*nods* It's not all inclusive; but, it's a start. You can do quite a bit with what is there.
If this is the beta version, I can't wait to see the completed feature.

I like them but (heh) I'm getting sick of having a low-poly butt stuck in my face when looking at some.
I'm confused why portraits are so seperated from the edit plate menu tho. Took me a few minutes.
Just as some feedback to the devs, the portraits and adventure plates are amazing, at least for me especially when it comes to RP and just general information like availability. I would like to ask them if it is possible to have the adventure plate image change according to the class/job you play if you have set the gear linking up on it.
For example I'd love to have a different image when playing as a paladin since I made a specific portrait for Paladin to use, sadly right now it is not possible to have multiple adventure plates like that. the simplest fix would probably be a toggle if you wanted a image or portrait you create be visible for all jobs when you do the adventure plate, or have an opt-in feature that you just change the image and not the background, frame, colours etc, of the plate. that way it will more reflect the role you are on.
I would like it to automatically switch my instant portrait to the one I linked my gearset to for pvp too, if I go to battle as a white mage I'd like my white mage portrait to be visible on the pvp/crystal conflict splash screen.
I want to say though, I am loving these features so so much and I am looking forward to more frames, backgrounds, accents and poses ^^
to add on, maybe we could also show portraits and details for our retainers? kinda like how the palicos are shown in the players guild cards in monster hunter series
maybe badges, something like what we have on steam now or we could show off our highest pvp rank
I wanna hide my face for comedic effect
like just showing a thumbs up in frame
I only have one feedback, which is not even truly related to the plate itself:
the plate displays our GC rank. This thing that hasn't been updated since...4.4!
Please revamp/update GC ranks. Now that PvP is good, you can even tie it to PvP and I wouldn't be mad.
Thanks.
If only the portraits would be displayed on more occasions than just CC matches.
I haven't spent a ton of time with the feature, but I do like it quite a bit. It's fun to have what amounts to a personalize-able little card in game and there's a lot of creativity I've seen from people a bit more familiar with the options/posing aspects -- and I think that's really neat.
More text to write in the field (possibly even separate from search info) would be nice, I imagine, to people in the RP side of things as I can see these being really useful ways to provide small blurbs about a character in-game. I'm sure there's other ideas that'd be good, too, but I kinda like that one since the search info always felt just slightly too short to me from time to time whenever I wanted to post my dumb BS.
Being able to see them in more pieces of content could be pretty cool -- the instant portraits, at least; though I assume that's already in the Devs' heads considering the instant portrait is only used for PvP currently and it's not called "PvP Portrait Display" or something similar.
But I really like the feature, a lot more than I figured I would to be honest.
Having made my own Adventure Plate and have been looking at other player’s Adventure Plates, overall I enjoy the new customization features Adventure Plates provide. There are some areas of feedback I have in regards to the current system:
Addressing the “elephant in the room” this piece of content has due to its user-generated nature, I believe only the most overt portrayals of indecency should be moderated. While content that is user-generated is not subject to the rating systems, overt portrayals of indecency without moderation could easily draw unwanted attention towards the game. This can be in the form of various media outlets to rating agencies that do consider the bounds of online interaction as part of their rating system, unlike the ESRB which does not do this. That being said, suggestive material where indecent elements are not the primary focus of the entire portrait should be allowable as this is already predefined in all rating systems.
On a less controversial note, I think expansion of which job actions can be used should be considered. Currently, abilities are currently restricted to PvP Limit Breaks. I would like to see perhaps some PvE related abilities make it into the system as this would expand customization options for jobs that do not have as photogenic options with their PvP Limit Breaks.
The last thing I would like to see would be the inclusion of minions into the system. This particular task is a bit of a tall order to fill, but I believe giving players the ability to make Adventure Plates around their favorite minions would be a nice addition to the system. Emotes supporting this system as well as toggles for targeting the minion inside of the plate and looking at the camera would have to be implemented, but this would allow for a large increase of player customization. Minions that have special actions should be able to express those actions when they are being set up inside of the plate via an action drop down menu. Minions that are also able to perch themselves on the player should also be allowed to do just that.
This is my current feedback to the beta system we have at the moment, and some of these ideas and recommendations are subject to change over time as the system evolves. There are several ideas on the forums that also I think should be added in as well, such as plates being used beyond currently PvP.
I didnt care for em at all - neat for ppl that do really, but after a friend already sent me some lewd ones... meh... i care even less.
This is just a strange argument imo, the game is rated T it's not for minors.
In order to partake in the online interactions to begin with you need to be playing the game, which again is rated T.
So why should the online interactions be treated as if they're rated E?
There's some example I've seen where I think it crosses the line and it kinda stops being what's intended to be in the game, like there's one where someone has dyed their DRG weapon in a skin-color and they're posing like it looks like they're uh pleasuring themselves.
It looks very believable I actually thought it was modded first, I can see in that scenario that it's going too far.
But most cases where I see people getting upset about this is just people wearing the 2B legs or swimwear etc...
Even if the butt is in the focus or whatever it's still ingame content that hasn't been altered to intentionally depict nudity and you see it in places like Limsa...
The rating thing and talking about minors etc tho, it honestly just always feels to me like people get upset by it themselves and then they use minors as an argument and shield to try and get content removed.
Minors aren't allowed to play the game which also means that they're not allowed to partake in the online interactions.
I dunno if I'd label this '' online interactions '' either it's not like people ERP:ing or whatever this is just their glams and a pose.
Again you can see this in Limsa or wherever, and the game is full of sexual violence in the story and sex jokes.
I just think it's a silly argument about the rating.
