You can't get mad at me for not upgrading if I only have 50k gil and everything you're teling me to buy cost 10 mil and above. 50k does not equal 10mil plus. -.- Why is this crap priced so high? It's going to take forever for me to get to skalla now since I'm still ONLY 298. I just got to endgame btw so yeah. I dont' see gear being ran out too fast when I can't even gear up that fast. Feels like it's going to take years.

If you just got into endgame level, don't stress. Just run the highest dungeon you can, grab a few pieces of gear, then you'll move into the Skalla range soon. :) Once you get ilvl 305, you can also run Rabanastre - they've unlocked the gear now, so you can lot on things as often as you like.

When you're gearing for endgame as a new player, I would say just ignore the overpriced crafted gear.
Focus on getting tomestones for the previous tier.

So right now the tome tier is mendacity, so focus on getting creation (previous tier) tomes. There are lots of way to get tomes and it's a very clear goal that isn't defined by crazy gil prices or luck from dungeon drops.

Here are ways to get creation tomes:
- most roulettes if queuing as a 70 (check the reward list)
- pvp
- all 70 dungeons give it as a reward
- hunts (join a hunt linkshell)
- wondrous tails, if you're lucky
- level 70 trials (royal menagerie in your case)
- Deltascape (it's 295 min, you can do it)
- when you do the above and get to 305, Rabanastre gives creation + coins (for upgrades)

Just farm some Creation (daily roulettes) and buy i330 gear (can be upgraded to i340). At i305 you can enter Rabanastre which also drops i330 gear and the items you need to upgrade creation gear to 340. It's quite fast gearing a job to 340 now. :)

I've been doing kagane the past two days and haven't tried detla but once. as in when I went to it I was below the ilvl.. but now I can try it. So I'll do those to break up the kagane and fist grind. So thanls for that. It was mainly a rant as a few people ingame have told me to get crafted gear or they wouldn't run with me but yeah. unless I do something stupid like buy gil I'm not making that amount in a few days.. And those people telling me ingame wasn't offering to buy it either so I vented cause yeah. but thanks for those, going to que for detal now. Hopefully I don't get kicked for being low ilvl when everyone is rocking 340 plus. :c Yes that's happened before.. in kagane. :c

Is this a glitch? Last night, I won a piece of PLD gear, and then on the next boss, I was able to lot on a piece of caster gear with no issue. X: I quickly passed as I wasn't actually needing the gear, just wanted to see if I could.

Just adding that Palace of the Dead also gives tomes if you are at 70. It will actually give all three kinds I'm pretty sure(I know it did before, not sure if they changed it as I honestly don't go in there much/at all these days).

Cracked cluster reward is the only thing that's weekly now *shrug*

Doing a last minute O2 normal for the week before maint and I get into a group with this Sam you know "that Sam with the edgey glamour and edgey search info" anyways i'm watching the fight and they're mostly AFK auto attacking, dying to everything I mention to the group they're AFK. Nothings said as usual, the healers raised everyone but me (OT), the MT and my Blm friend, checked the DPS at the end and the Sam who was afk was doing 1000 DPS...sigh decided to hold off on loot because I was after the bolt maybe others will want the lens or whatever. I

n the end the bolt was left annnnd...the Sam who was AFK won it and went "haha sucks to be you guys" and left, like why do you que into a raid and do nothing and reap the rewards? it's so annoying when you and the other DPS who's doing 5k+ DPS and you're doing 3700, being the top 2, yes I know it's normal but at least put some effort into the fights and do more than just 1k DPS.

Wanted to give a shoutout to a group I had yesterday:

I hadn't done the two new dungeons yet because I was super nervous about pugging them. I finally worked up the courage to try Fractal Hard for the first time. It ended up being a nice quick run with everyone on point. The tank even made a comment about how good the DPS was. I ended up with a commendation as well.

