Why does this game punish you for wanting to help people?

Well, first of all that is wrong because every skill in the game is based off "Potency" not raw damage. Anyone who has played longer then 10 minutes knows this. Which means they would scale pretty well.

Unsynced is a lot different from Mentoring.

Mentoring makes you the level of that character and gives them an experience bonus but takes away your experience. It also lets you use all your skills, but reduces your gear level to theirs with a bonus.

Vertical progression MMOs are like that. New challenges are scaled with the latest gear. The easiest way to see the effects is to run some old content unsynced with a group.

The sync still leaves you much stronger than the normal player at the same level. If you really want to do carries through content (say, to help someone do the dungeons and primals in the MSQ), do them unsynced. They don't get experience from the instance but they do get gear from chests, experience from the quests, and experience from challenge log completion. The MSQ is now so experience heavy that you can get to 50 on just the quests, so power level away.

2. So this is contradicting what you said about this thread HELPING PEOPLE, you're not gonna help these people? Why? Because you're too good at the game? Get off your high horse.
3. Upping the lvl cap hasn't changed the game dramatically we have the same base core abilities with 5 extra abilities slapped on with trances/stances/etc maybe you should identify in your dungeons what the person is doing wrong then inform them. If they don't listen whatever, don't need to ridicule them.

For example you go into Brayflox Normal, you're a 50+ Blm with a 50+ Bard with all your abilities, the tank a paladin that has sword oath can't hold threat because the bards using foes and you're using flare to destroy everything and he can't hold threat. Then you make fun of the white mage because "This is a speed run you noob!" and you guys keep dying because the tank can't hold threat, healer who can't heal the whole group while everyone's taking dmg. Even being item lvl synced your gear (which is blue compared to their pink/white/green items) at it's bare item lvl sync is still superior if you haven't noticed when you're in a dungeon but you being a good player i'm sure you have. At the end of the day ilvl sync is needed whether you want it or not and these examples I gave you are perfect examples why.

That is a correct statement.

Just not in context of this thread. Let me make another example for you. I want to learn sign language, but to make it challenging we are gonna do it in a dark room.

Is that hard? yes
Is it helpful to learn? no

What you are saying would be good would not allow new players to watch and understand the basics of the system. I'm not even talking rotations and DPS, but stuff like enmity and overhealing. Low level 4 mans are easy enough as it is. They are tailored to be that way so that people can learn. Learn in an environment that is conducive to it.

Additionally, if you were low lvl how stupid would it be for you to be in an instance with people like this. Getting out DPS'd and altogether getting ignored because your a "noob". This would just make our community even more toxic.

It's quite frankly a poor idea.

No, what I said was I didn't want to put a weight around my neck whenever I wanted to help someone. I wanted to show them how powerful i've become. Impress them, not go on their level and drag them through content. To me, THAT is boring.

Upping the level cap was one of the worst decisions this game has ever done. Even my friend who praised this to be one of the best games hes ever played and has been playing since it started is starting to get bored with the game, and he has several thousand hours played.

My opinion however is that this would not only be extraneous and completely unnecessary, but detrimental. I really have no further need to argue it with you. It's obvious you have a complete lack of reason when it comes to your ideas.

Also, we'll go with your lip reading thing. This sort of system would be more like learning to do it blindfolded since you would have no structural basis to build off of.

The challenge that you touting is one that would be learned by a more seasoned crowd who already has a educational foundation built. Again though I'm not here to argue educational psychology with you.

Well, I can also take off all my gear and do dungeons with a level 1 sword. However I don't really think that is "challenging". Limiting yourself is never a challenge.

I could also tie my legs together and go try and use the bathroom. That is also pretty challenging, but.. at that point doesn't it sound a bit silly?

A true challenge is facing something at your best and struggling, not facing something at your worst.

Actually, I'd bet that if you gave a child a video of people saying sounds they'd have no idea what is being said. It's blind and foreign, but I'm signing off as this thread literally has no point anymore. Good luck with your ideas that clearly aren't getting any support from the playerbase.
