There is no think here. He is right. Offendee was kicked out of a raid group for their behavior and they're in an FC full of like minded actual elitists. Just because you're nice doesn't mean you turn the other cheek to a direct threat to your account or person over something so petty, especially when it's during the one day a year where everyone shouldn't be an ass.

The more the OP talks, the more it sounds like the two are a match made in heaven for each others.

And ... curiously ... how do you just know this? You know the offendee personally, or did you guys actually stalked him for this information? Another curiosity part of the OP's story is if the two never know each others and even claim he never interact with the offendee, how does he know the what the OP was doing to begin with?

Tbh, this is getting a little bit creepy, this sound more and more like some kind of personal issues with one another and one party just come here to seek some kind gratification and validation. Not the first time it had happened, and it's not the first time they get rebuke either. The internet, naturally is a place for a lot of skepticism for good reason. Most people won't be convinced with just one side of the story. And usually, the kind of people who seek personal validation with stranger are often not the type who know how to carry their story in an empathetic manner like you two had demonstrated.


And my advise, stop trying to pretend to be the "nice" party here. Right or wrong aside, I don't think there will be many people who read the whole thread will be remotely convinced that the two of you are nice people by any standard given the way you're been talking, even if you're given the benefit of the doubt to be the "right" party ... Like someone else had said near the beginning, even if the "offendee" was totally in the wrong, the OP already more or less brought himself to the same level with his opening post, and that means the two of you have been sinking below that since.

Long story short after all this, people are too emotional. Crying because cookie trade and crying to forum because cookie trade. That being said everyone who would be upset about a cookie trade at face value need to take a break from mmo.

I'm just reporting this, I had nothing to do with any of it. We're in the same FC and were in voice chat. Fult has raided with all kinds of people and he's been in and met multiple raid groups, one of which had this guy and they don't tolerate the offendees behavior so they removed him for now. To repeat myself, Fult just walked up asked if they wanted a cookie and they just melted down.

Then don't threaten people with a report over a cookie trade when there was zero provocation of any kind. This thread wouldn't exist in the first place if people just chilled out over something so small. If you treat people with respect they will be respectful back to you most of the time. The rest of the time you get this type of player. He can come here and defend himself if he wants, in fact I encourage it. I'm just calling it as I see and hear it. Maybe he was just having a bad day, I completely get that. But you shouldn't take it out on innocent people.

a little confused now since the OP said they had zero interactions with the person.

either way, doesnt matter, but as suspected, more to the story than what was in the original post it seems.

Someone once saw I was undergeared and came back with accessories for my gatherers in the caves near Copperbell Mines. I never saw them before, I never saw them since. Just thanked and then he left.

Should he be banned and blocked and massacrated like this just because he randomly showed up, traded me items and had literally no text interaction other than me saying "Thank you :o" and him going "Saw you were undergeared, made some of these."

Y'all need some holiday spirit, bunch of grinches this...

Detestable behavior from a person acting as a moral authoritarian and dictating to me how I should behave when you don't follow your own advice is detestable. I won't and you are right about the headache, definitely not worth it. But why should I move along? I didn't do anything wrong and I'm not a victim nor the bad guy, but how about the person who is harassing not only me but others to walk away??? It's the forums, i play since ARR and i can tell you exactly not much has changed regarding the forums. The forums do not reflect in any way the ingame experience of the game nor does the forum represent the community overall.

If you take all people who write here together that wouldn't even be 0,001% of the playerbase. So maybe it is wise to not pigeonhole millions of people into the same drawer just cause it is easier and simpler for your personal worldview.

It just goes on to show how important moderation and regulation is. Both the reddit community and the ingame community are much more of a reflection of all the community award the game received while this forums is more like an alternate reality of it. A thread of this nature on reddit would have been locked by the admin right after it passed the 2nd page. Also on the WoW forum, once a while you see someone complain they just got banned in FF14 because "I just said to the pug what I always say in WoW!" and I was like "yeah, can't do that in FF14, they're strict on stuff like that".

It has never been the players who shape the community, 'cause people are the same everywhere and there shouldn't be any illusion the FF14 players are somehow more special. It has always been the result of the players being "herd" by policies. Complain about reddit's censorship if you want (even though I had seen they allow criticism, you're not just allowed to be unhinged hyperbolic like ... half of the complain here are), complain about how "draconian" the GM of FF14 are ... but whenever I look at the state of this forum and boys am I glad those rules are in place.

With how "off-hand" the moderators on this forum are, it almost feel like some kind of social experience to see how deep the rabbithole the "community" can go down.

That's just a blanket statement. Saying "It's the forums" and using an arbitrary % and how long you yourself have been playing doesn't justify folk's bad behavior. The problem is that they do give people on the outside looking in the impression is this is how we as an overall community behave and that this is the norm when it's an exception...like children throwing tantrums for things the devs are not giving them that doesn't benefit the overall community just a small faction within it... Back in the day, the forums were a better place, where you could have a decent and intelligent conversation and respectfully disagree (with proof) without the personal attacks or this woke, merry-go-round psyops narrative in order to shut down other POVs. When this game got popular with WOW's sudden population decrease is when the forums changed. Sadly those days are gone but can come back if we just treat each other as decent human beings. There are people who dont play the game at all and just log in so they can maintain there access to the forums, it's no big surprise. if you think I am making this up, just go to the lodestone and do a player search on some of these folks who sit on the forums all day long and see when they logged into the game last.

Ok, my last post on this topic before moving on:
-I all seen how folks tried to put a put spin on my OP with a tryhard insert of information that was never there, to begin with, in a failed attempt to make me out as someone I am not. Someone then attempted to dehumanize me for just being a decent normal person and claiming my " false 'nice' " was an act (and with no facts backing up his claim) when the person tried some merry-go-round psyops using blanket statements (and failing horribly) and lacking any intellectual integrity in an attempt to spin a narrative with willful ignorance and a perceived gap of information, said person proclaimed that they are morally superior to me and began personal attacks against me when I asked for receipts that backed there claims when nothing was produced except some made up narrative and more personal attacks against me and others who backed my claims up, that is when I diatribed him into the ground. Not one moment before my diatribe I verbally attack that person on a personal level (Yes, I labeled him a Moral Authoritarian by trying to force me to change my behavior and morals to fit his narrative. I bend my knee to no man!!)
- My intentions were out of just being a decent human being "nice" with no alternative motives and not pushing any narratives.
- Yes I have blocked said person as they are not worth my time and a waste of my intellect to give him an answer.
- And most of all I am not sorry! and will not apologize for something when I was never in the wrong in the first place.
and with that, I hope you folks stop listening to individuals who try to make attempts to purposefully misinterpret what others are saying with malice to fill a narrative, read everything at face value first and if you have any doubts ask questions and don't accuse folks of actions/information that was not there, to begin with. Some people are just mentally unstable and need to work on themselves. Especially ones with a clear temper problem. As far as what I read. You acted in good faith and overall, was just being a good person. I wouldn't take someone else's internal problems seriously. It's not your responsibility to fix them. They need to work on that themselves.

100% this. A lot here are just complaining for the sake of it or because they are bored between patches. In their eyes having a run that takes 30 seconds longer is akin to a hate crime. The real community in game is quite nice.
