DRK vs. WAR: how do they compare?

Meaning a nerf to WAR's Bloodwhetting. It's the only tank that's a bit...crazy on the self sustain while doing damage. GNB can only really buy time with Aurora and HoC. PLD, I'm unsure, because I've had to deal with a lot of squishy PLD and I'm unsure if it's the players or the job.

PLD sustain is really good in a dungeon setting for LVL 90. Since your magic phase is damage and healing combined with holy sheltron its pretty much only second best to WAR. However this causes PLD to feel absolutely terrible for sustain in anything less than lvl 90 content.

I dont expect them to realistically look at the tank defensive kits until the 6.25 and the meta jobs come out and people complain and play rates for that content are released.

The key differences are that DRK is a bit more complex, but also WAY squishier in Dungeons (or anywhere with a lot of Physical Damage).
Drk is especially fragile below lvl 70 because it doesn't have The Blackest Night yet.

DRK has only 1 self heal, and it needs 13 targets to heal 50% HP (LOL)
DRK has 2 mitigation buttons (Dark Mind and Dark Missionary) that are useless on physical damage which is far more common than magic damage in dungeons.
If you want to see what attacks are Magic, you have to violate the ToS to be 100% certain.

Damage wise, DRK is higher, but you gotta mash a lot of buttons every 2 minutes. WAR is a bit weaker, but not as mashy.
The damage difference isn't really too much to be a concern though as I see it.

Depends on what content you do. In dungeons, normal raids and alliance raids it really doesn't matter, dps is negligeable in fights with no enrage that you can just slowly whittle down.

In savage however we can currently see the problem with tank dps, the gap between PLD/WAR and DRK/GNB is so big that the former get excluded from P8S parties because groups struggle to beat the enrage with the lower dps tanks.

Calling DRK more complex than WAR is a bit ...iffy, I feel. I would say they're roughly the same in that regard. In many ways DRK is just WAR with a little extra damage and a lot less survivability. The two jobs have an amount of overlap that is, in my opinion, unacceptable. They never should have been allowed to drift so close to one another in terms of overall gameplay.

That depends on context, DRK is probably the least squishy raid tank because it has two extra personal defensives compared to the other tanks but in exchange it has no strong self dungeon healing

One is highly sought after, the other is actively barred from P8S PFs.

I would call it more complex simply because there are more things you need to keep track of and the burst window is quite frantic. Warrior is literally just "What's my cooldown on Upheaval and what's my cooldown on IR?"

Outside of the opener it's honestly the same amount of brainpower. WAR you're keeping your buff up with Storm's Eye, managing Beast gauge, making sure not to overcap on Infuriate, managing Upheaval and Onslaught stacks. Meanwhile on DRK you're managing two separate gauges, Plunge stacks, occasionally popping Salted Earth.

It's definitely way busier during your opener and to a lesser extent 1 minute burst, but that's a small part of DRK's rotation and mostly you just facerolling your keyboard until all your oGCDs are on cooldown.

The lack of self sustain is a bit noticeable now in the new raid tier, considering the tankbusters are giving DoTs afterwards.
