Doubtful. People will still buy this in droves, regardless of the price. Nobody actually cares that the headgear doesn't show on viera/hroth anyway.. anyway quite a few viera/hroth players will buy it regardless! When it comes to the point of people "voting with their wallet" they vote by buying whatever it is they put out.
I'm probably going to buy this one when I am able. Really liked the look of it when we got a preview of it a couple of months back. Still, I feel that $4 for what amounts to an alternate top seems excessive though. I was expecting the price to be $18 like just about every other cash shop exclusive set.
The gloves and the shoes i like the most. I do wish the jacket had some different options. Pants I'm just pretending do not exist; i mean, most people in Limsa don't wear pants anyway! : D

If that were true, you wouldn't be the best consumer.
Anyway, my thoughts on streetwear? Hideous.
not much to look at will keep my gear.
My thoughts on it...

I look Hella Ga...Rate and Cute. Last Day of Pride, got a cute look for it.
I really love the croptop, finally males can wear a croptop. But the Hat looks so wide and awkward on Roegadyn...

Even Calfskin Hat is way better than this...
XI doesn't really have that mix. It does have some fluff items that you can get from annual events & the login campaigns, but overall, they've really kept to a fantasy setting. It's quite easy to still feel immersed in that world vs. what we have in XIV.
I realize the immersion ship sailed ages ago for XIV, but I really hope that any future MMO SE creates really focuses on world building, and creates things that fit within that world. IMO, XIV has too many crossovers and way, way, WAY too much fanservice. Yes, there are staples within the FF franchise that always crop up in the various games, but at this point it feels cheap.
Looks okay. It certainly tickles that 90s fashion nostalgia bone. It would look better if it didn't have the Moogle logo on the back though. It reminds me of those urban Looney Tunes shirts that were so popular in the 90s/00s I thought they were kind of cringey way back when as a kid and I think it looks tacky now in Moogle form. Should have been blank or something different like the Meteor. And once again, it makes me wish they would just sell the pieces individually. They'd get more business out of me if I could just buy what I want instead of having to buy an entire set for just one piece.
And either I'm suffering from deja vu or this was shown off somewhere else a few weeks ago, because I could swear this outfit was already out.
The price is fine.
You get two sets of outfits, neither of which are gender locked like.. lets just say.. the Lyse outfit.
Good move releasing it as a single bundle, i was worried it would be male/female sets.
Yeah, but not everyone wants to buy both. If we have to buy both simply because both are fitted to both male and female, then I'd rather it stay locked. Hopefully this doesn't become the norm in the future. It would be preferable, if they fit both, that one could choose which type to purchase and also have the choice to purchase it bundled like this. Of course, it is around a $5 difference currently bundled, while the norm for a single set costs about $18.
I would personally rather buy the individual pieces at a slightly higher price (it looks like a chest is worth 4 bucks considering how the new set is priced). In a bundled set, each piece would likely technically be discounted, but I'm still spending more overall for the extra pieces I don't actually care about. SE would have to mark up the individual pieces by a lot for it to not be a better deal than the bundles for most people.
Viera and hrothgar are a non-issue. Yoshida stated they wouldn't get hats prior to their release. They have only budged on this stance on occasion with a select few pieces, it is an exception. Aside from that fact, there is a disclaimer in the store. If a viera or hrothgar player chooses to purchase an outfit at that point, it is on them. Now, they can keep trying to give feedback to change that stance, perhaps request hatless variants for a lesser cost, but it has no affect on my thoughts on this matter.
Funnily enough, we were talking about this in the off-topic thread this morning. This is definitely a situation where you have to be careful what you wish for. If we were being fair, in terms of a cash shop, one could separate each variant and also have a bundle available for purchase which includes all pieces for a slightly discounted price than buying them all separately. As I was saying in my prior post. Now, if they did include pieces sold seperately at a higher cost, depending on the severity of the price hike, actually, yes, I would like to buy pieces separately. I can tell you right now I don't want every piece of this set, and with the majority of pieces on the mogstore I do not want the majority of pieces in the majority of sets. I only want specific pieces from each. I have routinely wasted $15-$18 for nothing but one piece from a set, and I'd say quite a few players have done the same who use the store.
