When the term filters were announced, you had a sizable number of people /cheering the fact that they could block "LGBT" from chat not because it was a great catch-all for blocking venues (and I say that as a bi guy who absolutely wanted to filter venues from shout in the most effective way possible and added LGBT myself), but because they felt empowered by being able to remove "them" from the game in even the smallest way, and expressed "hope" that it was a sign of things to come that Final Fantasy 14 was becoming "anti-woke".
Of course, they all immediately turned into frothing masses when the next gender unlocked shop outfit was announced (the prince and princess ones I think?), but still, there *is* an undercurrent of bigotry in the game's overall community even if they're quiet about it in-game, and they'll just use other means to express it like the forums for example.
