Then you'd have a nice story arc about the Robin Hoods muscling out the shadier THFs and starting a new era of the Thief Guild where they undermine the rich and corrupt to help the less fortunate (and themselves of course).

Replace Thief with Rogue and THF with ROG.. and everything you just said still makes sense.

No one can prove that all thieves are already NOT rogues. A thief is a rogue. Not all rogues are thieves. I don't understand why that is escaping everyone. You can still be a THIEF as a ROGUE, you just RP stealing stuff. Thats all a thief is, a rogue that steals.

You all that are in a fuss about the thief being replaced with a rogue are not thinking about those that wish to play Rogues without being a Thief at the same time.

I don't care about playing a Rogue; I care about playing a Thief. Thief is the traditional FF class. If Rogue ends up leading to a Thief job, then that's fine. The issue I was addressing, however, is not Rogue vs Thief, but the excuses being made as to why THF "wouldn't work". There have been countless examples of noble/heroic/good thieves in other FF lore, it could be done here as well.

And in 2.4 you can play a Thief. And as soon as addons come out I'll see about making one that automatically replaces the word "Rogue" with Thief" and "ROG" with "THF" every time it is typed or displayed anywhere on the UI just to quell the crazies.

Anyroad, your first point about Thief > Ninja is moot. They renamed it to Rogue even though Thief was the original "class" that turns into the Ninja "job".
So clearly they aren't worried about FF lore.
In my opinion, they should have at least kept the class name as Thief.

I think a lot of players had a small 'Say what now?' moment when Yoshida tried to explain why his reason behind the name change. After all, Yoshida's reasoning for the name change is kind of silly since Limsa Lominsa is a city built upon Pirates, some of which are employed by the city itself. Not to mention that the current leader of Limsa Lominsa is an expirate herself... =-=;;

That being said.
I hope that people enjoy playing Ninja. I know some people were really excited when they heard that Ninja was coming. Good for you! ^_^

On an slightly unrelated note, that last video of the ninjutsu- I felt as if the animations needed better transitions. The popping in and out of the characters was really distracting and jarring. It made me feel as if something was wrong with my screen @_@;;

I'd love for you to prove that all of those lovely thieves in previous FF lore were not also Rogues.

What makes you think THF is not gonna come in the future?
The Rouges in Limsa are NOT "Thieves", and do not belong to the Thieves Guild. They are ppl who gave up the Thief Lifestyle according to the story. It would not make since for the govt of Limsa to host a Thieves guild either.

So what is the rage? Story wise THF is still and option for a full job with different abilities than Ninja.

What does Locke have to do with Thieves? He's a Treasure Hunter.

It seems no one seems to know that Rogue *should* be named Thief right now. Because of logic reasons, it is named Rogue. If SE didn't care about logic, then it would be named Thief. As many have said, when XIV is dying and they try to save a dying game (see post-Abyssea) they'll introduce Thief job.

Also, come to think of it, will Rogue be something people can access when they make a new person when it comes out? Because if it can, and it was called thief, the Adventurer Guild leaders would pretty much be sending new people to die when they first set foot in Limsa. How many Thieves would willing let some random newbie no one knows walk into their guild untouched with only the word of Baderon, int his case?