And it's ok for SE to continue treating them like limited races? It is mind-boggling to me that they wouldn't take the time to make headgear work for them, especially since they are trying to sell it. To me it just shows how little SE cares about their players when they don't bother making the headgear work for 2 races and make it barely work for a third. All about the profits over the experience of the players unfortunately.
Pricing for costumes isn't entirely 'even' as the number of items in each set varies, yet they all cost $18 (for non-NPC). So depending on the set, you're essentially paying $3 - $6 per item. If they were to price it somewhere in that range, I imagine they would snag a lot more of that juicy mogstation cash as there are plenty of people who refuse to buy full sets for a single piece here and there.
Yes, they were designed that way from the start. It was stated prior to their release that they weren't getting hats, rather headgear wouldn't be shown on them due to their "unique head shapes". Yoshida relented on all headgear, when some devs worked on it in their "free time", so minor headgear such as circlets, crowns, glasses, etc. are available, but they still do not get hats, and this has been made very clear, many, many times. If we were talking about hairstyles, specifically racial unique, there then can be cause for discussion, as there was a statement made soon after ShB, if I recall, that they would get these hairstyles.
Any viera or hrothgar player who still chooses to play the race, despite it being well known that not all headgear is displayed, is a choice they made themselves. That being said, there is an argument that can be made that it isn't made known well enough in-game. Miqo'te not having their ears shown is.. unfortunate. They should do ears for premium outfits, for sure, for miqo'te.
I just completely disagree with you and the defense that "they said 3 years ago they weren't gonna have hats" and that people are saying the dev team is doing the right thing and players who want to play Viera and Hrothgar should suffer for it. It's an even more pathetic of an excuse when you see what modders do days after a patch release with headgear for the races. It's even more sad when Yoshida said devs used their off time to make a few headgears for Hrothgar and Viera when they first came out.
To me the whole "We aren't going to spend Dev resources fixing 2 of our races" is bullshit and needs to stop. It's the same as housing, stop blaming and punishing players and focus anger at SE for doing a bad job and get them to fix it.
Them not getting hats is how it was possible for them to be made and look the way they do in the first place. If people would prefer, they could have just not done the races altogether. It was stated by Yoshida, if I recall correctly, this was their "last chance" to add races. Prior to launch players of both female viera and male hrothgar said that they were fine not getting headgear, even PRIOR to the news that minor headgear was being made available, because of a few dedicated devs. This was originally a good intention. Now, we are seeing a lot of animosity from many over something that was never supposed to be in the first place! Again, if we were talking about hair, then we can have a conversation. People waited years for something that we thought was promised, but we aren't talking about that.
No player is being punished for anything. They chose to play these races, despite it being well known they don't get headgear. Again, that is a personal decision by those players. Again, there is also a disclaimer in the shop, so any of these players choosing to purchase the outfit regardless, is another personal decision. On the matter of mods, I am pretty sure SE could take down quite a few of them, if they so choose. Especially the ones who have this PRODUCT up, by the way.
"Last chance" to add races as they add in Male Viera and Female Hrothgar (someday). The point I make with that is that SE says a lot of things and goes to show that they can do it if they allocate resources to it. I can understand SE not going back to every previous piece of headgear and making it work because of the time needed for that, but I don't understand why they never bothered making all the headgear from that point on work for Viera and Hrothgar. It is just so random which pieces they decide to make work for them and which don't. If you are going to bother making like the Reaper headgear work for Viera why not make the rest of them work as well?
As for punishing players, if you play a Viera or Hrothgar or want to play them, you are choosing an objectively worse race than any of the others. I don't understand why the ones in charge don't dedicate resources to fix the issues with the races, as you said hairstyles being one definitely (didn't they say Male Viera wouldn't have the same issues as Female?), but also why they don't make follow on headgear work on all races.
I think its lame and immersion breaking but I can see why people like it.
Most large businesses hedge forex. They sign a contract at the start of the year (or whatever period) to buy a currency for a set amount. Sometimes they end up losing money on it, sometimes they make money, however they have the benefit of no sudden surprises when a currency drops through the floor.
US$22.00 is 2986 円
€17,50 is 2486 円
£15.00 is 2476 円
Price in Japan is 2,420 円
When they renegotiate the hedge you sometimes see the prices change, but it usually it just means things are pretty steady and won't flip around day to day.
Imagine the mess if we could buy the outfit at €17,50 one day, but the following day it was €17,80. Can you imagine the forum salt? Or worse, you bought it at €17,80 and the next day it was €17,10?
