True enough... but we are delt the hand we have. RMT WILL NOT GO AWAY. Dispite their best efforts (and SE is doing a better job than most) you cannot get rid of RMT unless you do away with currency completely. So since this cannot be changed, we have to factor it into the equasion. And when you do, the result is that you are hurting the people who dont buy gil a LOT, hurting the people who do buy gil only a little (cause they will just open their wallets and buy more after 2.0) and helping the RMT a lot.
After the 2.0 goes live, all the gil buyers will look at their diminished gil and start trying to get it back to its former glory. They will flock to the RMT websites and open their wallets, driving up the profits for the RMTs..
IMO a more fair way to solve the problem is to introduce more mandatory gil sinks into the game (like the coke and other crafting items... only on a larger scale for things people must have) and then reduce the rewards from NPCs to the 1/10th the value. With this, peoples gill will likely come down naturally over time, and the gil sinks can be adjusted in price at that time. At least this time taking peoples money would be a choice. people could chose to buy the item and get the great geat or can choose to save the money... at least its not a 90% tax on people who have been working hard keeping this game going.
