thats true, if its the portable PS3 why not just make games on the PS3 they cost more.

fk it, let's just port FF14 on the wii/u, xbox1/360/whatever, psp/vita, 3/ds, gamecube, ps1/2, iphone, android, SNES, genesis, NES, amiga, let's just put it on EVERYTHING!
There, happy?
I don't know what you're getting at, especially since you made it clear to us that it makes no sense to you. Perhaps you shouldn't make bias assumptions against the valid points I made in the earlier post. It would make your argument somewhat more valid and less exaggerated.
I'll provide answers in parts.
Yoshi-P said it is possible on the Vita at gamescom, however more people need to own a Vita to make a port worthwhile.
PSO 2 has over 750k subs. Vita Beta has just began. Will it sell poorly? I cant comment on doubts.
The touch screen functionality demoed in that youtube video proves that MMOs on it can work.
The point of my post was in response to mikecoby's comment about mmos not working on handhelds. I didn't say anything about FFXIV. Perhaps you should have taken that into consideration.
People forgetting that the PS Vita has more ram than the PS3.
I will be buying a copy of FFX HD ^_^ been waiting for it cant wait!
There are a lot of good ideas here. I would like to see an app where we could check AH, Chocobos, a Free Company/Linkshell messenger and depending on the housing maybe a house manager ^_^.
Those ideas for an app do certainly sound feasible but it would only be for when you are outside the reach of your computer since you can't be logged in two places at the same time. So I don't imagine many people sticking with it, and thus it may be a waste of resources for SE.
Don't do a raid if you know you have only limited time. Craft something or level your gatherer a bit. There are enough content you can do in 15 or 20 minutes.
It has a touchscreen keyboardQuote:
And at home you have your home console or PC to run it.
FFXIV isnt a game to play it "on the hop" while in subway or bus.. on a bench in a park or where the heck ever... no keyboard functionality, no teamspeak connections.
There is much more to the game than dungeon raids... crafting, gathering, quests, missions, exploration, farming, house and retainer management, etc, etc.Quote:
i cant see for what do we need a vita version? you want to play 30 minutes while in a bus or what? find a group.. do a raid.. its just not possible.. there is no pause button like for offline games..
Also, some people travel around quite a bit and don't want to lug a heavy system around with them.
yes a touchscreen keyboard.. and when you want to chat.. you cant see anything of the game anymore while typing. good thing, good thing.
as i said before. a vita version is so senseless.. its just a gimmick "see there, i can craft on my armor while in subway". just an addition.. i doubt people would buy that a lot. 5% of all subscribers maybe..
wii u version instead would make much much more sense. but i said that thousand of times before in here already.
You do know that a touchscreen keyboard can easily be semi-transparent, right?
You're grasping at straws, my friend.
You're talking like they're alternatives. Only they aren't.Quote:

Lots of nay-sayers nitpicking on the technical side of this when Yoshi-P has already said it's possible to run it on the Vita.
If he says it's possible, then he's looked into it and knows it can be done. If anyone doesn't think it can be done, than I suggest they do some more research on the PSVita and find out why they are wrong.
Can it be profitable? Eh..
I still think it would be in Sony's best interest to help fund a port. It only helps out the PSVita in the long term.
Can it technically be done? I have no doubt.
Will it be a good investment? esp. on Vita? ehh.....
Is it a good form factor for the genre? Not in the least in my opinion. I like my Vita, but as nice as that screen is, it's too damned small to convey the amount of information needed at a readable size. Maybe you all have no issue with playing a game with size 6 font, but I'll hold off on killing my eyes for awhile longer.
Sega is putting PSO2 on Vita, but PSO was always more of a dungeon crawler. So I am guessing it would be possible for SE to put 14 on Vita, but then Vita is so unpopular its probably not worth it for them.
Your absolutely right. However there is still a memory limitation to the amount of characters that can be visible on the screen at one time. PS3 can handle this fine, however the Vita may not because it's memory limitations are even more extreme. Plus your limiting the bandwidth pipeline to wireless ONLY. That could be troublesome if you happen to be in a unreliable wireless network. Which are notorious for high latency and disconnects on MMO's.
