tl;dr YP was about to talk about how many swimsuits there would be total at the 2017 Moonfire Faire if they made a job-specific swimsuit for each job, but then he teased by saying "oops, I can't say", because if he did, then we would know how many new jobs there will be for 4.0.

EDIT: And seeing as he's talking about the 2017 MF Faire, it's kinda pointless because a) we'll know in two weeks which jobs are coming and b) MF Faire isn't until August, so it would be after Stormblood's release.

Oh, and one other thing about what YP says about the Samurai comment in the Developer's room. He says that in Japanese, if you read the dialogue from top to bottom and right to left (traditional Japanese style), it spells out "itsumo arigatou". So the reason they chose the words they used was to spell out "itsumo arigatou", not as hints.

That's weird... because saying how many role specific swimsuits wouldn't hint at how many new jobs we're getting unless their adding a new role. DPS, Tank and Healer, the only 4th role you could fit into that is Support. Or if we look at it from Melee, Ranged Physical, Ranged Magical, Tank and Healer. Is RDM gonna to create a new role? Like Hybrid... but I'm 100% sure it's Ranged Magical. I'm not doubting your translation but this seems a little odd.

Unfortunately I think far too many people rely on Google Translate to translate these articles. I ran the blog through GT and I can definitely see how someone might misinterpret what was said based on what GT says. And frankly, it's hard for the translation community to keep up since these things do spiral out of control. I mean, as for myself, every time I saw a link for the supposed source article, it linked to something completely different... so in this case it was likely just a problem with bad sourcing.

You are aware that there are thousands and millions of reposts of information on the internet that are worthless because they summarize the content inaccurately, aren't you? Especially when it comes to translations.

As the poster above me says, a first hand source is always more credible than a second hand source. You have a first hand source stating what YP actually says. If anything else from a second hand source contradicts that source, then the second hand source is wrong. Period.

All the sources I posted are not second hand information, they're all various news outlets and blogs that reported on the event, Kaedan is arguing that only the Famitsu article counts because it listed it's information in the form of a quote instead of simply reporting on it, whereas I've posted a variety of sources including ones featuring commentary/reactions from watchers of the event during it. When I don't have access to the direct source itself, then yes, I will trust a source that offers what it claims to be direct quotes of YP over summary blurbs. Especially when that source is an official, professional organization over random bloggers. And yes, they are random bloggers that you have listed. Not a single one of the links you provided except for Famitsu (which is the one that claims to actually quote YP rather than summarize) is a professional news reporter.

But hey, I'm more than willing to provide you an accurate translation of what YP actually says if you want to give me access to the video somehow. Until such time, I'm going to accept that the professional organization is actually quoting YP when they claim to be actually quoting YP. Well, since Kaeden has been kind enough to clarify the mis-translations, particularly in regard to the Moonfire Faire comments, I'll have to change my position.

The job to be announced at the EU Fanfest will be Samurai, because now I don't see them adding a third class, and I just do not see them -NOT- adding Samurai in Stormblood given all the information we've obtained. Bit of a pity given Spiderman is the most obvious reference to Blue Mage ever, but what else can you do? I just cannot see SE -not- adding Samurai in Stormblood. I would be shocked if they didn't.

I'm just happy we have a translation that specifically says (I think hahaha) that Yoshida does not think making Blue Mage Solo ONLY is a good idea. Just that he finds solo/ability learning experience important/interesting to maintain.

Some very passionate feelings here, for a while I was scared too like I dont mind if Blue is still off in the distance but it would really bother me (in a gaming first world sort of way lol) if blue mage was turned into a not a real job scenario. So I'm back to happy.

Anyways, I'll bring the butter :)

On a side note, do we know for sure if the upcoming event will reveal all the jobs? (Job?) I used to be on top of information but since I've come back I'm playing catch up on everything possible lol.. its.. just great.. xD.

For the most part. All details are revealed at the fanfest, at least Heavensward (I think?) And they just delve deeper into the content that has been announced during game conventions to give us more information like how the new jobs play and such.

If the we don't have some nice new spells at 70, I think I may try and main a DPS to spice it up.

I'm already preparing to be disappointed. One new job I'm interested in, no new race. Probably a big fat zero in additions to current race customization options.

Quick question: was Heavensward having 3 new jobs known since the first fanfest or was there uncertainty about the number of new jobs? Did they drop any hints towards AST at all?

All the raid awareness I have while playing a healer instantly becomes tunnel vision when I switch to a DPS class. Gonna have to work that out if I want to try Red Mage.

There was no prior AST hints.

No shirt at least. There was some -really- vague speculation about it as a result of the 007 shirt though, someone about a Bond Villain in one of the movies having played with Tarot cards.

Good question. I remember speculating about the 007 shirt with a friend but we never saw a third job coming. You could say that the 3rd was a surprise. However, this time I really get the feeling we are only getting 2.

Basically, it boils down in a weird way. If the "1 of 2 jobs tweet" is the truth, then that is kinda sly on their part because they want the preorders and expectations to be built on the basis that there could be 3 jobs and then reveal that it is indeed only going to be 2.

I can live with only 2 jobs as long as they are juicy additions like RDM and SAM at the same time. If for some reason we only get 2 and the second one is Dancer, I am going to be really disappointed even if I don't intend to main any of the new jobs.

Higher Budget. No new Race. 2 New Classes expected.

My hopes are for greater server stability, more customization options for existing races, and two very unique and well designed classes, rather than clones of existing classes like MCH feels, or other classes slapped together like AST feels.

Just to add tho, the tweet about 1 of 2 classes was quickly deleted. Now if that means because they were not suppose to say that or because it is not true, we can't really say.

it could be our fault maybe even the jp community agreed(dont know how they felt about drk and ast) but ill have to agree if they do only do 2 jobs that theyre new and refreshing, Probably DPS, to play it safe. The only reason i have to even think a tank would come is this magical retooling of parry thats gonna be "so good"(I'm exaggerating) Not sure how many felt or agreed but im guilty of saying not to bring a new tank or healer in if its not super thought up, like last time.


as far as the 2 jobs thing I sont know where i got the idea but I thought it was stated a while back or something that I just went through HW expecting to be true, admittedly getting a third job would be nice, nut not if they slapped a drg and gave it greased lightning,,,and called it Spiderman

One point to consider is that Yoshi claims that we've only seen half of the reveals till now and that this upcoming fanfest will reveal tons of stuff. Even if we get no new race and only 2 jobs, it does not mean that the triple budget won't go somewhere where it is worth.

As for getting a healer job, I too believe that adding only dps jobs is not a very nice move. It could be justified if they make really interesting changes to the existing tank/healer ones to make up for not adding a whole new job.

I also play heals in endgame. No healer announce =PING PING PING on dungeons so that seems pretty nice to me.

14 days to go folks... we can make it.

I still keep up the hope that we will get at least three new jobs. I mean we wont get any new race either so imo it would feel kinda bad if we also only get two jobs. I love quests and yet I know that after you did them once you wont do them again (only if you level an alt) so having new jobs is imo often the thing that will keep people playing longer and gives the most new feeling and diversity. (This is all just my opinion)

I dont care what jobs we will get but I really hope that its more than two.