I like it, but it's annoying that Miqo'te ears won't show and Hrothgars and Vieras can't even wear the hat. The shoes aren't my favorite either.
It's a bit overpriced, even if it's unisex and has two clothing options.
Far too modern. The set looks like it's fresh out of real life and doesn't fit the game like so many other sets for my taste. I wish SE would come around and do more glamor like the happiness set, they were in the right direction at least for a second.
They could implement a system where you trade a Yshtola NFT for an in-game Inflatable Among Us costume and people would still defend it. How anybody can defend outfits at this price is beyond me, and that's not to mention the fact it's completely out of place. Although I know asking for fantasy costumes in a fantasy game is probably asking for too much.
And yes, I was obviously exaggerating about the nft costume but buying into cash shop schemes like this only enables the company to try more anti consumer practices in the future. In a few years, theyll be selling glams you couldve gotten in game, but for like 2 or 3x the price. Mark my words. And the community will have nobody to blame but themselves for enabling it
And yet another cash grab for a game that I already bought and pay for monthly.
And that ridiculous pricing is only gonna go up from here.
Will wait for it to be wearable on all races. And then again on when its on sale.
The only part I was interested in was the Jacket, then I saw the image of the back and even that went away.
I like it :D
Wrote this last night had it copied (was at post limit). Might as well post the reply.
Yes, I think at the time of that statement, it may truly have been their last chance to do so. I have had the suspicion for quite a while that the outlook for FFXIV, prior to ShB, was bleak, rather they weren't totally sure of FFXIV's future at that point in time. As for male viera, I was against their inclusion at that time, supposedly they were made in some passionate devs' free time. Whether one is to believe that or not, having the addition of male viera no doubt has an affect on the resources they can, or are willing, to allocate to these races. Limited resources, should also be the reason they just largely stopped making unique pieces for races with unique ears, and tails in mind (ear holes, ear socks, bowtie by your tail, etc.).
I don't think it is that random actually. Like I was saying this morning in another thread, I think one of the major reasons why this hat specifically doesn't work is due to them not having hat hair. Typically, if they make any headgear such as this available for these races, it is a full faced helmet (and for hrothgar it smashes their face in, I've heard), or things that cover a good portion of their heads. This allows them to simply clip viera ears through the top of the headpiece, and not worry about having to show hat hair. Now, realistically, this is a solvable problem, really headgear in general is a solvable problem. If they spent some dev time, they could produce some hat hair, and theoretically manually fit these pieces to viera and hrothgar. Simply clipping viera ears right through the top. They already allow for some horrific clipping, particularly on au ra males.
If I was being asked personally, yes, I do think premium pieces, event items, and select iconic pieces, should have both viera and hrothgar in mind - at least overtime. I think miqo'te should also have their ears shown (Ear holes) on this piece, and every other premium piece, at the very least. Really, I think they should make ear holes for EVERY piece in the game for miqo'te, and races with tails should have variants made specifically for them, as tailed races make a large portion of their active playerbase. The majority actually, but I digress.
I personally think that they may think, if they make headgear largely available, it will become an expectation for them to make future headgear largely available. Increasing their workload each patch. When they already set the precedent that they would not get hats. If you were asking me, I think they should do it anyway for certain pieces. I do think SE OVERALL should devote more time and resources to the game. I refuse to believe it is impossible for them to make certain headgear or higher quality hairs available, in at least a semi-timely fashion. By "timely fashion" I mean not once or twice every three years. If they can't do something like that, then I think there must be something going very wrong over at SE.
Either way, the best a player can do is try to change their minds through feedback. I suggest across platforms, like on Twitter as well. As it stands, they don't seem to have any intention on changing that precedent they have set.
I think it's very bland- but it's also not my taste & far from it
It's too modern & trashy.
It's also very expensive - I remember back on the mog station we could buy individual pieces but they changed it to get more money
It removes Miqo'te ears so I know hroth & viera sure as heck can't use it- but why would they, the ballcaps in ffxiv look gross but again, I detest all modern-like glams
Meh they’re okay lol half of me doesn’t want it and other half of me wants it lmao im still rocking Ameliance’s Level 5 custom delivery Appointed attire coffer top . Almost everyone rocking the streetwear outfits everywhere lmao
