Entire parties are now leaving ocean fishing early to chase title(s)

I see more consistent spectral currents when I wait until the last minute to register to board and end up on a boat with only 8-12 players than I do with the full boats. I highly doubt people leaving is negatively impacting the chance for a current to spawn. It might actually be helping if the chance to spawn inversely scales based on how many are on the boat as some suspect.

There are no Alliance bonuses to the best of my knowledge. The bonuses are self and party. Another party leaving the boat is not going to affect your party bonuses. Having 1-2 players drop from the party you're in likely won't affect the 10% party bonuses (the higher bonuses aren't going to get earned without a pre-formed party specifically targeting those bonuses).

You don't need 3 currents to get the mount (though it certainly makes it). I've seen several players getting the 10k+ score with only 2 currents, and came close myself on a couple of those occasions. Learning to catch the fish that require Fisher's Intuition can help offset bad spectral current RNG.

Stop worrying about what others are or aren't doing on the boat. Relax and have fun fishing. It's not designed to guarantee a good haul on every trip. That so many players have already managed to earn the mount is a bit surprising, you'd think it would be more rare with the content just over a week old.

It's basically been confirmed that the smaller group you start with, the higher chance any individual fish will proc the current, to the point where people going in solo instances have what seems to be a 100% proc rate if they catch a spectral trigger fish. What has not at all been established is that the game takes this scaling into account continuously as the instance progresses. There is no reason to assume that a group that starts with 24 people and a 24-man proc rate will adjust that rate as people drop.

Just saying, someone on the JP server solo'd the instance, got all three procs and ended up with 13k.... gonna go with "it doesn't matter what other people do on the boat"

See above post. Getting IN solo is different than getting in a 24-man and having people dropping mid-instance.

I fear that they wont do anything against it because Yoshida mentioned that they allowed people to leave because not everyone might have the time to stick to that...which I find horrible. If you dont have the time to stay on a ride that does not even take 30 minutes then dont queue up to it. Of course something unusual can happen and I guess its meant for those but then at least give a penality..I first thought that maybe that wont stop people from leaving or just make them afk it but honestly its better than people just leaving after a couple of minutes..if someone cant fish for the next few hours as punishment maybe that would stop.

But in the end its because of their design choice..its kinda like Eureka..you can be hours at it and thanks to RNG it will be a complete waste of time..seeing how we have a lot of casual players that cant just put hours and hours into this, then its a wrong choice to do content that way. I believe that people should always feel like they are working towards the goal with each visit. Not hope that RNG is nice to them..

So people who want the titles are engaging in bad behavior no matter what they do? Why not blame the people who implemented conflicting goals to begin with? That's bad design. I saw the same kind of shaming attempts when PotD and HoH were new and some people were grinding silver chests for the weapons instead of speed running for xp. The fact is players have every right to get rewards that were intentionally put in the game and that doesn't make them a-holes.

Do you imagine if they don't even have the mount by next week? How embarrassing...

Simply put, yes. And I have the same opinion of the people who make POTD and HoH miserable by yelling at/kicking players who don't want to do a speed run OR who want to pick up every single silver chest to the detriment of the group. You don't have to do either extreme, you can just...do the dungeon like a normal, friendly group and get decent silver AND decent exp without being an a-hole. Same goes here, you can just work on the title achievements with what you get instead of intentionally sabotaging the rest of the group for your own gains. Purposely stalling currents to get the titles only gives you a marginal advantage, since the other groups WILL be trying to spawn them. Just do what you can to rack up jellyfish or whatever and hope for the best, without resorting to sabotaging the rest of the group.

Is it bad game design? Sure, but again, that doesn't excuse bad behavior to get around it. Incredibly long cutscenes in Prae was bad game design, but that didn't make cutscene skippers who ruined the experience for new players right. Now if it was ONLY possible to get these achievements by working against the other two groups? I would just refuse to do the achievement then, and wait until they fix it, since a situation like that would undoubtedly be addressed. Which is exactly what I am doing right now, ignore the title achievements and focusing on the other things I need to do in there.

Same could be said about those who are not helping with titles and just aim for a high score. You can refuse to do the achievement but you don't get to decide what goals are the most important for everyone. It's arrogant to think everyone else should handicap themselves to help you achieve what you want.

This can be equally applied to title hunters and spectral fishers. So who's right, then? Who gets precedent? Who has to bend to help the other?
