kind of a lame update, back to any tard wearing high rank gear because they can, and low end gear still costing out the ass because noone wants to make it, or DoL bother getting those materials.

It doesn't say anything about NM drops or such content equipment being with rank requirements (probably will have though, and I'm OK on this part since it makes sense) but also says when going into battle, or contents (like raid) they want more equipments that have rank requirements, and for general use to wear in cities and stuff they will still have optimal rank equipment.
To me that sounds like if you want to play dress up we'll have those but for going into battle you will have to put on rank required gear, which is fine but same time means I would have to carry more gear if I want to play high level job first then switch to low rank gear.
Oh well as long as they don't put rank/class requirements on subligar I'm ok... I guess (j/k)
The reason people wear high level gear (30-50) when low level is quadfold
1. They already have a level 50 and dont want to bother changing gear when changing class for a few leves.
2. They dont want to spend money on gear between 1-30 because you litterally are in that level range for less then 5 hours (Speed runs have people getting to 30 in 1 Leve Reset)
3. The material lists requirements are shit so making them yourself sucks.
4. The material lists requirements are shit so crafters overcharge for them.
Its not always because the person is retarded.
Id have to agree with 1.
As for 2, not everyone is in some kind of uber speed run sp grind linkshell, shrug.
3 & 4, well thats your personal opinion~
Triary had a chance to confirm with Yoshida yesterday about all of this discussion going on regarding Optimal Rank gear, etc.
New gear that will be introduced in the future will move towards having an exclusive class and required rank requirements. However, not all gear will have an required rank or exclusive class, and new gear without requirements will also be added. For example, we will make distinctions on the type of gear itself, such as gear that is worn in town will have no requirements, and gear for battles and raid challenges will have an exclusive class and necessary rank.
Hopefully this gives a better insight into the direction we are heading.
It would really help if they showed the actual change in stats that would occur when you put on the gear based on your level. If people could see that they'd be losing going down in a particular stat before they even purchased the item, they wouldn't bother with it. As it stands, I have to buy it, put it on and compare my new stats to the ones I had wearing my previous armor.
Only problem is having even more stuff to keep/carry around..
I did like the armour working with the armoury system.. but I can see the point in making the gear more classic mmo style for people.
At least it means we might get some more better looking armour some time soon.
