Almost at 150! You can do it guys!
Depends why you mean by replayability. I would use the term to describe content that makes me want to do it again simply because it was fun.
If you mean "a requirement to do this an arbitrary amount of times to earn a reward" then that's not replayability, that's propping up content with rewards so people have to do it whether they enjoy it or not, and makes it impossible to judge whether people actually enjoy it and want more of it based on participation numbers.
The housing system only locks you into being subscribed for a pattern of one month on, 1.5 months off. Less than half the year.
Or just take the plunge and let go of the house if you only want to subscribe occasionally. It's not that exciting to own one, is it?
I'd say it is.
Especially if you're lucky enough to own a medium or large plot since there's a lot of things that can be done to truly indulge one's personal style.
It's also one of the few pieces of content that is consistently updated with every single content patch.
Plot 3, 24 Ward, The Lavender Beds on Cerberus is my house, if anyone's in the mood to check it out for themselves.
Hey Aveyond. That .gif is... /cheffskiss
Like...I can HEAR that.
EDIT:
Agree with you on housing.
...but on the replayability thing: The trick is to make multiple ways to get a given reward. That way, players choose which thing they actually like. Granted, it's possible a player may not like ANY of the options. An extreme example of this (perhaps TOO extreme) is the current Relic where you can do anything that grants tomes to work on it...and MOST things in the game will give you some Causaility to work on it.
lol, and people hate it. XD
(Okay, not everyone, but quite a few.)
So I guess it's a balance, and a hard one to get, to give people things they find meaningful, not require them to do only one thing to get them that might be a thing they personally dislike, but not make it so open-ended that it loses its feeling of uniqueness and people's connection/feeling of satisfaction for obtaining it.
Glad she's stating her honest opinion.
I also think Endwalker was a significant downgrade from Shadowbringers. That's the expansion I have felt the least connected to.
And not only the game has been less exiting, but there are also a LOT of amazing games out there lately.
It feels harder and harder to even log back in.
Remember...its ok to play other games.
Take a break, and come back later.
I dont say this as some stupid asinine defense of the game or quoting Yoship. Its just a simple statement.
There are other interesting and exciting games out there? Then go play them. FFXIV isn't your life, or the only game you "need" to play. Go try and enjoy other games.
Played Breath of the Wild Recently, and Armored Core VI. Pretty fun games.
I would have never tried them, if the only game I ever played was FFXIV
That was an Extreme?....Jesus People. Lol
Reasons to log-in and play differ from person-to-person, there is content to log in and play, but I understand some of it doesnt have alot of staying power for some people.
All I can say is, hopefully this will be FFXIV's 1 Bad Expansion. Or at least just the Weakest Expansion
I took a break from about a week after 6.1 launched till about 3 months ago, so over a year, in that time I played other games (even now coming back to the game I still play other games)
In that year the game released (I’m excluding savage and up because I’m not doing savage this expansion if I did include it if adds 2 tiers, 2 ultimates and a criterion which isn’t bad)
-1 alliance raid
-2 dungeons
-2 trials
-1 variant dungeon
-a few updates to island Sanctuary
-maybe 3 hours of total story
-EO
So for taking a year off I got 1 week (being generous) of content rather than getting 3 sets of 2 days worth of content
Remind me again how this is a “solution”
Playing other games isn't the extreme here, I was happily still playing other games when Eureka and Bozja were current content and I'm still doing so now. Implying that that we want this game to be the only game we play is. We already know. We've been told more times than I care to count.
I didnt name a solution. All I said was "Its ok to play other games"
Endwalker is obviously the Weakest Expansion, and for some people the wait isn't paying off. Im not gonna sit here and tell you everything is fine and to be silent about issues.
All I said was, Other games exist, its ok to play them, and take breaks.
Didnt work out?...thats very unfortunate. I cant do about it.
It may not have been your intent, but it could be taken that way.
I'm not really going to argue with you about what means what though, it doesn't really get us anywhere lol
Nonetheless, yeah. This expansion is by far the weakest of the ones I've been here for, and I'm huffing full on hopium for Dawntrail because I have zero expectations of them displaying that they listened to the feedback with the next criterion to put more focus into DT.
My Intent is Constantly misunderstood, and misinterpreted. Often Twisted.
I do kind of wish we could chill sometimes. Especially some people who seem to eager to throw down over an opinion XD.
But anyway, you're right, nice to see some Level-Heads around here.
Honestly, Ill say I do expect more of the same in Dawntrail. But I dont think thats a BAd thing really. Just that Jobs need to not feel Bad to play, and they just need to do better on some of their content. I only played Criterion once, liked it, but saw the bad Reward Structure, not surprised it Died.
And I was hyped for the New Deep Dungeon, but was Furious that they did the same thing with Heaven on High and made it only 30 Floors unless you had a Perfect Premade. I didnt even really run Deep Dungeon for any end goal other then it being fun. And I couldnt have that in 30 floors.
Dont know yet what their complete Roadmap is for DT, but I do Hope we dont get the same mistakes.