So to that group, thanks for the great run. It really made my day :)

I had a pretty bad run yesterday in Temple of the Fist and I only had myself to blame. It was my firs time doing it and instead of going in with a job I have become very familiar with I decided to go in as a smn. Now smn was my main in 2.0 and 3.0 but I just got it to lv70 and oh boy learning this new rotation is going to take time. Bahamut changes thing quite a bit.

Just finished my first blind run of Jade Stoa as RDM...so much ressing, so little MP...so much FUN! I can't wait to unlock, and do, the extreme version.

Was trying to finish my last Mahatma for my Zodiac by running World of Darkness. Someone called out that there were a bunch of new players in this particular run (usually an 'uh oh' moment) and seeing how no one spoke up, I took it upon myself to give a very brief rundown of the various rooms and what to expect as we went. Each explanation took about 30 seconds or less and while I mostly know the sure-kill mechs (and not everything) and certain bits got wobbly WE DIDN'T WIPE. NOT ONCE. It was a great run with great people and more importantly, IT WAS FUN. It reminded me why I still venture out into the wilds when the FC is asleep. (Because sometimes it's awesome.)

Let me share something with you:

There's a hidden, super secret elaborate algorithm implemented by SE, which purpose is to equalize player's performance across the board. This algorithm meticulously measures and evaluates the quality of one's individual play, and based on the result modifies the RNG coefficient assigned to that person's rolls, so the underperformers have proportionally increased chance to win the roll. The reasoning behind this is twofold:

1) The lack of skill/quality is to be compensated by higher iLVL/brute force. As the difference between bad player in good gear and good player in bad gear is smaller than difference between bad player in bad gear and good player in good gear - equalization.
2) To remove the underperformers from the equation (in this case PUG pool) as soon as possible. If the bad player gets their reward during their very first run, they won't "pollute" the overall PUG group any longer. Meanwhile the good player/player who carried the group will be forced to repeat the run for extended period of time, which subsequently raises the chances of further groups (ones which this player joins) to likewise successfully complete the content.

In other words: the more you play like a piece of s**t, the bigger chance you walk away with the loot.

One I’ve had in the past when healing:

One of the party members is killed instantly and a Red Mage revives them instantly before me as though it’s a competition to get there first.

Then said revived party member fawns over the Red Mage for reviving them, even though I’m doing a perfectly good job (dps and healing) and no one else dies in the run. :(

At least it's 1000+ MP you didn't have to burn in one go.

When I'm healing and a RDM does that, I give them a comm. That's someone using their skills effectively.

I'm guilty of doing this on my RDM. :X I'm not sure if it comes from being a WHM main, but if i see someone go down, I'll always try and give them a quick raise if I can.

I swear I'm not doing it to be annoying - just trying to help out. I know sometimes when I'm on WHM, it's nice to not have to worry about a raise on top of other things - or sometimes my SC is just down and that poor soul would have be to waiting there awhile. :X

Brayflox Longstop normal. Me and my FC mate healer queue in...

Tank runs off before protect. Pulls the whole room except the group by the gate. Tank dies part way through. Kill the pack tanking as RDM (other party members were BRD and WHM).

Healer gets salty, tank ignores and runs off again before protect. Healer says he will just let the tank die. We get to the boss, I realize the tank is not using grit or darkside. I politely ask him to use either. He uses grit for the last 10 seconds of the boss, then removes it for the rest of the dungeon. He continues to run off, but is now only pulling one enemy at a time when available, or just 1 3 pack when available. Does this up until after the 2nd boss, all the way through the swamp. So slow. Then after the 3rd boss, he pulls the first 3 packs. After a wipe, he then starts pulling the packs to the entrance of the minizone to avoid the patrols. worst run ever. Typing doesnt do it justice.

If its the tank that goes down, IMO, its better for the RDM to do the raise so the whm can focus on healing the non tank thats about to get aggroed.

