so, Aveyond
have to ask, you resubbed for.. why?
remember this? nothing has changed, FFXIV is still on the same path, and yet, here you are... were not able to post on other games forums like this one? I am genuinely curious as to why you would return and pay for a game you are not happy with, and has shown zero evidence of change to what you would prefer. is writing your opinion of "I told you so" really that important? I am actually curious as to what brought you back
And the perfect counter to the current state of how cringe FFXIV has become is the fact that CBU3 went on to make a game that was almost entirely aligned with my tastes and interests in FFXVI. If you want to claim some kind of victory in FFXIV as the game continues to spiral further and further away from what brought players like me to it then you are free to do so. But FFXVI gave me everything I wanted that was ripped away from FFXIV.
I stand by everything I've said. If anything, I am more entrenched than ever in my opinions and delight in the fact that I have a recent mainline FF title that validates them all. And I maintain that FFXIV would have been better off not catering to the crowd that dragged it down to it's current state. They can do so much better, and I hope that someday in the distant future after DT has had it's predictable outcome that a return to form in XIV finally happens.
First things first they need to figure out how to make content and gameplay that doesn't turn people off after a few hours though. Until that happens there's no game here, only a visual novel akin to the FFXIV AU High School manga.
and despite all of your words... you still came back, paid them money for a subscription, proved to SE that they are right and you are wrong. thats right Aveyond, they are right. no matter what drivel they put out... you still paid to come back after making such a show about leaving.
make no mistake, you coming back validates the fact that no matter what you say, they are getting your money. go ahead, stand by everything you have said, thats fine. but your actions prove you are just peeing yourself in a dark suit. make yourself feel good, but no one else really notices, especially not SE
Hey I like FF16 don't get me wrong but it wasn't exactly perfect itself, watered down the RPG mechanics the franchise is known for and done FF14 style padding quests in between key plot points which it didn't need to do. Also its not about victory its about pointing out the hypocrisy you exhibit. Sometimes you make good points but that post the other user did shows how out of touch you are with the world or cultures and you want a game made for you and you alone....not everyone agrees with your vision as I have seen loads always debate you for your fan fiction. This isn't the game for you anymore as you so put it....do we need to go back and forth with if they changed and you came back and if it didn't you'd sub just to post why its not changing...there's no victory here...its just sad really.
Actually they converted FF11 sub money crysta or whatever its called to sub back into 14....either way they essentially gave them money regardless...
I am extremely confused how you enjoyed FF16 while bashing FF14.
To me, they both suffer from the same exact issues. I'd venture to guess that you enjoyed FF16 because its action combat is decently fresh enough (though GoW combat is frankly superior in every way) and the story remains reasonably mature throughout.
But even in the story the stench of CBU3 is unmistakable. Boring filler quests in the MSQ like getting ship parts for Mid. Egregiously bad cutscenes contrasting stellar cinematic setpieces. And Clive is pretty much a WoL - he goes wherever and magically solve people's problems, with only few exceptions.
The worst part: there is zero conflict among the main cast of protagonists. It feels much like the modern Scions. The only instance is Clive being locked up by Cid, but that lasted for like one whole minute in the cutscene and was soon forgotten - utterly pointless. Every other modern RPG manages to put conflict in the main cast, with notable examples like Mass Effect, BG3, hell even God of War does it far better than CBU3. The tension between Kratos and Atreus was extremely well written. Where is any of that in FF16?
