You and I have a different opinion on what counts as selfish in an MMO. For me, not making the effort to learn/clear content when you DF/PF with 7 other random people and going in saying 'I'm not watching videos and don't tell me the mechanics' is selfish and amounts to 'I'm getting my way and I don't care about you'.
Those of you complaining about spoilers for things like Savage and Ex primals make me laugh.
YOUVE ALREADY SEEN THE DAMN FIGHT.
It's mechanics changes you need to check up on.
I did it in duty finder last month so yeah. Had all that and more. But last party I found when we cleared it was so good that they adjusted to any situation(marks) and we did it at first try with no echo.
Took 100+ tries for us before we managed to get a decent group with experience. I know the whole fight script(all titan skills by order) with my eyes closed thanks to that.
PLD is the best defensive tank. The guy in Aria's group was most likely mentioning the PLDs low dps and while it is true it also shows a significant design flaw within the game on how dps is highly regarded over anything else. This is what happens when dungeon/raid content is poorly constructed.
And sadly if you try to say something like this to anyone of them in the game, you're just going to be blamed instead. Why? Because "you suck". Or insert some "Git gud" jokes here, whatever.
I wish I could do more content such as Savage Alex, I really would love to do more trials or anything with others but:
1) I don't trust FC anymore: my last one disbanded, people were kicked, leader sold the FC house to someone we didn't even know and a friend from inside told me that she lost about 6m gil in decorating (she was one of the high in command). I'm glad that being on my own paid off eventually: I lost nothing and it was like nothing happened. It was as if I never entered, because I had a hunch that this was going to happen anyway. And we were going to refill our ranks for raid hahaha....ha...
2) I did the EX primals once and I'll most likely never do them again: I hated Bismarck with a passion while Ravana was actually fun and all that, I didn't manage to fully learn him to its full potential: this means that I'm never going to learn it again because people aren't patient enough to let me make mistakes and since I already done it once, why would I have to suffer through again? (If it's a learning group however, I might join in and help too: both me and the team will benefit in this case)
3) I raided FCOB before HW and it was one of the worst gaming periods of my life, mainly because there was no connection within our group: we weren't 8 friends playing together we were like 8 random people playing because we had to. I NEVER played with these people outside of raid. I don't EVEN remember their names. Suffice to say, when they disbanded the static I felt nothing from it: there was simply no connection and mistakes were punished heavily (our leader constantly had to replace people, for a reason and another)
And by the way, I was with a couple of other statics before: it was the same. The real difference was that I couldn't raid with them because I didn't clear t9. And of course nobody would help me: I had to ask help outside of the static.
I can probably tell more fun scenes that I had during my time with the "endgame community", but I just had such a big chore that I seriously don't want to bother anymore: a lot of them are, like many say, elitistic and poisonous people and nobody is willing to lend a hand, sometimes even within the FC itself! I'm glad that some people are having a lot of fun with their endgame, I wish I had the same luck as them, but I'm going to stick with my roulettes and with the new raid that they're planning.
If I get to help, I do my job and lend my hand without being involved into anything else and that's my limit from now on..
Uhh..... Final Fantasy 14 has such a tame community (compared to other games). I cannot stress that enough! Some of the kindest people I have ever met are on this game! I have literally spent 5+hours straight just chatting to people on here!
And the meanest I have met on this game? Doesn't even compare to the people I have met on RuneScape, Minecraft, WoW, CoD, etc.
Maybe MMOs aren't for you. :/
...Or maybe you have a knack for riling people up in this game... ...Just a possibility....
