Many people here just need to stop playing the game. If you are already dooming at some cryptic yoshi speech about 8.0, that they probably haven't even worked on yet and is still over year away, you might need a break.
That is incredibly, horribly dissapointing.
Job design is actually so boring atm, it needs a huge shakeup...
How did OP somehow get the exact opposite of what Yoshi P. was saying?
So I would take this to mean the jobs will be changed so each one is more unique, some receiving more major overhauls than others. But the core of the battle gameplay or "system that we have in the game", will remain the same.Quote:
"Within the MSQ, we can't always provide a unique expression for the jobs in every patch," Yoshida says. But "when it comes to using the jobs in battle content and bringing out more of that uniqueness of each job, we are working on a big update." Before Dawntrail even launched, Yoshi-P had teased that he wanted to counteract 'class homogenization' in an overhaul that was planned for 8.0.
As for what that will look like, he explains that "People might think of it as an expansion of the system that we have in the game. So the players who already like the way things are can feel at ease that nothing is going to change for their experience. But we are trying to do something new on top of what we already have."
They will never leave their comfort zone, too many years trying to make the game feel accessible and easy to new players when it was at its peak. Now that ffxiv hit that peak that will never return again, and when they should just try to keep existing players playing because the game can't grow more than this, they have no idea what to do. What? You don't like the same boring content and job design? How dare you! Honestly they will try to "change" something to change nothing, they will simply celebrate every minimal and insignificant change with the new expansion as they always do while keeping the game still the same, hoping for the best.
Anybody wanna bet they will also introduce some long overdue ‘changes’ like unrestricted glamour system at the same time as part of the future damage control? Lmao.
You can probably bet a lot people would suddenly just ignore all his lies then go clap at these devs decisions if that happens.
Of course, and after this "revolutionary change" when people will see that nothing changed yet again, we'll be still here talking about the same issues. They need to hype a bit those ungrateful players in order to sell that sweet expansion with some smoke bomb or two. Glad if they will really do something different to shake things up, but after all these years I highly doubt it. IMHO of course.
Translation: "We're fixing tanks having too much healing by giving tanks more healing."
Where are the developers getting these ideas from? Why isn't our feedback reaching them? What's with the questionable job changes over the years? Is our feedback lost in translation?
I endured three expansions of this shit show. No jobs getting major rework, no 8.0 for me.
this post consists of
70% being realist saying this game is doom
25% snorting copium
5% actually liking idea they not doing any different funny how yoshi p ignores 95% of community only for handful of 5%
So true, I mean of course the game will not die soon or in the near future. Still less players playing means even smaller budget, why investing in a game that already reached its peak moment and now struggle to keep those players engaged? Business side Square will just let this game reach slowly its end year after year while milking players while it lasts.
You are arguing that it is subjective opinion that defines the term. But the range of subjective opinions for a term is theoretically infinite. So thats why I just skipped the idea of relative value. And interesting debate honestly. However I can tell you in advance I do not agree.
Just as with the example of cost btw. Funny you mention it.
Also Yoshi P does call this a "big update". Maybe read the article.
It sounds bad from just that sentence, but I'd like more information before jumping to conclusions.
Edit: This is just a machine translation, but he apparently said this in the same interview: ''We will continue to place emphasis on both the individuality of each job and the ability of the player character to bring out the best in the game''.
Final Fantasy XIV has way too many words in it for the average player to have this poor of reading comprehension.
Are there people left who still thinks anything will change in 8.0?
It will follow the same script as all the other expansions: they'll upgrade 2 skills, maybe a trait, shave off some more timers and DoTs, add a finisher and *one* new piece of content that will be promptly abandoned afterwards.
If you mean the 'average' player the ones in the west ...
A U.S. Reading Literacy statistic was pulled up when explained about the mod situation recently and why it was very simply worded.
Not really surprising, honestly. Kinda naive to think they’d rebuild the whole class system from scratch, that’d be a disaster.
Remember the drama over the character graphics update? Imagine that, but with the entire class system.
They just don’t have the guts or skill for something that huge.
So yeah, forget about talent trees or whatever, we’ll probably just get like one extra skill at lvl 110 xD
Despair. I just want game to be fun again and that isn't possible with the current job design.