True...there was a fair amount of carrying the BLM who didn't move out of ley lines, the healer who was lagging/almost DCing the whole time, and the BRD was always the top priority on my "to res" list(love me some refresh when I'm almost always empty on it). But it was still a fun fight, even with my death due to being distracted.

I was doing a ST run on my alt DRG. During Amon when you need to hide behind the ice boulders everyone was yelling at me to get behind the rock. I knew this, I was just gonna elusive jump to it. I expected to have to adjust slightly, but I literally landed perfectly behind it and then spineshattered back on boss immediately after.

I got 7 comms that run as a DPS. I don't know if they were all together. Can you even get comms from other alliances? I don't give out comms in 24 mans because very few deserve it LOL so I've never looked.

Provoke Shirk is part of my OT rotation. I use it on CD if there is no need to swap due to mechanics.

This is why I have always advocated for an official unmitigated parsing solution. You can't fake blame over "perceived" DPS when it's widely available to any and all immediate players.

Ironicly enough - I play to have fun too!

The difference is that my idea of fun is not carrying 1.5k DPS level 70 i330+ players considering my i260 level 60 DRG can do double that dropping Blood of the Dragon 4-6x a dungeon, forgetting to use 4th weaponskills 50% of the time, and forgetting about Battle Litany all together.

Thanks for the retest! So about a 10% difference. I honestly thought it might be more(my mental estimate was about twice that - which is why we test rather then estimate). Like i said, my thinking was based on that strongest foul at 15k. I have the 340 weapon(for a little longer) and i regularly see fouls hitting in the 25k+ range. They must be much worse then i thought(and i already apologized on behalf of all BLMs so i thought pretty bad). Also, they were in Skalla which is only i300 required - adding to my maybe they just hit 70 and had suck gear hypothesis(which is now disproved).

So youre doing all at once the gear grind that the rest of us spent the last 6 months on. I get it, its frustrating - i was well behind at 60 so i went through the same thing. So first, dont stress. You dont need to gear up in a day. Second, use the resources we had for 6 months(which were boosted in this patch) to get a leg up. Put up a PF group to run delta 4(story) several times. With 7 runs you get an item that can be exchanged(with some creation tomes) for a 330 weapon - and in those 7 runs you might also get enough parts to exchange for other pieces you want/need. Then one run of Raba, and the coin you get can upgrade that weapon to 340(or any other creation piece) along with a chance to win some 330 armor. You can do this repeatedly if you like to upgrade more creation pieces and maybe winning more Raba ones. Honestly, in a weekend you could knock out what most of us spent a month on(lifting weekly restrictions is THAT strong). Then third, use the new resources available to get ahead. You only need 325 to get into sigmascape, and that gives you parts for 350 gear(sigma 4 also has that get 7 of them drop for a new 360 weapon). All these runs will give you a ton of the new mendacity tomes(probably capping them in fact), and those buy 360s. The only catch is that the newer stuff still has restrictions - only 450 earned tomes per week, and only 1 raid drop per tier per week. But those restrictions are on everyone, not just you. It will all go faster then you think. Stay positive!

For what it's worth, even if you run big pulls you experience the rare "elitist casual" who will yell at you for not being causal enough lol. I've literally had a DPS criticize me in discord for pulling too much when both the healer and myself thought it went well.

If you're experiencing this frequently though, you may want to have an experienced tank mentor you. Inexperienced tanks can cause significant issues for parties, but many of those issues, once identified, can be fixed with minor playstyles changes. If you can't find someone, I'll volunteer, but keep in mind my adamantoise chars are only lvl 60.

Funny thing happen today in Stone Vigil(NM). I think the DRG assumed I was going to skip the room with the single drake and head into the first big room with the 3x aevis, drake and 3 of those flying baby dragon things. Not sure what tank has the balls to pull that whole thing, I mean I could, but maybe with 2x BLM. Anyway.. he comes into the drake room, with basically the whole big room in two. A combination of rampart + awareness + convelescence + healer being better than all three of those skills combined and a crap ton of AOE dodging, we survived, and the DRG hung back from that point on lol.