And Im really sick of this mentality.....Im not trying to do that at all.
I was honestly expecting it to be 30 floors then you'd need premade, if I remember right..they did mention it was going to be more akin to Heaven on High when it was announced.
Outside of not expanding upon DD in Endwalker, the biggest crime was not making it a good way to level up alt jobs imo.
Outside of that, jobs need to feel better to play instead of..whatever their current path is of over-simplifying it, raid buffs need to be spread out again, and content needs to actually have longevity. I was super excited for criterion but then I seen the rewards and was met with complete and utter disappointment and dipped. It's at least good to hear the content itself is great..Now here's hoping they keep it and improve its reward structure instead of removing it to meet their stale formula that desperately needs shaking up.
Also on the hope crew for a field zone with 7.X.
I am still really broken up that EW's Deep Dungeon couldn't be more like Palace of the Dead. I REALLY want another Palace of the dead. But I guess Im just not going to get it.
Good point, thats one more reason why I loved Palace so much, I used it to level all my jobs. Between 30 to 50. I played alot of Palace lol.
Im indifferent to Explore Zones...but if I liked Bozja, I think they can make me like another one. I just wish and hope there could be multiple ways to do a relic instead of just 1 type of Grind.
Bring Relevance back to GCs for Instance, or it would be neat to have reasons to go back into the Open World.
When can you stop repeating the same lines over and over again ? Hmm ?
It's funny because people like you actually care far less about FF14 than the complainers. You just want everyone to quit and play other games. Complainers actually want to try to salvage the dumpster fire before giving up. Capiche ?
Coming from the guy who keep making threads with repeating tired old arguments such as worst expansion, no content, homogenization, predatory cash shop…etc.
And no. People who RMT with alts don’t care about the game. It’s disingenuous to say they do
I've been playing this game for like three years now, reaching almost 9000 hours in the game as of today. I came to a realization today when thinking about my time spent in 14.
I remember joining during ShB and being so completely addicted to the game as I made my way through ARR-what was current content at the time. I remember when Bozja came out right when I was just finished catching up with all of the story content which dragged me back in and kept me logging in until Endwalker's launch.
I can't say the same thing for the current expansion. Starting around maybe 6.2-6.3, I started feeling less and less of a pull to log in. That does not mean that I hate the game as a whole and want to stop playing, I still enjoy pvp and working on one or two long-term achievements. However, I feel like there is less to log in for compared to when Bozja was released and it opened up an entirely new map with things to do. I am still doing DRS regularly to this day because I enjoy it so much and nothing in Endwalker has come close to taking its place outside of maybe Criterion.
My main fault with Endwalker lies with the relic grind. I can appreciate the fact that they made it more accessible to people but at the same time, I think it's lacking something "fresh" to keep people who want something to new to sink their teeth into interested (speaking specifically of how every step is just a token grind rather than switching up how the steps work or how they can be completed). It works for people who don't have a lot of time in their day essentially, which is fine. I'm happy for those people.
However, with the recent news of Square's financial status, it does make me question whether or not they'll end up raising sub prices to try to make up some of their losses. If they did, I honestly don't know whether or not I'd be comfortable paying a higher price for what is currently being offered now. I'm hoping Dawntrail shifts things back in a direction where they'll be more willing to take risks and provide more engaging long-term content but I honestly don't know. It just makes me sad to think about how much I used to be in love with this game and now I find myself logging in maybe once or twice a week for some pvp.
My biggest issue with the relic is that is causality and not poetics
If it was poetics I could do content I really like... Bozja... for the relics. Instead the best way to do relics is with a level 90 class doing dailies and spamming aetherfront
Thats why I didn't bother even unlocking Manderville, so much for a "relic you can finish doing anything!" EXCEPT the content I really like or leveling other jobs
To be fair to Yoshi and co they have added some nice quality of life improvements that were definitely needed to the game. PvP has definitely been a plus of course and all. That being said there's been some shortcomings as well, the Variant Dungeons are good but they should have thrown the relic upgrade items into the loot pool so that you could farm them for repeatable for example. I was rather disappointed as well that they keep all the relics using the same 2nd tier tombstones throughout instead of assigning them to poetics so I could at least upgrade lower level relics as I work on the main one like in past patches. This has actually put me off repeating the old content even. I don't hate the game it just feels like somethings missing this time around compared to the previous expansions. Island Sancturary was OK to me but once your done upgrading I've little interest to go back to it. Then you have the disappointment with the healers too since Shadowbringers. All in all I don't hate the expansion, it does feel somewhat underwhelming of course but considering we know they're going a graphics overhaul of the game for 7.0 as well as the addition of Female Hrothgar (eventually) then it's likely development resources for these 2 have been getting diverted away from content in recent months because of this.
I'm only hoping with Dawntrails that we can get a new approach with content in the game because while having consistency is good the content as it is currently does begin to get stale and repetitive.
Serious question, why is this thread 149 pages in just two weeks? Did something happen?
Led Zeppy got ina mood, made a vid and the fire spread.
