They're allowed to post furry art. So says I, a furry Hrothgar player. If you cannot handle simple SFW artwork, then you may want to look deep into yourself on why that is.

I think some of it is strange, but it's a matter of personal preference. I don't consider myself to be a "furry" though, despite playing a Hrothgar. I just like lions. :p Even so, if I don't like something, I can just move past it and keep going with my day. I won't dwell on it.
lol
Yeah, that's my reaction. They have every right to post things just as you do...provided it meets the forum guidelines of course. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean that they lack any sort of "authority". The only authority here is the forum mods, absent as they may seem at times. And just because you play a Hrothgar, that doesn't entitle you to being a jerk about it. I say all of this as a Hrothgar player.
Depending on how somebody sees the criteria, liking any anthropomorphic creature can technically qualify you as a furry. People who like animal characters with personalities (Lion King, Jungle Book) and those playing anthro characters (Hrothgar, Tauren, Khajiit, etc) who just like the look and whatnot are often considered the SFW kind. You'll like art here and there of it, but you don't go delving into anything NSFW dealing with it. The NSFW deviant kind are surprisingly a minority in the furry fandom, people just have this weird thing where they consider them to be the majority when they're not. Sorta like how people tend to think most snakes are poisonous, when in reality less than 25% of species of snakes are venomous.
Phew! I'm not a furry then. I was worried there for a second!

You know I've always wondered if there was actually a distinction. 'Cause dragons and stuff are cool. I'd consider a cool looking reptile race in a game. Still never actually played one, always preferred elves or plain humans. Also, argonians look dumb. Like, even in ESO they look dumb.
Oh yeah, female hrothgar, female hrothgar..
Sure, they can look good with no hair, but I'd rather them have the option of hair, so everyone wins. Some nice styles too, so they look good. Preferably not locked to faces... They need to fix that fantasia thing first too. Probably said this before.
Might be able to actually see moon cat fangs then!
This is a great vid about the history of the fandom, the name and how there's no real agreed upon unified meaning behind it beyond having an appreciation for depictions of anthropomorphic characters.
I know not everyone is on the same level or page on these kinda things, but I also know that much of this player base is defined by "thirst" and gravitate towards things they find sexually attractive for 1 reason or another. This is pretty out-n-proud on the Viera male thread where everyone wants their desired vision of a hot or cute guy bod, but I feel like things over here gets real silent cause very few want to be called a furry.
I personally don't shy away from the topic, I think Hrothgar males are hot and are clearly a successful attempt at making an attractive furry character model (which isn't shocking given how the devs make characters). I simply expect and want the females to also be something many could enjoy as being aesthetically attractive furry characters. Furry art and Fan-art from Western RPG games/ media IPs show this off the best, so I use it to show my love for the topic as people who like that type of art will undoubtedly be part of those who pick them up.
I'd prefer they have hair as well, and that the males had hair to. But looking at everything in the game it seems like YP's vision for the males being "beastly lion men" is to give them unyielding manes that are simply part of their character model that they can not control or shave off ... and that vision for their manes seems to be at least A factor in why the males can't wear hats (but can wear hoods).
I could easily see them saying "In order to get that elegant lioness look we didn't give them hair, but because of that we were able to give them hats!" seeing as that seems the direction they went with the art. If it's a choice between the Viera and Hrothgar head non-sense as it currently is and "no hair, but you can wear ANY hat for your gender along with all the types of headgear the males can wear" I'd go with the 2nd option as the hats in this game will do far more to make your character look unique than a handful of hairstyles ever could.
In short, I think the way they did Hrothgar male manes was horrible and with the logic displayed with that I could easily see them deciding not to give females hair at all but there may be an upside to that.
-----------
Enough of that.
Almost forgot my daily dose of art.
Perhaps I'm unique in this thread, but I've never cared about demanding they look a certain way other than "attractive and cute" as that's the way the dudes were made. Given the art making them look to have a body shape similar to Viera and Highlander confirmed to me that they will deliver on that front. W/e flavor of that they go for, be it extreme sexual dimorphism/flat faces/animal faces/Updated Mithra is fine by me.

