Crafters have no right to get their own Chocobos

Yes, it would have! It would mean the creation of an entirely new system, just for about 1% of the population of the game.

I can honestly say it would not affect me in the least. The issue is, your statement is based on what this game was founded when it was released: "If you want, you can simply level Leatherworker and experience everything the game has to offer" which is no longer the case. New players will not see DoL/DoH classes as an option to experience everything the game has to offer and that includes Personal Chocobos.

Nobody is disagreeing that GC issue chocobos are not the same as rentals; they are clearly better. The point that rentals exist simply make your argument that chocobos are universal content moot.

It is not about allowing DoL/H to obtain personal issue chocobos effecting battle classes. It is about SE clearly wanting players to level battle classes in order to fully experience the game.

And yet everyone does not want to level a battle class. Do they think that excluding players from an already small player base is going to help this game succeed? I understand not catering equally to DoH/L, because it waters down the content, as we can see with the main story line quests. However, there is no content to water down here. There is no reason why an alternative method could not have been implemented— 12000 (or more even) guild marks and a prerequisite of finishing the level 36 class quest. Seems pretty simple to me, and that’s without much thought put into it. I’m sure a game developer could figure something out fairly easily.

Only allowing us to rent a mount, which must be accessed in town and then disappears once you get off of it, is ridiculous. I do not care if my chocobo can fight or whatever, I just want a regular mount, that I can access when I need it. You know, like every other modern MMO offers its players? I can understand rentals for lower level classes, but many of us have put just as much effort (if not more) into leveling our classes than some of those who play battle classes, and yet we are being excluding.

No, it's not, because you can have other people attach materia to your items, yet I cannot have other players give me a personal chocobo now can I?

Excluding all 10 players that fall into that category will not impact the playerbase. It is a window into what is to come. They are basically"if you do not want to rank battle classes, you may find yourself excluded from some content." saying

I know the feeling.
Often times it's not even about the topic. People just want to argue until they turn out right.

You're not being excluded from anything. You get the same reward for the same work as everyone else. The Chocobos aren't being handed out as a prize to those who have worked hard... they are for a purpose.

I'd like to say something else too, in relation to the concept that some folks only craft and don't have any battle classes worked up: when the Garleans are marching up to the gate, we're not going to need people to mend trousers. We'll need people to fight. So pick up a goddamn weapon and learn to use it.

I will make one last analogy before I give up and let this thread die (if that's even possible):

Food and Shelter are two fundamentals to life here on Planet Earth, yet I have to work at a job (and do things I don't want to do) to earn a paycheck so that I can buy food and pay for shelter. Unless I want to live in a Homeless Shelter (again), which I do not want to, I need to work for everything I need and for everything I want.

Nothing is handed to me in life and I don't expect it to be. Life is a challenge and it needs to be in order to be worth living.

Nothing should be handed to me in a game either. I expect challenge and even being forced to do things I'ld rather not do. I don't want to kill Ifrit but I will if he drops epic gears and/or I have to fight him to proceed in the Mission Storyline.
I don't want to level Carpenter but I will if that is the only way I can get an Epic Materia Encrusted BowHarp (for my Barcher) ;>P or if there was some epic cutscene that you only get if you lvl a DoH/L to r50 then I will either live without that CS or I will rank a craft to cap so I can experience everything.

Bottom line is we all gotta do what we gotta do to get the things we want in life and in our games.

FFXIV needs to be challenging in order to be worth playing.

Where you get the 1% from? From my eye, I saw a lot of people crafting on the street and guild.