You can't be a tank if you have no tolerance for party mess to be honest.

Don't let em trigger you, with the rate at which we get queue pops, running into bad members is inevitable. Learning how to effectively use CDs is more of knowing an encounter and what attacks to expect, this will take time, and not something people can rush you into knowing. Some pulls you don't need to use one, because the mobs hit you for almost nothing. Then there are those encounters where mobs hit like trucks, then you need a CD. But in big pulls(talking > 5), you cycle through them all. Rampart > Convelescence, etc, maybe only need 1 CD depending on how fast they die.

Also moving slow: yeah that's due to not knowing whats ahead - that'll take time too.

Point: Group needs to know you want to be careful. Some gonna be jerks let them be a jerk. If they jerk-pull more than your CHARACTER can physically handle, yes a wipe is going to happen, but that ain't on you.

Err.. just realized you are a Paladin 70. Ok you already know all this stuff x_x

Happened last night got into Fractal HM on SAM cuz needing gear. Party Makeup was SAM DRK BLM WHM overall good DPS well sort of SAM has AOE issues but whatever. Run was good took less then 20 min as we’re leaving the BLM tells me that I need to work on my damage... they spent most of the run dead and I was doing 20-36k crits on almost every other use of my big hitting skills with around 6k on normal skills with them criting around 10-12k...... feelsbadman.

A smooth run is fun; but, sometimes, you need a major eff up to really kick in the adrenaline and remind yourself how exciting running a dungeon can be.

Had a WHM today in 50/60 that didn't know they had Medica 2..... that was fun.

My tank mentor convinced me that I was ready to tank some 24-man content, and offered to take his SCH into alliance roulette even though he also had yet to run 24-man as a healer, so total role reversal here. We queue, and get Dun Scaith. Talk about learning to swim in deep water.

If how the first rotation of mechanics is handled is an indication of how a run is going to go, nearly 1/3 of the alliance was blown off the ship on the first void Aero 3, including four from my own group. And yup. The run went as expected with tons of damage and deaths. It seemed senpai and I were the only ones actually staying out of the bad.

Despite the madness, we get to diabolos, and don't even get to phase 2. How the freak do we get past the Queen, but fail to push to phase 2 on diabolos?? Seriously, how does this happen? There's no incoming damage, just hit the freakin door!

So vote disband initiated and commenced. So after all that, no light for my DRK relic :(

I accidentally repelling shotted myself off the platform in O5S.

I thought I was beyond those days. D:

I remember when Neverreap came out. The first time in there the tank goes "I am pulling big, if your numbers are not good i am going to kick you, blah blah blah". He takes off the WHM in say chat "Just stay here" The tank dies and the WHM in party chat ask "So what did we learn from this lesson". The tank comes back and runs off again the WHM say the same as the first time and the tank dies. The he demands we boot him. I tell him I got time to kill but I am not going to kick you. Which the other 2 agreed on. He he tried to DC himself so we kick him, but he log back on and still be in party, and we welcome him back. He finally dropped party and we got a tank that had no problem taking it slow for new people.

People do realize that it's faster to just stand in the water pillars during Unbind instead of letting them turn into Blizzard III and burning them down, right? =_=

Your damage might still need work regardless of how big your crits are.

I queued Leveling Roulette as a Samurai. Got The Vault. My party is a PLD, WHM, and BLM. The WHM says "I'll be your mediocre healer for today" and the BLM says "I don't play this game. Me and the BLM finish off the mobs and wait for a bit. The PLD and BLM then leave and I follow suit, not seeing the point in waiting anymore. What a messy waste of a 20min queue...

I queued up again. Got The Vault again. Everyone but me watched the intro CS and the "New Adventurer" message popped up. The run was a little messy, but good enough to finish with only one death (the tank stood INSIDE one of the black holes in the second boss fight).