I just feel bozja could‘ve been the perfect opportunity to reveal female hrothgar. i just think the whole storyline would be much better with actual hrothgals instead of that cheap replacement we got with female roe. :(
Hopefully we‘ll see them soon!
These would be some ugly females in game, the males are just as ugly and I hate looking at them.
While I disagree with the above statement about being female Roe being ugly vehemently, I feel like female Hrothgar can be introduced just as beastly as the males and not be ugly.
FemRoes have an exotic look to them, doesn’t make them unattractive. Just not to everyone’s tastes. I find them more appealing than miqo’te, midlander, and auri females. That’s just my taste and I don’t see why female Hrothgar couldn’t be approached in a similar way. With an exotic look while still being beastial like the males.
I really like the tabaxi approach to female hroths. It’d be neat if they finally did another race like hyur and had one clan be big lion/panther women and the other clan be more like big cats, like cheetah or lynx.
I don’t think it will happen since the make hroths got “do you want a hot lion or a cold lion? Now pick from 4 faces and 2 hairs.” But you know, a girl can dream.
Anyway, given that Yoship made a big show about the wanting this game to last for at least another decade, I do think we will get both female hrothgar and male viera at some point. Possibly after a massive upgrade, as that is something they will absolutely 100% need to do if this game is going to last. He has gone on record several times (as recently as the last month) saying that they are reaching their limits on what they can do and that it impacts their workflow significantly. With the conclusion of 6.0 seeing us moving into a “new adventure”, my money is on the overhaul being then, and with it, the absent genders.
Yeah, no.. they aren't really exotic. If a person wanted to be nice, they could say femroes look weird, but that's the best I could see it.
Actually hilarious, but so true! ..You know what, not really! Femroes look more like plain old Frankenstein's monster!
You can very much like or play a character for any number of reasons. For example, I know not everyone who plays a Roebro is gay or into bara and I know that not everyone who plays Femroe plays them as a futanari, but I do recognize that a number of people do play them for those reasons and there's nothing wrong with that.
That's the beauty of it, you can like what you like for w/e reason, and it's cool. This player base (like most Eastern MMO player bases) is full of thirst, so there's always going to be people who are drawn to something for that reason. It's clear that the devs know this, so I don't really shy away from it.
You don't have to take on the label of "Furry" if you don't want to be associated with that scene, but there are many people who do call themselves furry who simply think "Anthros are cool" and nothing else.
Just because they don’t have the small frames, rounded races and big eyes of the more popular female races doesn’t make them monsters or weird. You’re entitled to feel that way about them if you want just as I am entitled to find auri female obnoxiously small and UwU cute for no reason. Especially with how drastically different they look to males.
....femroes look closer to irl women than au ra none of this makes sense
THIS!
This is what I've been trying to bring to people's attention! (But this thread has been troll baited recently and of course we cycle back to feminine vs masculine sub-plot)
I had hope, but I thought Female Hrothgar were a lost cause because I thought that ... this game was in going into "wrap it up" mode. It's easy to forget, but this game is old AF and still carries design debt from it's botched history and limitations from being made with PS3 tech in mind.
So in my mind this was it, the story would wrap up and we were going to get a new FFMMO in the next few years oooooor we get an extreme engine and graphics overhaul because they've been reaching their limits for some time now and at some point it's going to be harder to do things with their outdated methods. That's why when he said he sees this as his life's work and that they're going to do everything they can to make this the best game it can be for the NEXT decade I felt like that means they're going to address this. I also don't think they're going to let people cry about Viera male and Female Hrothgar for a damn decade more.
I'm expecting that massive engine and graphics overhaul sooner than later. FF14 is sitting pretty on the MMO hill but Sega's PSO2 is getting a massive push in the West, and it's super popular in Japan already plus Namco's Blue Protocol is getting hyped so they've got to be seeing that they need to stay competitive on these fronts.
You're expecting to much...even with the PS5 coming in and eventually PS4 support will get dropped, there is no way they are gonna overhaul the whole system.
Im not even talking about money here, I mean from a technical standpoint. There is SO much that would have to be worked on that it would just make more sense to make a whole new game with better tech. FF: XIV still looks pretty darn good, could it be improved? OH, OF COURSE.
But a literal overhaul just...doesn't sound likely.
PSO2 has never been localized to the west, so thats part of its popularity that Westerners can finally play it.
I don't know about you, but this thread has been HILARIOUS recently. I haven't laughed this much for a while now.
See, I always thought this game would last for awhile, rather than "wrap up" mode. Making a new MMO is very expensive, and this one is already very profitable, fairly popular and competitors like WoW are still going. I always hoped, and saw this game going forward for many years yet. Despite the negativity. This game will definitely need some huge overhauls though if they expect to go that full 10 years. Like some serious overhauls. They never ruled out male viera or female hrothgar, if they can do it, I expect they will probably do it.
Sooner than later though, now I don't know about that one..
