What do we have to look forward to in Dawntrail?
Attractive scantly clad female adversaries that selected sexy armor because they figure it worked for those guys in 300 so it will work for them too, but failed to realize those guys in 300 lost... >.>
If I was to be so cynical and give up I wouldn't even deserve to be critical of this game. It has several aces it can play. Like beastmaster and it's new lifestyle content. Aswell as the zone we've been promised. I won't lie down and assume worst without seeing it first. We can't all be nihilistic like that. If I'm wrong let me see it with my own eyes. Because I know just as easily you could be wrong
More Roegadyns
Blitzball (not in Gold Saucer)
I want a conquistador outfit.

I'm just imaging all the Kotaku and Polygon articles lol
I kinda want to hunt a Quetzalcoatl and wear it's skin as an outfit..
Blame Monster Hunter... >.>
Please enjoy Crystal Tower and World of Darkness in higher detail!
I LOVE the new summoner btw.

A copy paste of Shadowbringers and Endwalker with some half baked attempts at side content and more classes being ruined like Summoner was.
I'm super curious as to what kind of narrative themes are gonna be prevalent in Dawntrail. Also cautiously optimistic about its focus on 'group play.'
With EW having the worst content droughts in the game's history, it really is helping players discover other games and they may not return for DT or stay for very long if they do. Unlike previous expansions, EW has had very little hooks to keep you playing and if DT continues the same direction, more and more players will simply drift away. The concept of taking a break to play other games is all fine and good but if you have to do it after every single patch (especially 2 weeks into the patch), there is a design problem as playing other games should only really be needed once and maybe twice per expansion cycle.
I'm not asking for Genshin level of player retention as that will burn out players with high levels of FOMO, but more like what we used to have in the past:
* Exploration zones - playing with lots of people is fun
* Relics - real relics not tome weapons, think HW style. I don't consider the EW relic a relic but a tome weapon, a relic should have some commitment. Also, for the love of the game, please start the relic at 7.0 or 7.1 not 7.3.
* Variant / Criterion dungeons with good rewards, better difficulty tuning and roulettes
* Expert roulettes with more dungeons - why do we have to have only 2, consider keep all of the current expansion experts in the cycle to keep it fresh as having one dungeon in the cycle for 9 months is boring
* Return to a 3 to 3.5 month patch cycle from the 4.5
What's funny is you say those things as if they're objectively good. Exploration zones, grindy relics, criterion dungeons, expert roulettes, I have no interest in whatsoever. If you could at least admit that this was just a personal preference, that'd be great, because not everyone thinks those things are all awesome by default.
As for the patch cycle, well, you might as well say "do better things faster". It's not going to happen.
If you have no interest in those activities, why do you care about other people having issues with them? If it's content you weren't going to engage with then the changes people want to see happen will never appeal or apply to you, surely? Why do you care about issues people have with parts of the game you don't engage with?
I'm just gonna be frank here...when the "worst content drought in the game's history" is still significantly shorter than what are sometimes *regular* content droughts in other games...that's an unfortunate thing for the moment, but actually says good things about this game's production team.
I have issue with someone saying that EW is objectively worse and that the game needs to focus on those things instead, because I enjoyed EW, and I enjoy where FFXIV is currently heading. What I enjoy about FFXIV might not be for everyone though, and I freely admit that it's just my opinion. If you frame your wishes as objective truth, I'll speak up.
So it's a bit of a semantics issue then, I suppose! Because obviously the games not dying there's people playing etc etc but if every facet of the game that someone enjoys ends up being the victim of missteps or bad decisions then for them it does feel like the entire game is being ruined/declining. It's silly because that means a lot of squabbling and animosity could be avoided amongst people with different priorities if people just tacked "IMO" onto whatever they're complaining about or praising. Like it's kinda tiring trying to raise concerns or criticisms over granular parts of things like battle systems and combat stuff specifically and then having to defend that position from people that claim to have zero interest in it or that, without sounding like a prick, don't know any better, so it wouldn't ever affect them anyways. Every time someone says they have an issue and they have a chorus of people pipe up "well I'M having fun" really screams "screw you, I've got mine" and it makes it very hard to talk about issues with the game without it devolving into shit-slinging.
More G-Warrior (G-Savior) content please
Agreed that being explicit with "I think" or "In my opinion" would defuse a lot of the animosity before it begins :) I'm bad at it myself, and yes, sometimes, you can assume someone is using the silent "imo", but a lot of times, it very much seems like they're acting as if what they're saying is the objective truth.
To be clear, and to answer the silly notion that I'm "the biggest white knight on these forums", I've had a ton of issues with FFXIV, and think I've mentioned them here on these forums before. (thanks for answering me in good faith btw, it's nice to not always just argue with people, I know I come across as condescending and dismissive sometimes/often).
