Possible solution for cash shop?

I am not okay, if SE gates an actual content behind the cash shop like Guild Wars 2. Content that contains quest, storyline or progression is not okay to be in the cash shop. Vanity stuff, why the hell not?

Excellent idea OP.

It's not the fact that people can just buy things with no effort that makes me hate the cash shop, it's the fact that I don't have the option of earning those things for myself through gameplay.

To me the challenge of obtaining the item is half the fun and I feel satisfied once I've finally obtained what I want. The cash shop takes that away and the item loses a lot of it's importance as a collectors piece (to me).

This idea seems like an excellent way to quell the rage and keep both sides of the player base happy.

Yeah, that's a concern no doubt. I think my suggestion is a viable option so long as it continues to be "optional items" on the shop. If they start to try and "paywall" other stuff, like you suggested. That would change things. With that said, one of the reasons I made this post was to generate a positive discussion. At the same time, I hoped the devs might see this and consider it and the comments made in here as valuable feedback.

That's another option. It doesn't seem like one they are planning on using anytime soon though. Perhaps in the beginning, but I'm sure with the success of the shop things might have changed.

Its ok, we get it, you are ok with the cash shop and you don't need vanity. Period. No need to write the same thing so many times.

On the other side there are people who are not ok with the cash shop and love vanity thinking of it as a game content for which they are playing and enjoying the game.

So... this thread is about a solution so that everyone could be happy!

I agree. To that end I say basically what Raidou says, add tokens that can be earned at a slow pace and use that currency to but items from the shop. It doesnt matter how long it takes or how many tokens you have to earn so it'll give is rewards for doing things we may stop after a certain point in a patch such as dailies or roulettes. It gives is incentive to keep working for something this making queues better and what not.

It is very insulting to put words in people's mouths, because you are claiming something that did not happen. and you have to validate your argument.. or there's no point in posting those claim's at all.

It works for other games like Guild Wars 2 just fine. Those games are free to play as well. Let's not underestimated instant gratification. People see something they want and buy it. Some games are purely designed with for Microtransactions like this. You can find plenty of games that let players pay $1 to get that extra thing, or they can grind for it. Often times, people spend that $1 for that extra thing, instead of grinding for it.

Just look at DLC for other games. Often times, you can unlock stuff like in game weapons or outfits after you finish the game. Or, you can buy them via DLC for like $1 or so. I made this point in my first comment, but it's almost like a difference in style of play. While there is a huge player base that will grind for things instead of buying, there is another player base, one that is perhaps larger than the grinders, that will choose to buy rather than grind.

It's quite common. They would still get money, that wouldn't change at all.

I agree with the idea of introducing an in-game way to acquire cash shop items. I'm against being able to buy subscriptions with gil though. Anything where you can affect the economy with real money.
