at least we get recolored, still not dyeable glam from the past.... thats better than nothing. right?.... right?
Some recoloured gear alongside a lot of new gear. Endgame dungeons alternate between new designs and recycled ones – in Endwalker: Darbar and Troian vs Manalis and Distance; in Shadowbringers: Warg, Shadowless and Paglth'an vs Anamnesis and Heirloom; in Stormblood: Skallic, Bonewicca and Alliance vs Farlander and Volunteer... there's nothing new in this pattern.
Raid, alliance and tome sets give us new designs every time, and the second and third tiers of endgame crafted sets are usually new designs as well.
Because the content drought is becoming longer and longer between patches, patches are getting less and less content and they fill the gaps with overpriced mogstation items that barely function on their own designed characters
People shouldn’t be “fine” with less content because square certainly isn’t reducing the sub cost for releasing nothing of value on the last 2 years and why people think paying a sub so you can play other games is a good thing I’ll never know
I don't feel that imbalance. Maybe because I've got a few characters, but I'm still collecting in-game gear for them. Mog Station is not necessary, and doesn't feel like it's "filling a content gap" at all. I do buy things sometimes to complete an outfit, but they're not "content".
If I got to the point where I had nothing left to do but hang out waiting for a new outfit to be released, that's the point where I'd be off on one of those fabled breaks doing something else until new actual content arrives here.
To be honest, I still haven't gotten around to doing everything on my main either.
My point remains: even if I only had the one character and got through everything I wanted to do, I'd be off playing something else until there is more gameplay content available here.
Paid outfits are not content in and of themselves. They augment your experience of the game while you are playing it, but they do not provide a reason to play it. One is not being substituted for the other.
If they were putting quests or battles as paid content, that would be a different argument.
The problem is misuse of resources
In this particular case it’s an old Korean glam but in general when people are begging for new content because the content patches are slower than a snail releasing new mogstation glams (even if different teams work on them) in a game we already pay for just isn’t a good look at all
Different strokes I guess, as said it doesn't bother me personally I know there's stuff I can do, content that's available if I so chose. New content is great granted, but should I be bothered cause I'm not getting it in this time that I want it?, I could be disappointed by that but since I have options available too me it is not a big thing, if you will, for me.
I just don't see that equivalence. The game is the game; Mog Station is like a supporting business off to the side of it, and anything released there makes me glance at it for a moment and then go back to what I was doing, whether it's playing this game or something else.
If you wanted to make a point, you should have used a recent in-game cosmetic set like the Salon Server sets or Pajama sets or the Lawless Enforcer sets or the Varsity sets or the Happiness set (now that would have been a good choice) as a comparison.
Instead you use a set added to the game over 8 years ago worn by a character that wasn't intended to wear it when it was originally added to the game and intentionally dyed a drab color by the player.
You're scraping bottom in your desperation to get people to agree with you.
I'd still pick the Thavnairian Bustier over the new Magitek set on the cash shop. It looks better and the aesthetic is represented in the game world. The Magitek set is unlike anything we've seen in the game world and really doesn't fit. I mean the description is correct is saying that it's eye-catching, but not in a favorable way. If they wanted to sell a Magitek themed set, they would have been better off choosing the catsuits from Sorrows of Werlyt.
The Magic Trick? I don't see it getting much use (if any) outside of the RP venues. Looks like another item players will buy just because it is new, use for about a week then forget about like all the other emotes they never casually use.
The framed expansion artwork set is the only recent addition to the cash shop that even faintly annoys me. Those would have been a nice reward for the Rising since they represent the game's lore since ARR. But we get plenty of other housing furnishings and I'm still more likely to use a frame with a picture from the Sightseeing Log than the expansion artwork. Those are just a bit too big for the way I like to decorate.
So from my perspective, they've added some more items to the cash shop that wouldn't really be appealing as in-game rewards because I wouldn't use them. I'm fine if SE wants to sell them to other players.
I'm sure there are other players who feel different but it's up to them to come forward with their thoughts.
Imagine not getting the fact that it was a joke to use the thavnarian set. Woosh over your head eh ? even wrote under it "this man is handsome but come on SE" clearly showing that it was a joke
Also for the rest of your post yeah idk, you're just being your usual you, not much I can say
And you being your normal self looking for things to be negative about. I get some players hate like the cash shop but until you convince all players in every game to stop buying from them, it's going to be a part of gaming. Most players don't seem to care enough about how they spend their money for that to ever happen. Why wasting effort on a battle that you can only lose?
Hope you don't have to continue switching to new forum avatars. We may not get along but you should be allowed to speak your mind like everyone else.
Sadly its an FFXIV thing to not be able to speak your mind, its an entire mentality really that you should be following the herd, I aint part of that, so I didnt expect anything else, it's the same in the game too, you better not be agaisnt what is being said or risk getting banned, as for looking at things to be negative about, I have always been vehemently agaisnt the mogstation, and even more since the amazing street attire, some stuff could be in the game in form of grinds or anything else, but lately it's almost been only mogstation purchases.
