I would advise you to look at your stances. If they're greyed out you can throw cards and get seals. You don't necessarily need to throw a Combust at the begining of every fight.

The "only get seals whilst in combat" rule annoyed me so much since i couldn't always tell when i was in combat since sometimes i would throw a heal and somehow i was stil not in combat. It became more bearable once i figured out i could glance at my stances.

Well, hey...some of us are tired of seeing those unwilling to improve...and have never been required to in the vast majority of content...telling those that want the role to be engaging to shut up. Some of us are sick of seeing this role dumbed down because the “healbots” out there won’t be satisfied until everyone is dragged down to their level of effort (again...even though they’ve never been required to improve in the vast majority of content).

As AST Not getting the symbol because I HAVE to be in combat, not just my tank/party ... it just make me so furious.
Getting 3 symbole already but having to wait 40s CD on divination make me so furious.

Even WHM new lilyblood is stupid, you take 3 hours to build this thing only to get a damage spell. OK, so boring ... whatever.

SE suck so hard, they didn't test their change, there is no healer designer, they suck so much.

At this point, we may as well slap a red icon on White Mage because their already absurdly high damage would climb even further. The whole point of Misery is make all Afflatus spells DPS neutral. If they were oGCDs, it would just let White Mage spam Glare even more than it already does.

And FFlogs finally shows that actually isn't the case. Astro brings roughly 700-900 rDPS in an optimized setting while their highest upload is 6,200. That is with a hyper padded double Dancer run, by the way. White Mage beats that without a Dancer pad. Their padded runs are 9k. White Mage utterly obliterates Astro in every category, including rDPS. Even though don't have any! :p

You know what’s worse? Sometimes being on a mob’s aggro table isn’t enough to be considered in combat. Case in point last night I was running a roulette. As my tank leaped into a trash pack, I cast gravity. The spell went off and I saw the aggro list fill with 4 targets. I then proceeded to use a card I had predrawn and...proceeded not to get a seal from it. Seems like there’s another possible “tick” in the server before the game fully recognizes you as “in combat”...

WHM was not heavily underpowered, it simply lacked utility. That lack of utility made people not want to grab it when they got the healing situation to a manageable enough level that even with a weaker in terms of raw healing/DPS healer like AST that the utility brought made up for it. While SCH could DPS and heal at the same time easily on top of the utility it brought.

All WHM needed to be brought up to par with AST/SCH in terms of being picked for serious groups was to give it some utility. Even something as simple as being able to grant everyone a 20 sec Haste or Brave effect on a 2 min cooldown. Buffs that were WHM staples in other FF games. WHM would have become the high DPS high healing healer with burst utility while AST would be the low healing low DPS sustained buffs utility.

Still not sure how accurate my math is, but I took a stab at figuring out what the AST Balance-Bot gives you in terms of benefit. Kinda looks like 2% with a 4-man, 1% with an 8-man?

Looking at https://www.fflogs.com/zone/statisti...Any&dataset=90 it appears that WHM do 36% more DPS than AST. It's arguable that nearly / completely offsets the AST buffs, and would explain why they're in just 11% of these logs.

If I get back to it before 5.05, I think I'll try it without cards because that opportunity cost isn't worth it.

Fun fact:
A SCH or AST providing no pDPS because they need to heal full time still provides more DPS to the group than a WHM providing no pDPS because they need to heal full time. Why? Because the WHM doesn't have ANY DPS utility outside their own DPS, in contrast to AST and SCH who do provide some. Also, from my experience, a SCH got a far easier time upholding their DPS in healing intensive parties than a WHM does. Because it's as Exiled_Tonberry says, almost everything WHM does is tied to the GCD. It's at a point where I struggle to even find anything to weave into a Lily or Regen at times because it feels like there simply aren't enough options. That's why I think at least Misery should be taken off the GCD...

Yes, AST needs to be pushed a little, they really are a bit behind the others. But anyone believing SCH needs a massive buff, as I've seen people claim, needs to get their heads checked. As do people who think adding a second DoT will massively, magically make healer DPS more engaging.

The saddest part about all of this? I’m already seeing people telling others to not complain as changes will be made in 6.0.
