You'll prob have to wait a month for subs to not renew if anything.

You know, publicly advertising the use of Mare using official FFXIV tags on social media, plastering it all over your adventurer plates and PF, talking about it in game in say and shout chat as well as creating linkshells for it, etc. were probably pretty big contributing factors to it being taken down. Surely coming to the forums and essentially telling on yourself by complaining about it being taken down won't have any negative repercussions, right?
Y'all really have zero thoughts in your head, huh? My guess is brainrot from all the goonslop, but by all means, please carry on.
I see that you’re reading this thread. An illegal third-party tool named Dalamud is being used to disseminate Account IDs and have them accessible by other illegal third-party tools. Where can I report this security vulnerability? If you’re already aware of the issue, can you escalate this with your manager via one of the many pre-existing support tickets?
Modders forgot the First Rule of Mod Club.
Fly too close the sun, overreach what's allowed, get vocal & public about it, and here we are.
Seriously.
It's like seeing the meme about the man using a stick on his own bike wheel and complaining about falling.
If the Mare users had been able to be discreet about using it instead of making its publicity on every forum and even in-game - and so respect the "if you don't talk about it, we won't do anything about it" rule that has always been the rule with mods in FFXIV, maybe it would never have happened.
And also maybe if they weren't using assets & music from other games / media that would ultimately force SE to act to prevent a legal issue from other companies against them but that is another discussion.
You have it all wrong, op. Now that people I've never met and never went out of my way to see can't goon, plap, or bust a thick nut, this game is automatically salvaged. Every word out of wuk lamat's immaculately voiced mouth is like nectar from the gods, crafted by the finest penmanship. Imagine the gif of the man writing literal fire. That's what Dawntrail writing is, now that strangers i had to go out of my way to be affected by are no longer able to goon. Praise be to yevon. Our content used to feel one and done, and a lot of it felt overtuned or notoriously gated behind joining some guy's discord server, but now that some catboy somewhere can't visually depict himself bouncing on a horse dong, the content is perfect. It's accessible, with multiple difficulties to appease all types. It's rewarding and fun and can't be griefed by one guy determined to waste everyone's time. The jobs, which, prior to gooner 9/11 (8/21, a day that will live in the opposite of infamy), all felt like clones of each other, now feel unique. There's genuine synergy involved and I feel good playing even the simple content because the job gameplay is just that engaging.
In short, now that gooners are temporarily inconvenienced, it's safe to walk the streets and the game is saved. No content? What do you mean? Have you collected every piece of trash in limsa? Have you painted with the colors of the wind? There's so much to do. That's why this game gains players over time, obviously.
The event ship is a literal ghost town on Balmung now, which is impressive, as before there were so many people there it was dropping by FPS to almost 30.
Other than that, and constant complaints in shout, not much has changed at all... which was to be expected, really.
I doubt even a fraction of the people who said they're quitting actually will, be it because they were lying, or sunk cost fallacy. lol
Thank you Yoshida-sama for stopping the illegal third-party modifications to the perfect game of Final Fantasy XIV: DAWNTRAIL played by the greatest streamer of all time Asmongold! Let's be honest, i've seen a bunch of people and i mean A BUNCH, not doing anything beside mare stuff, they don't do content at all, sometimes not even leveling or doing MSQ, they have only one glam in game cause they don't care about vanilla and just cared about mare.
At least now they will stop spamming my whispers about it
What a ridiculous statement. And people actually upvoted you for this?
How many Skyrim editions were sold by Bethesda on the basis of its mod support?
Even Starfield sells the occasional copy just on the basis of its excellent Star Wars mod.
I'm not going to take sides on this 3rd party mod situation, because frankly, I don't care, and I've mostly moved onto other games anyway. To be fair, the mod users had gotten way to comfortable talking about them in open public spaces and it was eventually bound to happen, not to mention all the profiteering from the modders themselves. They kind of forced the company's response.
But make no mistake, mods have always extended a game's life, they've by and large been good for any game. Get your facts straight.
Yes, no argument here. Don't know what the laws in Japan are, I'll take your word for it.
I was more stressing the idea that a game that can't survive without a 3rd party tool somehow should die as being silly.
If that were the case, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines wouldn't be the classic it is today, if not for the Unofficial Patch. Same for Knights of the Old Republic 2. Skyrim wouldn't have been released with multiple editions without it's heavy mod support. And even GTA V and FiveM, the entire RP community in that. There's one in Red Dead Online as well. Conan Exiles.
There are many many examples of games that survived, just from the passion of hardworking modders.
With regard to 14, it is what it is. They're against ToS, they were in that grey are of "don't talk about them", players didn't listen, forced SE's hand. It's possible the new UK laws (EU next year as it seems also), had a hand in it as well.
Those games don't have it explicitly spelled out that it is AGAINST THE TOS TO MOD.
