Just don't leave your world for the weak S ranks. You're not going to make it in time anyway. World-travel is the worst thing to ever happen to hunts.

It isn't necessarily impossible to solo a hunt, even at the minimum item level, provided you play a job that has the require sustain and mitigation and do the mechanics flawlessly for an hour or so. What can make it difficult is that even the simplest mechanics eventually hit you if you do them for an hour because your brain burns a lot of energy concentrating that much and eventually lapses and makes a mistake. Another thing that can make it difficult is that I've noticed an auto-heal on bosses and if you don't do more damage than the auto-heal, they actually recover their HP. This is much harder to do against an S rank because their heal is greater.
However, a FATE sync wouldn't normally item level sync you. It would sync you to the maximum item level of the expansion + a few levels higher than that. Which is over 100 item levels from what the hunt is scaled for. It typically still takes around 40-50 minutes or so to kill an A rank on a tank at that point, but would allow for higher damage output and easier survival. An item level sync would be better.
That's the worst part about Hunts currently. I mean, the absolute dystopian levels of social interaction are a big one as well, but I shouldn't have to join a 3rd party program to be in the know about hunts. Clearly, the limitations of Linkshells are showing their ugly heads again.
That's why SE hasn't changed hunt design despite some parts of the community asking for changes going back to before I started hunting in Stormblood. They want it to be its own separate form of content, not another set of FATEs that a large part of the player community likes to call pointless and boring.
That Discord group might like to portray itself as arbiters of all things hunt related but they have no such authority. While I'm in general agreement that it's nice to wait a reasonable amount of time for others to arrive, if someone doesn't want to wait they don't have to. I can choose to attack when they do, or wait hoping to buy a little extra time for others to arrive. As much as some claim they want to wait for others to arrive, most of the time that's just talk for appearance's sake. They're more than happy to attack as soon as someone else pulls because the reality is they don't want to have to wait any longer either. If they were fine with waiting, they wouldn't attack until the hunt was almost dead.
Drop what you're doing and run. That was the advice we gave to new members of the hunt community worried about missing out even before world visit was added to the game. You cannot expect everyone else to waste their time waiting for you to arrive. That holds just as true now as it did back then.
You don't have to be. All you need to do is go out and do the hunting yourself.
If you're not willing to do the hunting yourself, why do you think you should be entitled to the rewards?
As I recall, you ran one on Coeurl, and I had to literally yell at you guys to let me into your secret cool kids club. The linkshell situation wasn't better. Clearly, Discord is better because it's less gatekeepy. But the cost of that is it's becoming less social. I'm not saying we should go back to it wholesale as people like you were too controlling of the pathways into it, but it's clearly not better.
I did give him hunt marks back in 2.0. I wasn't a no life sitting there watching things spawn, but I tried to help out the best I could.
Now, there are 28 servers soon to be 32 that already have established spotters and conductors and server admins. Of course, the majority of people are going to leech. It's moronic to expect otherwise, but I hate that he attempts to call me out when I at least tried to help. He probably doesn't remember it, but I do.
I'm just burnt out on how anti-social the game is now. It doesn't matter what activity I try to do. It's just that Hunts got really bad