I like your idea, and your right there is no reason why it wouldn't work. However I'm not sure the potential audience on the Vita since it is still fairly new is worth the investment and trouble for Square Enix. I assure you they will be very cautious after FFXIV launch flop on any other risky development adventures!
It would be better if they developed for the PS4.
However Yoshida, had hinted in the past about potential mobile solutions. Like LS chat, Auction House management, Character transfer/changes, etc... couldn't think of anymore possibilities.
If they want Vita to pick up in sales, I would think applying FF14 ARR to its list of titles would make it dominate any other handheld out there today. It would also bring in more money to SE for FF14 sales, honestly the more platforms SE can bring FF14 to, the more money they would be swimming in. There's hardly any great mmorpgs out there today on consoles to begin with.
this isn't true at all the PS3 is swimming in many RPG series, the 360 trailing in second, with the wii being in last. now RPG's on the portables is vastly different the DS and 3DS have the lead here, while the Vita is pretty much all shit ports of shooters...or sports, its RPG's come from PS1 Classics and a hand full of Sony chosen PSP titles.
Ah, been awhile since I looked at Vita specs, and I don't own one. Thanks for the info. Regardless, I was thinking about it and I suppose they would just apply more aggressive Level of Detail models to the game to handle the increase of players and mitigate the memory limitations.
With windows 8 touch screen ideas and demos being tossed around by Yoshi I think the vita would be perfect. The vita can also handle streaming the game off your ps3 if it had too, i just see this as an awesome idea.
The screen of the vita is a bit small to easily press the buttons on the screen... I think the vita should be more of a controller rather than a player in itself... plus there was an interview before where yoshida did say he has no plans on the vita release...
well i found this in youtube :P
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSvz7LUIxmA
Yoshi-P said it was definitely possible to port the game to the Vita, but he said there would have to be more Vita users in order to make the port worth the investment.
So it can be done, it's just a matter of economics.
As Microsoft is contributing to developing the touchscreen functionality for Windows 8 (for cross-promotional purposes), Sony could also invest in supporting a PSVita port for the same reasons.
Perhaps this is what is happening~
They are just using remote desktop to play off the computer which with homebrew I believe you could steam the ps3 release right onto the vita and just play the ps3 version.
I could see myself playing the ps3 version steamed but unless the pc version was optimized it would be too buggy i think to use remote desk top.
I have a vita o.o/ and a PS3 and a bad ass thousand dolalr desktop o.o/ I want FFXIV on all of them >.>/ oh and god eater 2 needs to hurry up and come out in US for the Vita reason why I bought the damned thing and PSO2
It's really possible to be on the Vita and Wii-U. Sadly, Microsoft denied it for Xbox Live because they do not want cross-platform servers. DCUO agreed.
I know Microsoft denied and said they did not want cross platform servers, but any idea why?
Was it security issues? Or the simple fact of their competitors being on the same servers?
If it was the latter I think that is a bunch of crap. :P
They are probably thinking that they would not get the maximum potiential of sales because some sales would be lost due to ppl chosing Sony over Microsoft.
Xbox Live is an entirely closed and locked system, completely under control of Microsoft. It's policies deny any possible cross server gameplay with other networks and any gameplay that isn't directly controlled and policied by Microsoft itself.
Final Fantasy XI is an exception because it was released before the current policies were created.
XI opened up a loop whole in the whole Xbox subscriber model, you don't need gold for online play, in short they don't want developers to take advantage of this. so all online traffic must come from gold subscribers, you can see where this is going to be an issue for subscription based games.
here's something interesting about the con art at Microsoft, did you know your paying Microsoft to use your bandwidth to host there ads. in any other circumstance MS would be paying you for generating there multimillion dollar ad traffic.
True Fantasy Live Online... Oh how I not forget about it?
All respect to angry Level-5.