Just because other games with online components allow it doesn't mean all do. Everyone who signed up for this game agreed to the TOS regardless of if they read them are not, and at some point everyone in game has been told NEVER TALK ABOUT MODDING.
Not the point I was making. Please, reading comprehension.
I didn't say anything about the mods being in favour of ToS or not, I even specified that SE merely enforced their ToS.
I'm arguing against making bold faced silly statements like if a game can't survive without 3rd party plugins, it deserves to die. That's patently false, and it's been proven false time and again.
Please don't respond to arguments I didn't make.
You are really comparing Bethesda games and FFXIV ? Bethesda games are made for the modding community, always had been and always will be. I'm even convinced that it's in Bethesda DNA to have games that is a fantastic playground full of hole to be clogged by modders.
They even allow project like Skyblivion to exist, something not a lot of game companies would allow to. Or don't caring about the use of assets that are clearly coming from other companies / games / media.
CB3 has always been clear about what they think of mods, Yoshi-P telling again and again "don't use them, don't make them". Japanese law itself is against the existence of mods. Bethesda don't care about how and why you play Skyrim and what you do with it, it's not the case of CB3 and it's their right to do so, even more in a multiplayer game with part of its economy working around thing like mount, glamour and music, that are totally irrevelant for people using mods massively.
Being a multiplayer game had many other problems on the table and to be clear with you : I have NEVER been okay with the fact that my character is seen differently - sometime, even if it's a extreme minority, with adult mods - by other players using mods for example.
The biggest mod that I know of that even got official recognition from Valve (creators of Half Life series) is Black Mesa that started as a mod to remake Half Life 1. Valve even let them sell it on Steam and it's always being updated a decade later after the initial public release, it's really neat. SE would get so much good will if they reached out to mod authors and allowed them to make glams (sfw obviously) that are high quality and more and release them into the game officially like Valve did for the Black Mesa mod team.
No disrespect, but every time I see Mare I think Legend of Heroes Trails through Daybreak. :c She was fun.
I'm not comparing anything. I'm making a statement. Mods have always extended the lifespan of a video game, and calling for the death of a game, if some players use modding to improve their experience of it, is a ludicrous statement. If all games lived and died on just the state they're in when developers release them, we'd have alot fewer games.
I'm aware. Where did I argue otherwise?
As I said earlier, I don't know the laws in Japan, I'm not Japanese, I'll take people's word for it, if it's true, it's true. Again, what's your point?
Yes, it's their right, and they excercised by killing the mod in question. Where did I say otherwise?
This is entirely a you problem. Do you really believe I care if someone on the other end of their screen makes me look like a chicken? It doesn't impact me at all, I couldn't care less.
Nobody's forcing anyone to use mods. And the players that do, do so at their own risk.
If you want to argue that people are behaving a bit crazy by downvoting the game on Steam for a mod being shut down, yes I agree, they are. But this statement "If your game survives only on 3rd party mods, then it should shut down" is as insane as the players who're a trying to review bomb the game on Steam.
It's alright for some players to make insane statements, but not other players?
And let's be clear, selective banning is the real problem. It's either all ok, or none of it is. Half measures just increase player frustration.
Funny that this thread is still up while others got deleted. The forum mods are a bit confusing to me. If they don’t respect constructive feedback
about why the shutdown of Mare was a good thing, then I won’t bother giving any anymore. To me it just feels like we’re all wasting our time
trying to speak here in this forum. So I’m done. Bye.
peace out /wave
I don't disagree with this, but for whatever reason SE wants to keep full artistic control over the content of the game.
The closest we currently get is the hair and furnishing design contests, where winners do get their items added to the game, usually about a year after winning.
Stealth nerfed my favorite OOBs as well as taking down the moon, im angy. Can't even make a alt on my server due to "congestion" at 12AM on a sunday. The server is DEAD AND I CANT MAKE A CHARACTER WHAT ARE THEY DOIING
jokes aside, it'll take more than this for crystal to die. You underestimate the resilience of the folks living there.
I feel ya. I was on Seraph for a minute (moved there at Dawntrail launch) and it was booming. Got a house and everything, was having a lot of fun. Took a little hiatus, came back, and it was just dead. So I moved again, gave up the house I had and everything. I've been playing this game since 1.0; and since 2.0's launch till now, I've never seen anything like it (and I've been around on 14). It's so bad, I encourage new players to go to Aether/Primal/Crystal when they're asking where they should go, because I don't want to encourage them to go to a place that gives them the impression it's a dead or dying game.
World Visit is one thing; but, now that they've let the genie out the bottle with Data Center Travel, I have no idea how SE can fix the mess that they got themselves in. They really need to figure this one out though, because the state of Dynamis is completely unacceptable.
Crystal is doing just fine so far. They are a lot of different types of players on Crystal.
I see no change in Crystal, where I am based. Seems like an overly melodramatic thread title.
y'all cant even keep quiet about clones and forks, your toys deserved to be taken away at this point... ( -_-)
