salt and darkness act like a finisher because it require you to set up a salted earth first. if you decide that something isn't a finisher by animation then carve and spit would have been classified as a finisher long ago.



Try imagine salted earth>Abyssal Drain>darkpassenger>salt and darkness=set up>build up>finisher
There are now a link instead hit a buff like delirium and unload all your bloodspiller and ogcd available.


Having to remember about Blood Weapon cost for Living Shadow isn't anything to brag about since the tool kit is decided for 2min burst even an old man can do. The player must have been out of touch if they fail to have 20 blood for LS. So it is no way a challenge worth mentioning or preserving.


If the shield didn't break how could that attack reduce your hp? and why would you lose mp for it when this tbn is now having no cost?


TBN gain 10% damage reduction every 25% while dark mind is removed and gain a 1200 pot free heal on player decision isn't a nerf

Look man Salt and Darkness is an incredibly underwhelming looking finisher if that's the case. Abyssal Drain is far and away a better looking animation if you want an aoe finisher. Finishers should look satisfying to execute especially if they are on a 90 second cooldown. S&D is not that.

I'll say it again, Bloodspiller only looks boring to us because of how often we use it. Take Delirium making us use it 3 times out of the equation or make Delirium give us a combo that starts with it and it'll feel less bland.

Did you read when I said Scourge would be the ability that costs 20 gauge, not Living Shadow? Having to remember 20 gauge for an ability on a 120 second cooldown is laughable at best.

I actually didn't think of it like that, my bad.

I would still prefer it in its current state though. Having a short cd on a 15s CD with the mp cost instead of 25s with no cost actually makes it feel different from the other tanks.

You're proving my point that you decide what is a finisher by the animation and not the function which isn't logical. Abyssal Drain may look cooler than S&D but it lack the function to make it a finisher. So even if AD got even better animation it would still unable to become a finisher without a function that support it.


on topic about scourge for people who only kept the nostalgic about this old action I can't help them but you can't drag me to board the train of people that addicted to a dot and wish for it to return. Aside from the animation scourge to me doesn't give better feeling than sonic break and the latter is start to feel not special to me. I'm one of people who don't excite over a dot that everybody can have. We aren't gonna having a discuss which the ultimate goal is bringing the old action back, please leave me out of that club. If anyone still missing it then they could consult papachin and dalamud for that.

People want good animations back because they felt good to press for animation alone, what a concept! I don't care how they bring it back I just want to feel my sword swings that are on the GCD to feel like they have weight again. Given the only good looking animations since 5.0 are Stalwart Soul and Oblation, and I've warmed up to Edge of Shadow a sizable amount. (Shadowbringer would be on the list if it lasted a tad longer) It isn't far-fetched to say it would just be easier for them to bring them back. Would I like for them to make newer animations with different functions than ones in the past? Sure. They haven't given me any reason to believe they have those intentions, though.

I have already told you there is no need to get me on board your nostalgic train. I don't want to spend my time doing that

Neither do I. I'm just here to provide feedback, suggestions, and discuss. I want them to prove me wrong, and do something good and fresh with my dedicated main to give it its own identity. I'll have to wait until media tour and the job action trailer to see if they are though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If they don't reflect on their action for the past then I will just wait for another company to deliver a better game that worth my time and money instead. I won't put up with abusive relationship another year.

It's less "this was the old DRK vs. now" and more of "I'm wielding a giant sword, but it doesn't feel like I'm wielding a giant sword despite the fact that it is one". I don't care how they go about it (so long as don't keep DRK as an oGCD Warrior in 7.0), but I'd like my GCD's to feel like they have more oomph. However, trying to get these points across to you feels ultimately pointless, yeah.

Eh, I've already been feeling that. I've been playing other games and when i get the drive to play some ffxiv, i do.

Hell, FFXVI is coming in June, I'll probably be grinding everything to oblivion on that just like I did with FFX. In the meantime, there's Elden Ring and Resident Evil 4 Remake, and I need to get my hands on the MegaMan Battle Network collection

If you merge TBN with Oblation you are just making it harder to gain Dark Arts. That's the reason the developers decided to make it a separate button to begin with. Merging it with Dark Mind doesn't mean you are making DRK be no longer the "Magic defensive tank" but you are perhaps helping it in level 70 content where you don't really see the bonus of that?

If anything:
-> Either make Delirium a combo like PLD's Requiescat combo / GNB's Gnashing fang combo OR make it an entirely new thing that is NOT Inner Release but for DRK nor a combo - something unique. ( ex: Converts Darkside into Blood, prevents gaining Darkside but you gain Blood ). Inner Release on Warrior is somewhat cool because of the Fell Cleave critical hit being its identity and the really cool visual effects. DRK has none of these.

->Move C&S and AD to be GCDs with a short cooldown ( 20 seconds ) Their cooldown being tied is alright since you'd wanna use either depending on the situation.

->Add some form of sustain. It can be either a new ability that heals you instantly consuming Darkside or "Enhanced Dark Arts" which would make the free Edge/Flood of Shadow heal you.

->Merge the defensive cooldowns. Either upgrade TBN into Oblation or Dark Mind and Oblation together. For the first part a decent work around would be to change TBN to be "a barrier equal to a heal of 1200 potency"

->Living Shadow change to be No Mercy but cooler visual effects please?
