Exactly. Nice to see some understanding :) . I'm not saying for a moment that there aren't ways that SE could add to or improve their code to help with these issues, I just have to facepalm at the chumps who assume that because they have done a bit of SQL or whatever that they are automatically far more clever than existing game devs, and that their vastly oversimplified and badly thought out 'solution' could just be copy pasted into any piece of code and instantly fix any problems. It's just sheer technical derpitude of the highest order.

If you were half as smart as you were trying to sound, you would know that a simple fix at this point wouldn't solve the issue for long and would be a bandaid at best. It wouldn't take much to just have the bot walk between points or just teleport within that threshold. It would make the bot less efficient and require more of them to farm the same area, but it wouldn't solve the problem or actually make it any easier to detect.

The teleport issue is more of a problem in relation to dungeons being run by teleporting bots that can skip the majority of the dungeon content.

The heart of the problem lies in the fact that in waiting for these bots to transfer items to a secondary account for dispersal, the damage these bots do is already done both to the economy and to any players who are discouraged by seeing the same bots day after day without any noticeable sign of SE doing anything.

The moment hacks and stuff happened, SE already lost the war. What they need to do is not wait, but start acting.

SE have already LOST. They need to stop thinking up fancy tactics and ACT.

Vagrant-0 is right, dead right. Everyday goes by without actions, players lose faith. Everyday as players lose faith, a thread appears, reminding everyone the whole problem.

Is it good for the overall health of the FFXIV community?

Did you actually read my post ? The exact point i'm making is that it isn't a simple code fix like certain people seem to think. I'm not trying to sound smart, and unlike some other posters I'm not making ridiculous assumptions that I know the specifics of the code base of the game. I do however have a technical background and several years working experience in a similar field, and this is exactly why i know that these probably are hardly ever as simple and generic as people like rac25 like to make out.

Updated OP, it seems more and more people are using teleportation hacks.. im seeing it everywhere now.

You have my thumbs, for both sarcasm and truth. Like I said in first post, people don't realize it will take a lot of time. Time to find solutions and code. If anyone else thinks they can do it better, write the code up for em or stfu. Bots have been problems in pretty much all popular mmo's. Why? Because little kids with their parents credit cards or lazy and stupid people are still buyin it up from them.
Not to mention the people making the bots will just eventually find ways around their countermeasures, so there will never be a true cure. Not unless people stop buying gil from them*not going to happen*.

Are you forreal? They have a team specific to stopping and banning bots and spammers. They've gotten rid of nearly 7k of them already since launch and their doing nothing? They can't stop them from buying new accounts with all the money their getting from the morons buying the gil and running the same botting program from their computer all over again. They have implemented ways to stop them but of course their going to find ways around it, and from there all of their bots will be able to continue as before. This isn't SE's fault, it's everyone supporting them. So in reality SE didn't lose, we lost it ourselves.

I watched the video late last night/early this morning and, humorously enough, at the end of the video, where there's a display of related-videos you can watch, one of them was an advertisement for said hacks. Yes. On YouTube. An advertisement for the hacks being used in this game.

You're right it is not as simple to fix as some make out, however neither are many of the issues anywhere near as difficult as some like to make out, the reality is the games industry is shoddy, standards are often low, which is also partly why the pay is pretty poor.

When other industries put out products in the sad state most MMOs are released in they at best get a hit to their reputation and lose business, at worst they have to recall millions of products, or end up in court / government inquiry.

The problem with the game industry is there is a lack of incentive for them to do a good job, as people continue to buy the products, regardless that as software they are a joke and as a business, the game industry is small in the grand scheme of things so doesn't attract the attention of government, regulators, etc in the same way as big business does.
