E12N adds phase immediately comes to mind (that’s always fun to kill the entire raid), I wanna say P5N also has one

It’s still a semi common mechanic in normal raids, and it also makes it more likely they will try to stack a spread or a flare with the group (O4N is always fun for this)

And that's a wrong way of thinking. I can remember mine MSQ journey back in ShB, and when I finally got to Crystal Tower, initially, I was very exited:

"Finally, a big raid, with lots of people! With interesting mechanics (I watched the guide dated from ARR, how silly of me), responibilities (healing pots in 2nd LotA boss, lmao) and dangers! So far all fights were kinda easy, hope the Alliance raids will finally break this mold!"

You can imagine what happened later...

I know, MSQ-related duties skill floor is supposed to be below the Earth crust, but, at least, for a handful of duties that introduce you to a new kind of raids, making it have actual responsibilities will go a long way.
Remember, there are other 23 players in the raid that, in worst case scenario, can carry a sprout to the finish line, so they can keep rolling with the MSQ and never visit CT ever again.

Also, CT is not THAT early in the game. New player has so much bloody reading to do in ARR that they will be bored to tears when they finally reach the related quest line.

Anytime Alisae says “grandfather” in that weird high pitched pseudo depressed tone is probably the low water mark for voiced dialogue in the game

Except no one is running them at milvl and that doesn't solve the stat and potency adjustments, among other things.

I'm all for re-tuning CT, T1-4, and Mhach, and making normal versions of the coils to add to the raid roulette. T3 especially is over in about 3 minutes and the jump pads are very basic, so IDK how often you run it to consider it fun. It's still lacking a completion reward too, in contrast to every other duty in the game.

The E12N one is basically the only other one that doesn't kill, or at least not any more. But O9N/E7N/P9N/etc. are vulnerability stacks and you'd be amazed how often people stack them together.

The point was they can "fix" it by syncing it to that rather than reworking it.

Those are a factor but if it's synced to min ilvl then it's still pretty decent mechanically compared to the joke it is without this amount of sync.

I have been a huge advocate for this for a very long time.
Lets just say that the raiding content in FF14 does not leave the best impressions on new players, dead coils and tank & spank crystal tower where you just die sometimes, or in worse case scenario wipe the whole raid as well because you and 2-3 other people didnt know a certain mechanic or were semi afk.

Plenty of stuff from ARR and even in HW is just straight up outdated and not representative of how the game functions in the slightest later on.
Its usually just 1 or 2 strange mechanics here and there but Coils is especially guilty of this and the devs know very well how it does not fit the game anymore. Its not a coincidence that it is excluded from roulettes.

- Coils need a full on rework so it becomes a presentable raid series for lvl50 players in roulettes. No "if" or "but", its a huge stain on the game how that place is handled.

- Alliance raids in general just needs to be adjusted a little bit on item level so you dont skip half of the fights after like 2 patch.

- Crystal Tower is a bit more complicated because its a mix of item level issues and some outdated mechanics but its still not as much work as Coils.
It just needs to be made a little more engaging(less tank and spank) and raid wipe mechanics should be eradicated. Its the first alliance raid tier, its supposed to teach people how alliance raids work.
You cant do that by making bosses and mob/miniboss fights between bosses that has the potential to wipe the whole raid. An obvious example of this is how the game should auto separate the teams with a slide or something when the groups split up,like they do in later raids.

This is just my personal addition but i think Alexander is almost falling into this territory as well, some mechanics are outlandish (refurbisher for example) and mob arena tiers in general should not be a thing.

I really wish they made Coils more visible. I was lucky enough to have a high level friend take me through them for the cutscenes when it was relevant to the story for me and it was amazing. They also come with some really sweet glams that still hold up pretty well when compared to gear from the newer expansion. I still use a couple of the pieces regularly.

Alliance raids are just weird in general. You burn through them easily most of the time unless it's Ivalice. Ivalice is great. I think if they tuned all alliance raids similarly, we'd be golden. Then there's the NieR raids, but I hate those with a passion.

Bump for the sake of supporting a rework of CT, specifically the people stacking stack markers and pretty much all of labyrinth of the ancients.

Labyrinth is the only place where people come in and use grief tactic tanking strats and call it meta. You offer advice and they attack you, report you, and have you suspended for harassment because it goes against what they think they know. People arguing about common sense vs bad strats in nearly every run that I land in. I'm in lota several times per week, be it on my alt or my main.

When has it ever been meta to cleave your party then tell them to not stand infront of the boss you aimed at them? At what point did the playerbase become so antisocial and ignorant that they used bandaid strategies to make up for the new players in stead of educating them? ie kill the skeletons as soon as they spawn and ignore the dragon instead of dragging it to Narnia, far beyond the exit? (When in literally all other content , even if there's only 3 mobs in a hallway, tanks will drag them 400 yalms to the far end, where the exit is, because it's "meta and faster and w2w is big brain") like all common sense tank behavior is thrown out the window here too and it's beyond painful to witness the behaviour and childish arguments over it, let alone people being suspended for trying to teach people an easier and more efficient way of doing things.

Probably in an effort to get people onto the platforms for the follow up mechanic.
Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't make the mental connection of teaching new players the wrong behavior with regards to other encounters with multiple stackmarkers, it certainly is an inconsistency.
Maybe in Japan they never stacked the platforms in the first place.
We're kind of missing an obvious move-here-now marker (or I forgot its existence), room-wide donuts don't exactly work for that mechanic because there's no "safe zone" with those unless all three platforms are stacked.
Might've been best to just not have an added marker there and let people figure out that the earthquake doesn't hit you when you're not on the ground on their own, at worst that should be a single wipe if the majority of the raid aren't jaded veterans that know what to do anyways.