My man I think you're missing the point of the problem in all of this. People are or have been quitting. From SE's own mouth they are down about 50% in player accounts. Real damage has been done, and it seems like they are still bleeding players. With that in mind one would think they would be doing whatever they can to get players back, and also being really careful with their words. The problem is that we have been consistently seeing blatant negligence.
This is a service based MMO. It needs players to survive and function. "Leave the game" or "Go play other games" was never going to work in the long run, and you better believe it isn't working for the shareholders at SE.
I believe I'm crying when there are speculations that they'll work on some sort of spec/extra actions that are assignable for each jobs or roles.
Omg that sounds like PJs..! Or old cross class without leveling requirement maybe...! Except if they do any, they'll be disabled in EX/Savage/Ulti+ because "BaLaNcE rEaSoNs"(translation: cannot be a$$ed to put more effort in it).
Man oh man... that was a good laugh...!

Yum yum delicious ragebait
One thing I understand from Yoshi's words: that the game is going to become WoW. The reason: is the damage that was done with Endwalker and that it became a "Wow killer" as some said. So by degrading the game like Blizz has done in recent years, then expect the same thing to happen to FF.It's no coincidence that Blizz put an NPC to run dung, something that's been around for a long time in FF, it's no coincidence that it put housing, something that's already been around in FF. What I want to conclude: that Blizz in jobs/classes back in time had the complexity in rotation gcd etc and now you press 3-4 buttons and you deal dmg. That's what they want to do in FF.All this is happening because, quite simply, the young people, the youth want to play something simple and easy and of course they are the ones who will push money into game production companies. If you search the internet, you will see that people still play lineage2, metin2, mu, etc. because you simply press buttons without any rotation for dmg. That's from me.
Is the feedback in the room with us right now? Is it in this thread speculating about a vague sentence for content in 1+ years?
Can hardly blame the devs to not check the """feedback""" in this forum, when 60% is just trolling and ragebait, 35% is the same screeching/crying doom posting by people who don't even play (someone just linked the AI doomslop channel), and maybe 5% actual feedback gets buried under all of that.
Ppl need to stop taking interviews on non-japanese medias at face value.
We don't have Japanese raw script for this interview but every time we have these post in both language theres so many nuance missed in translation.
How about a freaking PTS so we can actually try and give a feedback on said changes ?
The whole thing seems important enough to be tested by us, the players so we can actually feel listened to.
I specifically said you should take a Break, if you are dooming over something that is happening in over a year from now.
You will never be happy with anything SE does if you go at it with a "This is gonna suck" attitude.
Even this Interview I really liked. I'm really interested in the "People might think of it as an expansion of the system that we have in the game." and what that means for the 8.0 jobs.
The first time was in Warlords of Draenor. I forget what they were called, but it was a series of passives you unlocked in a random order(via a roulette) that were originally exclusive to WoD content. Shadowlands was the second case, where they attempted to lock everything related to the covenants(class ability, covenant ability, soulbind passives and actives) to SL content, and it was at a point in development where all of those were much stronger than they were by the time 9.0 actually went live.
wow lets talk about wow change of subject.
ppl its final fantasy not wow. at this rate squire enix is better remaking 11 then continueing with 14
Just be realistic. 14 isnt turning into a different game ever. There will surely be changes. Small changes that might add up. Although you cant rework 21 jobs and make them all feel unique in such a short time. They manage 2 or 3 job reworks per expansion. 14 will play like 14 plays now. It will play like that in 8.x 9.x and 10.x. The direction they are headed is clear now with all the job changes we got throughout 7.x so far. Does anyone think blm gets timers back? TCJ locking you in place again? Hell no. Fight design becomes more and more hectic. You dont want jobs that struggle with that believe me. The sentence "If you like it now, you will like 8.x" says a lot without saying a lot. I will enjoy 8.x bdcause i enjoy 7.x. That is all i needed to hear. The plans they have for jobs are just speculation now. 2min meta will stay though. They took 6 years to make jobs fit into it. They wont revert that, unless you give them 6 years to fit the jobs into the new meta. If the jobs feel a bit more unique in 8.x then thats just a bonus imo.
