly. Do not expect a speed run using purely the DF with a pick up group.

That would be abusing the kick feature. They will not implement it without solving most issues where people will abuse the feature. It may not even be in 2.1 patch. See Camate comment.

People keep saying speed runners are the majority and those who want to skip cutscenes are the majority. However, if you look through this thread you'll notice every post defending those watching cutscenes is generating significantly more likes than those defending skipping them. Methinks the skippers have an awful high opinion of themselves.

Not being one to deprive people of their story experience, but also being a stickler for efficiency, I take the neutral ground in this conflict...Both sides have rights and wrongs.

Currently, the endgame in this is garbage and needs a *series* of overhauls. I'd be fine if they removed or decreased tomestone rewards from CM to discourage speedrunning, but we also need other avenues to obtain them from. A *lot* of other avenues. More dungeons, daily quests, random rewards, item exchanges, etc etc etc.

If they fail to supply this for the next major patch, I fear this game will go free 2 play sooner than I anticipated. *sadface*

I think the only time we grab people from DF is if we can't find anyone on the FC, we tend to only run with those that have the raidcall if possible, so in the instance where we have no choice but to grab a random we make sure its a DPS, we bring our own tanks and healers so to what the other person mentioned we never have to wait for a tank in a run, and the majority of times we run CM its for speed only, clear it in 20-25 min, and run again. Honestly there is no way to find common ground on this, there will always be speed runners and those who want the story, rule of thumb if the ones that want to watch the cutscenes outweigh the speed runners then watch the cutscenes, if its vice versa then watch them another time, god knows you will likely be running that dungeon more than once if you are looking to do end game content.

Watch and let watch. Even after I finished the story line, my stance hasn't changed.
You don't have the right to tell anyone to skip cut scenes.
And all of us have every rights to watch all the cut scenes as we please.

A good speed running team can beat Praetorium in less time than it takes to watch the cut-scenes. As a result, you will end up missing large chunks of the cut-scenes - even if we discount the lack of context and perspective induced by missing the fight scenes and connecting material that put the cut-scenes into perspective. Imagine watching a movie, where you have to watch it in two sittings. (First sitting you get to watch the fight scenes. In the second sitting you get to watch the intermediate dialogue and character development. This would not make good viewing)

Yes SE force people to behave in a vile manner in an attempt to stop people from watching cut scenes on their first run of a dungeon.
What stopped these people from suggesting in the forums that it would be nice to have extra choices in dungeon finder before starting to act like jerks?

Custom parties should be created before entering CM and be full. Custom would mean playing how they want to play as opposed to how it was designed to be played. The developers intended for the cutscenes to be played during the mission. Random queue in Duty Finder is meant to be played how the developers intended or according to the parties wish. If someone intends to play according to the developers intentions, this will trump speedruns in DF.

On a side note, if you are geared for speed runs in CM, let people watch the videos. You can probably single heal and definitely single tank the whole thing.

Here's another idea that I'm going to be flame to oblivion for. If someone in the group is watching a cutscene, then the group can go ahead. Just like when you enter the dungeon for the first time. Put everyone in a circle, but ensure that dungeoun time is stopped. And combine this feature with the idea I said early. To divide the duty finder between "New Player" aka "Story Mode' and Experienced Players.

As a tank I would rather que with good people over speed runners even tho I am speed running ( I don't mind people watching cs) soo would check it just to get people of similar mind set.

So it WOULD be a great solution however I bet speed runner douches would still click the option anyway and ruin its intended purpose.

Seems to me like if your going to use the Duty Finder to find groups it's the speed runners who need to learn to deal with it. You can't use a widespread public system like this and expect only 1 kind of player. That's unrealistic in both theory and in practice. Especially considering 15-50 players have been trained to goto the duty finder to find groups for dungeons.

I organized a run. I just needed tomes. A person hesitantly asked me. CAn I please watch the Cutscenes? will that be ok"?

I replied "Why are you asking me? You pay a subscription don't you? It's not my decision or right to say so, even if I need to wait a few seconds"."

These same threads being made has to stop.

Funny, because I was going to say the same thing about speed runners. Especially the "you have to deal with it". The speed runners have no recourse against people who play the game as it was intended. If someone wants to watch the cutscenes, the worst a speed runner can do is rage quit the group. This is just an excuse. Square enix isn't forcing players to act like complete bastards to other players. That is the individuals choice and is very telling about his/her character. They may have created a poor situation, but the players themselves are making the moral decision to act like this. You can't push that blame onto anyone else.

It's 2 different types of players. People who play for the story mode, people who play for the gear and to get done fast. Different players want to do different things and conflict can arise when they don't agree on what to do.

There really is no right or wrong here, as everyone is entitled to play the game how they choose. Of course, no one can really "force" you to do anything, so do as you will. ^^

All I know is, I will NEVER ask anyone to skip a cutscene, no matter how many times I've ran that instance before.

The dungeon is easy enough to not need all 8 people to complete it, if people want to watch the cutscenes then more power to them. As long as they don't expect me not to complete the dungeon whilst they're watching them.

I watch the cutscenes regardless of what they're saying. The first time I enter any dungeon, I want to watch the cutscenes to make myself pumped to kill trash and bosses. Tried once to skip it, and I didn't enjoy the dungeon as much.

Now, those a-holes have many ways to fix this "extreme" issue. Like, forming their own FC just for this or even take it to the extreme level and ask politely to not watch any cutscenes BEFORE entering any dungeons.

I wonder if some of the players here do got a brain. I mean, is it that hard to do something about it? There is many solutions to this which would make everyone happy.
We all pay to play, so we all have our rights to enjoy the game as it is. By, I dunno, watching cutscenes before we run through the dungeon? It doesn't cost them anything to think of a solution to their own problems.
Sure, they might lose a few calories on the attempt to think of a solution, but that is a sacrifice worth doing to ensure that everyone can enjoy the game.
