Hello,
Are you planning to have the Achievements that players did NOT obtain in 1.XX, (Say someone missed Valentine's or didn't do Behest), be greyed out in 2.0? I missed Valentine's Achievements due to some issues, and it will be rather aggravating if I'm constantly reminded of the one or two Achievements which I missed. A method to hide them, or just not display ones you did not obtain would be rather appreciated.
Much Thanks.
It will go over just fine and they are not bieng shortsighted. LOL....
There is nothing wrong with rewarding the efforts of the current players with some extra stuff that can't be done after. They've already done it with the goobbue mounts. Are you saying that those who put up with version 1.0 through thick and thin don't deserve to be recognized for it?
You know, there are a few games out there where the world literally constantly changes, and the same thing never happens twice. Beat a big boss, and it's gone forever (a similar one might eventually appear somewhere else, but it still wont be exactly the same). IT"S SO UNFAIR! I CANT DO WHAT THAT GUY DID! give me a break... It's complaints like yours that limit creativity and what developers are allowed to do with a game.
1) Why would you be constantly aggrivated by artificial designated achievements that you didn't complete? Why would you need to consciously choose to hide them? You'll still know they're there, so I don't see this having any effect.Quote:

If you stop playing to win the achievements and start playing because the game is fun, you will stop being aggrivated by them.
They say that for a good reason. They want to ensure they have the rights to smack down whoever misuses their images, so they cannot tell anyone that they can use those videos.
What they can do, it's simply not to pursue people that aren't abusing the images for a reason or another. They're just slightly stuck in a small legal trap there, she said what she needed to say.
This is how I play all my games. I always enjoyed the thrill of unlocking secrets and killing special bosses but I've never understood this obsession with unlocking achievements. I've always put in excessive hours and work into killing secret bosses just for the experience of killing said boss.
Like killing that level 4000 Baal in the original Disgaea, avenging Laharl's father and becoming the Tyrant Overlord. Now THAT I feel, is an achievement. Not highlight a little sticker labeled "Secret Uber Boss Slayer!". I actually find those pop-up notices quite annoying. Whenever I see some ridiculously in-practical and no fun achievement like "Clear stage without getting hit or missing or touching the floor under 5 minutes" I just go "lol pass."
Did you play Kingdom Hearts: re:Coded?
Because that is seriously in that game. (well, not all three AT THE SAME TIME but one after the other) I mean, okay, it's not a useless Achivement, it's part of a 'score attack' portion of the game to unlock the most powerful weapon of the entire game, but still.
Is there a list of EQUIPMENT (such as weapons or armors) that won't be obtainable anymore in A Realm Reborn?
Welp, time to starting doing levequests for the first time in over a year.
Would be nice if you could include precisely which quests will be discontinued in A Realm Reborn in the "Discontinued Content" list. We can imagine that cutscenes relevant to these quests won't exist anymore and won't be viewable
When you say "revamped" and "not exactly as they are in the current version", I hope you only mean from a cinematics point of view (new models, lightings, camera angles and movements), and not the storyline and content. I couldn't care less if the cinematics are touched up (It's a new engine, it's probably not compatible with the old cinematics), but so far no one has been clear about whether the *content* of these cutscenes is unchanged or totally new in A Realm Reborn.
I think that if the quest storylines are different, the quests should be counted as new and not yet completed so that existing players can experience them fully (and not just the cutscenes). For example, if a player does the Carpenter 36 Class Quest in the current version, but A Realm Reborn's take on the CRP36 quest is totally different, it should not count as completed otherwise the player will not get to fully experience the new quest in A Realm Reborn with his current character.
I don't mind "re-doing" quests I've "already done" (well, if they're different, can't really say it's re-doing them), but I would seriously mind having to start over leveling a new character just to experience the new versions of quests because my character has "already done" them and is locked out.
Might just do that for posterity and comparison's sake!
Cheers!
I would also like to enquire to if there is going to be a list of Equipment released.
I mean, from the list of Achievements we can "assume" what will be unobtainable, i.e:
All NM Gear and Stronghold NMs Gear
All Ifirt Weapons
All Moogle Weapons
All Garuda Weapons
All Toto-rak Gear
All Darkhold Gear
All Aurum Vale Gear
All Cutter's Cry Gear
But clarification from the developers would be nice.
Much Thanks.
Agreed.
