The housing system in this game NEEDS A COMPLETE GD OVERHALL. Complete stupidity....

I assume this is a response to the person who used the hot phrase "housing" but just in case wanted to be clear I said house(s). Apartments are a type of housing but they're not a house especially when discussing features. As in ask a realtor to show you houses you want to buy and all they show are apartments, you then fire that realtor if they refuse to pay attention to what you're asking for especially if they start arguing "these are houses, why aren't you happy with these?". From reading people's posts and seeing their meaning most people who say instanced housing are referring to instanced houses (in the sense specifically not apartments). Apartments could technically (as a feature) be upgraded to the power of houses that's true (and further), but they're not houses at this time which is important distinction (maybe one day). Also when most people say instance they mean limitless, or so great quantity it appears limitless (there are always technically physical limitations but most people say it to mean meet the demand completely and fully, so like in Wildstar every single person in that game could have a housing zone if they so chose).

So when I say instanced houses I strictly mean at minimum full blown interior and exterior houses in their own zone, that's the beginning of I want to see. Apartments are a step in that direction but simply adding gardens would not be "yay - you did it SE" (still missing other features, like sizes, exterior, and basement). Nah I want to see SE do a lot more with housing system. I want to see the freedom and creativity provided by having your own pocket space - I think something like that would make one of the best housing systems out there in the market right now. With SE's presentation and the freedom of your own space- the creativity would be extreme. Though to note I don't want to see ward user's areas destroyed, which is why I mentioned Howel's Moving Castle concept wherein ward users can be rewarded that new power without losing their old feature.

I diverge a bit from some people who are annoyed by housing as some people do literally just want a garden (in fact some don't even want a house at all lol, they just want the garden - though I'd say that's a subset of a subset.. small group). But I diverge in that I want a lot more out of housing than it provides currently. I'm a huge fan of SE's environments and it saddens me that they've given themselves such a restricted system, especially when this FF is one of the most wild out of this world magical (less grounded magically speaking). I strongly believe if someone wants a floating island, an Ishgard perch, a Chocobo Forest, a crystaline cave, or whatever comes to their creative fancy that ideally they should be able to do it (as seen in Wildstar's creative and powerful housing). Alternatively there are other mmos (not wildstar/rift) that also have a very dynamic list of environments to choose from, just tend to be less powerful than those two that I list first.

To me it's the availability of course but it's also much more than that, it's the limitations of the system itself- I find that it's far too restrictive to what I greatly hope for this game. Felt this way since the beginning with the whole flying in crystal space scenes but greatly feel this way since the final zone of Shadowbringers which screams at this concept.

Technically you could do some sort of phasing, where there are only a small handful of wards but each house is phased (like how WoW does phasing). Your plot is your own and all the other plots are filled with other player's instances. In this way you could pick any size at any location and the wards would be always quite full of people. That'd be fairly impressive and certainly meet a lot of desires- though I still personally wish for instanced spaces (over instanced phased houses) because I feel it has a far greater potential in upgrades. Upgrades like much larger plots and houses, larger list of items to use (like spoiler objects, massively sized objects, or things like waterfall / stream pieces and other partial objects that can be used in conjoined construction), being able to scale objects, control your skybox/weather, etc. If they did phasing I'd probably go from being annoyed at the system to being impressed at the huge change and just generally wishing they had chose something different (but at least not negatively aligned against it, instead of "ugh" to like "eh.. its alright I guess").

Ultimately though I feel instanced house(s) and including their surrounding space in a more powerful feature environment would be the most befitting system for this game's atmosphere (high magic/power and freedom) and style (theme park)- where the lore and presentation I feel are best suited by that (lore started leaning that way a bit but now is pounding at the walls). Beyond, imo, being better suited for a different system I also just personally adore FF environments and find the restrictive housing system unfortunate for wanting to experience the environment at it's most (like when I saw Azim Steppe's castle in the center I was like HOUSE, I WANT MY HOUSE THERE and then immediately hit by the uncomfortable reality that nah.. our housing system can't do that.. but I know other games that could muster that.. :().

So instanced houses even better then :3. People in the wards would be those who wanted to show off, rather than those doing god knows what to their house lol. Also better since beyond people being there to want to present their house they'd probably also want to present themselves.

What needs to change is SE not punishing those who have a level 5 Marauder and no members in their FC holding a large house, the guy doesn't play on my server but he can hold that large house. Just log in for a minute and ta-da he keeps the house, it makes no sense at all.

Here's a simple fix, if you don't use your house within two days it's taken away. Or they add enough wards for everybody, and it's either personal or FC not both.

Problem #1: Personal housing as a whole
Problem #1.1: Ridiculously long demolition timer
Problem #1.2: Housing prices have gone down over time

I've never really paid any attention to the whole housing thing as I thought I would never make enough gil to have one.

I finally do and found a slot and I couldn't buy it 😭 with the whole individual purchase hold or whatever the message said

Beyond silly and kinda killed my excitement to have my own little piece of the game. I dont know why they have made such a corny system.

Sorry but this is ridiculous - my work/school schedule makes it so that I may not be able to play for 4-day stretches, as I am working 14 hours each day (Hi, healthcare). By the time my commute is over and I've prepared for the next day, I've got maybe 6 hours to sleep before I'm back at it again; logging into the game is the LAST thing on my mind during those 4 days. Are you saying that even though I play solidly on my 3 days off per week, that I do not deserve my house? Granted, I have 3 other tenants, but with the way the housing system is set up, if I personally do not log in, it does not count that the house is being used. So even though the house is being used multiple times a day, it wouldn't matter and it would be lost.

What of those that go on vacation for a week with the family? And don't say "Pack your laptop." That's not always an option, nor should it be a requirement. When I visit Iceland, again, the last thing on my mind during my time there is "Golly-gee, I'd better log into an MMO!"

You say that but on the Mega Servers like Gilgamesh and Balmung those random timers are the ONLY things keeping the Housing Mafia from getting started again. I do NOT miss having to pay someone 50 million for them give me the first chance to pay SE 4 million for a SMALL plot.

I'm of the opinion apartments should have never been added, so of course I'm not going to tell them thanks for it. They were a wasted opportunity. It's not just gardens that's missing, they're also missing the outdoor section to put our outdoor furniture in. The ability to choose house size would also be nice. Real instanced houses should have been what they did, not apartments.
