Like I said, I'd love to have pictures, but I didn't take any during the situation. I understand if you don't really believe what I'm saying since I don't have any proof, but all I can say is that I'm not making anything up and that I'm not gaining anything worth lying about. Take it or leave it. If you aren't wanting to believe me (understandable) about my presentation of the situation, then it's best not to bother with the discussion going on too deeply though. SE should really implement a chat log feature of some sort really.

I don't plan on tanking anymore for anyone except friends, and don't plan on posting anymore on the forums about my experiences with people given the reactions though, so this won't be an issue anymore anyways. If I did for whatever reason change my mind, I'd get screenshots next time.

Once again regardless of whether s/he was being an a$$ or not is beside the point. When someone is or possibly is being hateful do you think you can make it all go away by just by being hateful in kind? Again two wrongs don't make a right. One or the other in that sort of situation has needs to defuse it or things can far worse. People want to act like if they show decency in the face of adversity then they show themselves to be weak. That is wrong. Why bother arguing in a game? What does it gain you or the person you're arguing with?

Do I believe what I am saying? Yes. Why? Because regardless of how many times I have faced with similar and much worse situations, talking through it before it got out of control led to happier endings more often than not. I won't say it works every time. Some people just don't want to be reasonable, at all, ever. But you have options via the game to make it easier on yourself so you don't have to suffer through it.

You don't have to believe me, like me or any other formulation thereof. But that's how it is. It doesn't always work and when it doesn't I either remove myself or the other half of the problem with the aid of party. I will not play at war in something I:

1. Use to unwind at the end of my gruelling work days. I have back and leg pain and would rather not have a headache to compound the problem.
2. Enjoy playing for the simple pleasure of it. I refuse to let stress affect my gameplay experience because it's just unnecessary.
3. Play with others on. When playing MMOs you get all kinds. If you are not prepared for a few road apples making your journey of gaming happiness with family/friends then I am afraid you are in for a long ride.

All it takes is WILLINGNESS. A willingness to communicate at the beginning and failing that the moment a problem starts to show itself. A willingness to swallow enough pride to do the right thing for everyone involved. It is easy to blow up. It is hard to recover from that. And also a willingness to just drop it. As in leave when you cannot get a volatile situation to calm down or kick the person still causing the problem. I'd rather have 30 minutes to chat with friends than 30 minutes to an hour of hatefulness, wouldn't you agree?

This thread feels like :

"Hey im the tank, you know what that means? im the fucking leader and i can do whatever i want, this is my dungeon, if you dont like my job then leave.

I´ve news for you, without DPS/Heals you cant even kill a single mob without spending 2 hours on it.

Tanks nowadays just rush everything without even say a single word and when they die after pulling 90% of the dungeon they complain and inmediatly insult the healer and the rest of the party.

Don't do assumptions like this please. It doesn't serve the tank community as a whole. Some do play like this, true. But they remain a minority. Some, on the other hand, always ask, always compliment their mates for their good jobs, chat, among other pleasant things.

It's true also, the number of "rude" players has been increasing (imo), and we see plenty of those threads around here (about bad tanks, bad healers, bad dps), but that's only because they were "bad". If we were to create a thread for every damn great tank/healer/dps we met and deserved praises, the number of threads would be x100.

Don't make a generality out of a few.

You haven't read much then, because if you had, it would be clear that I did the opposite of that. Does me asking him to AoE to get his full clear and being willing to do one even after he ordered me to not skip anything sound like I'm saying "I'm the leader, this is my dungeon" etc to you? To me, his aggressive response, threats, and abuse of roles sound like he's saying he's the leader and it's his dungeon....I was willing to do what he wanted if treated like a human being or if he was willing to give us at least 10% of what we wanted, but we weren't worth it to him apparently.

The DPS this time was the one who tried to force everyone to do what he wanted by using griefing tactics at that. I've stated so many times now that I do clears if asked nicely, that I do clears if outvoted. So please, re-read if you're getting the idea that I don't.

I don't understand how me being willing to clear and asking him to AoE to get his clear is so bad....and why it's okay that he run ahead and pull mobs, and tell the healer to stop doing their job of healing if he gets anything less than 100% of what he wants. Are my values really that backwards? Some people really want to assault tanks who do not immediately jump as high as demanded to. It's almost as if we're expected to give up our rights completely, any less and we're "jerks".

I had dropped it actually. The thread was a few pages back, someone revived it, then the personal attacks started again. I didn't even post on the thread again until I wanted to commend someone for posting an accurate summary of what happened along with a coolheaded response. I'd hope that no one gets banned over anything said here, especially the people who aren't being hostile. I don't like the personal attacks, but I am not a fan of censorship either. I am not upset enough to want people to be banned for anything said to me, and I haven't attacked anyone personally myself anyways, so yeah....no need for bans or censorship here. If anything, a thread locking would be most in order.

Edit: Also not sure if you saw the thing you quoted as aggression. I'll say now it wasn't intended to be, I meant it to just be a lighthearted expression. I had hoped the smiley and my wording choice would convey that message, lol. And yeah, I'm surprised people aren't bored yet either.

I've already given them their solution too (retiring from tanking). For the people who think I'm terrible in general, you'd think that would satisfy them and make them move on :\

I won't deny that I've mentioned a lot that people should read though! When you have to repeat things over and over, can you blame me though? When people repeat the same arguments that ignore things I've said, of course I'm going to repeat that people should read.

There is plenty of evidence on the forums that people don't like to read too, not just on my thread :P. You even admitted yourself in a previous that you didn't bother reading some things I've said. Said after I removed half the text from the OP and moved it to another post. If you don't notice a change this major on the OP, which is the first and most important post on a topic and aren't willing to keep up with it being changed every so often, then I don't know what to say. There you have it folks. It is willful ignorance at work.

Add on to that the fact that I have posted throughout the thread, not just on my OP, that I gave the dps a chance to get what he wanted and always do clears if asked nicely or if outvoted, and yet still am being called a dictatorlike jerk frequently, and you've got an even more obvious case of "tl;dr syndrome" plaguing the thread.

Don't get me wrong though, it's every bit your right to ignore things said. If you choose to ignore things said though and post anyways, don't fuss when people call you out on it when it's clear you haven't read or are cherry picking.

If you take OP at face value this is exactly what she did.

Pulled to first possible point where she could have stopped and pulled extras. Stopped to talk. Asked DPS to use AoEs if he was going to do massive pulls.

Got nothing in return.

At what point did OP do anything hateful? Not responding immediately isn't hateful. Nor is 'Hey, could you use AoE if we're doing a full clear with large pulls'.

This is why I'm asking you if you believe what you're saying. Because what you're saying is just making random things up to attempt to be 'neutral' and putting a ridiculous onus on players to respond to any degree of toxicity with, not just politeness, but immediate politeness or be accused of being equally toxic/equally at fault.

One less tank that'll be queuing for DF with randoms.

And people wonder why people don't tank

While the story and post edits are ever changing, at least there has been one constant throughout this thread..

It's quite funny the relationship between tanks(maybe healers) and DPS

It seems like their negativity feeds off of each other in a perpetual cycle.

An enthusiastic new tank ends up becoming jaded due to how they're treated, which then makes them resent some DPS. Tanks being important then gives them a big ego. So some of them act like jerks to the DPS, which then makes the DPS angry since they had to wait a long time to queue up to that dungeon. (While the poor healer gotta deal with that mess)

Thus the cycle continues.