I was really hoping on doing those achievements in 2.0 with new classes/jobs, but oh wells.
If I'm really diligent I can knock out all of them in time. Takes 5 hours straight to do a behest for a camp, and I knocked out 2.5 levequest achievements in the meantime.
I'm confused. If the listed achievements are being removed how are they still going to be visible and tally towards the total points earned?
Or by removed do they simply mean that they still exist but will be unobtainable after the new version hits and forever linger in everyone's UI, which is something completely different.
I really want to know if I'll be a fool rushing and putting in a lot of effort doing something silly like 50 behests at Camp BlackBush to fill my achievement book up before 2.0 just to have it not count due to a misunderstanding on my part.
I can understand the achievements which are compatible with the new world and game version carrying over as completed. But I'm confused if you mean the ones on the list to be culled will also if they're already completed currently for a player. As I had originally read it to mean that they were not going to carry over at all (completed or not) but your comment sounds like they will.
I'm not sure how Rukkirii's statement is confusing. She clearly states that you will be able to check the achievements that you completed in the current version and that the points you gained from those achievements will not be lost. I mean, I dunno how much more clear it can be.
The achievements are being discontinued, not removed.
Most likely, however, if you haven't gotten the achievement you won't get a permanent empty spot on your record but it just won't show, and most likely, the achievement points will never be used for anything. So the only advantage to doing this is for the OCD and Title Collectors.
The larger question here is, "are we, in the long run, going to be 'punished' for not doing this now?".
Or there might be a "discontinued" category in the achievements page.
I don't know about "punished" but... if say... down the road they decide points can be redeemed for something. Why shouldn't I have an advantage over you if I put in the time to get something that had we ALL had a limited window for? You have a choice right now to use your time for completing things that will still be here in 2.0, or to complete things that won't be. Gotta weigh the risk/reward factor for yourself. I may be wasting my time on just "bragging rights" really, or it could be useful one day lol
I would dislike this. It'd be like a permanent "Neeners neeners you'll never be able to get this anymore!!". Surely something I can deal with, but not something I'd like.
Punished is a strong word. More like, are we going to really feel it by having less options than others if we don't do this right now while we still can, or is it simply something we'll never notice again.
Hmmm... Yeah that's definitely something we'd need some Dev input on. Though I can't imagine that the advantage(s) to doing this stuff while you can (rather than ignoring it) would be much, if any, over others. In the long run, if we can spend points later, an extra few hundred points won't make a hell of a difference in the grand scheme of things when there are 5000+ points available to you (let's say a year or two after 2.0 is launched).
While views about achievements will differ from person to person, we feel that achievements that were accomplished during the current version of the game should be reflected in A Realm Reborn. With that said we will be making it so points gained from achievements in the current version are carried over to ARR, and those achievements will remain displayed in the achievement UI as well.
Also keep in mind that incomplete achievements from the current version that will no longer be available in ARR will not be displayed in the achievement UI.
Makes sense
Please consider giving us a list of lodestone history content that is also missable.
Quest completion?
NMs?
GC related content?
Going by what was said, if you complete one of the achieves that are being discontinued, you will keep the points and it will be displayed in your ui for ARR. If you don't do the achieve, you will not have the points (obviously) and it won't be displayed in ui.
I'm just going to guess based on the information we were given about Achievements.
Quests: Most of the side-quests and class quests will be intact though they might be different. I'd do any quests related to Primals, dungeons or the Grand Companies now as the achievements for the Primals and dungeons are being discontinued.
All of the "Big Game Hunter" achievements are being discontinued, which dealt exclusively with NMs in all zones. I'd say kill as many as you can now because they're either moving them all around or removing them and putting new ones in. I can't see any other reasons for discontinuing these achievements. This also includes the Stronghold boss NMs.
As for the Grand Companies, I'd say complete as many quests as you can considering a good portion of them deal with the 7th Umbral Era, a story arc that will end with 2.0.
I'm glad that there are achievements not available in 2.0 that are now. I'm just now happy that we have achievements that aren't available in 2.0 that aren't even available right now to obtain.
No, the quote from Rukkirii said "incomplete" achievements will not be displayed (i.e. unearned). So if you didn't earn a discontinued achievement before A Realm Reborn launches, it will not be displayed in the UI as unfinished or missed. And achievement points, rewards, and titles earned will be carried over.
Hope that clears it up!