If the cash shop is being updated more regularly than the actual game then I think that's a clear issue in itself. One of the most common complaints in regards to the game has been the lack of content with staying power and meaningful rewards. FFXIV has a lot of focus on optional merchandise in general, even putting aside the cash shop itself. They plan months ahead and have a lot of merchandise on the Square Enix store already on waiting lists.
It's something I don't really see with other MMO's.
As it stands, we're looking at almost a year until Dawntrail launches and the established trend for 'meaty' patch content has been for it to come later on in the patch cycle, meaning that those of us waiting for something along the lines of Bozja and Eureka are very likely looking at an almost two year wait assuming we even get any at all as part of Dawntrail.
I think the outfit is hideous, just like most of the more modern clothing in the game. HOWEVER, I wish they would put the effort into designing new gear for the actual game instead of giving us recolors of stuff from older expansions and then releasing more mog station items.
Goes to show you have no idea what you're talking about.
Horse armour says hello.
And making money is not the same as making money hand over first.
Oh and we already pay for a product to play, pay monthly, pay for each expansion, pay for more storage capacity (that'll never get better as to fleece you more) and now we reached a point where raid mounts are a joke compared to what's being sold at the same time.
It's not enough to make money. It'll never be enough untill they've made all the money in the universe. That's AAA (and capitalism) for you.
Why are you shilling for a multi billion [currency] company again while working against your best interests as a consumer? Kinda weird. At least just buy it and don't defend it.
Those are in the game already. The catsuits are the Late Allagan melee gear and their other uniform is the mage gear.
As I wrote earlier, the balance of how much gear they give us is still much more in favour of new designs going into the game rather than Mog Station.
In patch 6.4 or thereabouts we got:
- new tomestone sets
- new raid sets
- new crafted sets
- new pajama glamour set (technically x3 but single model)
- new Mount Rokkon glamour sets
- new Phoenix Riser suit
- recoloured dungeon set
...and somehow multiple people look at that and construe it as "we just get old recoloured gear in the game now while the new stuff goes to Mog Station".
Making a few glamour sets, a mount and an emote takes far less time than producing hours of content and dozens if not hundreds of items to go with that content, especially when those making the former have no responsibilities for helping with the latter. It doesn't hurt that the KR cash shop team is getting paid by the KR game publisher to create the items.
Create a list of all the optional items in the cash shop and it's not going to come close to the number of items in game even if you do a release date comparison. It's really easy to forget what we are getting in game when it doesn't get any special attention outside of maybe a quick peek at concept art during a Live Letter while the items going to the cash shop get datamined and shared by the dataminers through social media far in advance of their JP/NA/EU release not to mention the Lodestone post announcing the sale.
Square Enix is engaging in capitalism. Most of us posting here on the EN forums live in capitalist countries and earn our income because of capitalism. It makes the complaints about the cash shop look somewhat silly, especially considering I doubt there is MMO of any type out there lacking a cash shop these days.
As I said to Stormpeaks earlier, as long as there are people willing to spend the money to get the extras to enjoy in game there will be cash shops. If you can find some way to get people to stop buying off the cash shop, maybe games will stop putting items there. Otherwise it's just a losing battle.
As the saying goes, we have to learn to pick our battles. I'd rather fight a battle I have a chance at winning than one that is already lost.
Thanks for the info. I don't PvP so that's how I missed them.
honestly the more I look at this glam the more I like it. Once I saw some different color variations of it. Yeah, the headphones need fixed but evidently that can be done. Don't know if I can say no haha
The headphones are a terrible idea for half the races who have more unique ears, the hoodie looks nice enough but no thought put in for characters with tails... And the Au Ra version is specially with the earphones is amusing since their horns are their ears, so they're wearing them as a silly hat.
Really wish theyd put more thought and effort into the details like that.
The Viera headphones while accurate just doesnt look pleasing to see at least from my point of view.
Glad I only play Hyur and Roegadyn characters at least there I dont have to worry about some awkward gear transition with races.
What happened to Alexia D?
They can just take glam set meant for mogstation, add some simple progression to it (for V&C coins, or currency from any other dead content) and this simple things will give players reason to run some content, and we would have something to do. Yet they put it behind paywall.
My honest opinion of the mogstation is this: Items that were obtainable in game first and added to the station later. Remove those items and make them obtainable in game again, even if its for short periods of time. Items created specifically for the mogstation I dont mind paying. But I am fully with those who feel the prices need to be lowered from what they currently are. $40 for a mount is crazy no two ways about it, I got 3 hobbies I invest into when I can and $40 can go a long ways with either of those 3 hobbies. I have wanted fenrir since its release and have still not picked up. Partly do to price and partly cause I always have some better place to put the money.
Mogstation glam! Yipeee! The headphone placement is awful. Surely they could of done it better. I wont buy it.
The mogstation scary baroness lady get more detailed and content than the players themselves, they can't add a normal good looking skirt/ hakama ffs.