If we're talking about the example I gave with the DRG tho, then I think we're entering a territory where it's actually depicting pornography to such an extent where I think '' personal taste '' just flies out the window.
A character showing their butt in underwear tho isn't pornography and it's not depicting nudity.
And since that's the main thing I see people getting upset about I have a hard time taking it seriously.
I think what I said might be a bit broad for those seeking to change the argument so I will clarify to be more specific as well as what would be considered an abuse of the system and what is not an abuse of the system based on current moderation in the game:
Something that would not be an abuse of the system would be where revealing pieces (such as a bikini top with 2B bottoms for female characters or for male characters say a speedo of some form) are used but there is not complete emphasis on the revealing nature of the piece(s) in question and does not have any pornographic connotation based on other elements in the image. This is a normal form of player expression that in no way is an issue for in-game interactions between players and material associated to that player.
An example of material that would be an abuse of the system would deal with say a Miqo'te Female using 2B bottoms and using the pose emote, orienting the character in such a way as to have the characters "assets" on full display and in focus of the image. These images, along with depictions of pornographic elements, would fall in violation of the system as these subject unwilling players to these images unwarranted and unsolicited thanks to other systems already in the game (such as CC loading screen or being able to examine adventure plates).
Using the straw-man of "The game depicts x, y, and z, therefore it is ok if I depict x, y, and z" is not the same thing. The game elements created by the developers, not what users of the game come up with, are subject to the rating system thus there is a level of understanding that the player knows what the content of the game is based on the elements described in the rating from the developers to the player.
This is not the same as a player being given access to a creation tool from the developers to create something that interacts with other players. The assets being created from this creation tool are made by players to interact with other players. It is no different than people having inappropriate search comments and names, as these too are player assets being created using a tool provided by the developers, albeit considerably more rudimentary.
Player characters in Limsa I know will be argued if I dont bring it up. Unless the character is interacting with you in a way that you consider harassing behavior (emote spam, inappropriate usage of emotes, etc), then everything is all good. This is due to the fact that a character standing around in revealing clothing is not inherently an issue as i have described this is a proper form of expression. It is the abuse of this expression in combination with other game elements and you are being subjected to it unwillingly is where there are issues.
Hopefully this clarifies some of the confusion
My feedback is that the "search info" should be merged with Adv Plate seems more fitting!
It's a great feature, and there's so many ways they could improve and expand on it that it's hard to name them all.
Besides just more appearance options and portrait slots which are a given, some things I'd like to see:
- More control over the information on the plate (e.g. being able to hide some of the currently displayed information, and choices for other things to display instead e.g. job levels, mount/minion/card collections, favourite mount/minion/orchestrion roll, top 3-5 jobs, etc, etc)
- Being able to save multiple plate setups and switch between them automatically with gearset links
- Portraits showing up in more content (maybe optionally)
- More possible poses for portraits including job actions, or at least the battle stance/victory pose emotes
As for problems, there's a lot of bugs with portrait creation which I guess is to be expected as a beta version. As most have discovered the face detection requirement is pretty wonky and it's not that hard to make a portrait where the character's face is not visible at all. An understandable restriction but still a bit of a shame for me who just wanted to make some cool ones. I'm also curious to see if and how the blatantly erotic portraits might be moderated.
I'm also not sure if portraits being automatically unlinked when the associated gearset is updated is meant to be the final design of that feature, because it's really annoying. It'd be much nicer if updating a gearset could also simply update the associated portrait. And even that's only because the current portrait system can't save a gear appearance for more than one portrait. Ideally every portrait would simply show the gear you were wearing when it was saved, or could optionally be set to always reflect your current appearance.
Yeah, this is one I'd like as well. It really feels like there's a lot of dead space on the card at the moment. While I don't want the cards to end up a cluttered mess it does feel like the space isn't necessarily being used as well as it could be. And the idea of forcing specific content on the card just feels weird, specifically the play time part. That is probably the one element that people seem to feel least comfortable displaying about themselves and yet it not only is a required feature (though one can just opt to leave it empty) but it takes up a lot of space on the card. It would be nice if we could just turn that part off and replace it with something we did want to show. I personally don't really get why they figured that was something that needed to be there in the first place.
Of course, I could understand if they did want to ensure each card was following the same essential template with the same information on it to keep things consistent (and to maintain something that was easy to maintain and test on the back end). So, yeah, I'd be happy if they just dumped the weird play times section altogether in favour of something more universally liked and wanted.
There's a lot of bugs related to saving them. I can save 1 portrait but when I copy or use it, it won't portray accurately. Sometimes, it wont display weapon glows either. Very common problem when you change the field of view slider.
Overall it's a clunky system to interact with, especially the Instant Portraits requiring precisely identical gearsets, even breaking if you change your headgear visibility.
Frames, accents/emblems/stickers, backgrounds need a lot more content too. Wider range of motion for the camera would be nice also. Most of the accents/stickers are ugly, too large, and can't be manipulated. I'd at least like to resize them. The Umbra/Astra emblems are good examples that take up like half the portrait and are almost unusable.
I would also like to select specific values by typing and not using a slider.
As for "erotic" portraits, I really don't care. I believe a lot of people are just making them to be funny and they'll get less popular over time. If it's really a problem, and I seriously doubt it is, then just make it optional to make portraits appear as Default on your client for Crystal Conflict, since they're not used anywhere else.
I love it and try to look at everyone's. I'm just said my middie can't bend over like other races.
He went off in a weird spot but it is true to an extent, more than anything else we still do need more repeatable battle content and it sucks that we have to wait for a relic series to even having horizontal content to unwind with.
I just don't want more dungeons to clutter the roulette, I want a system for actual challenging dungeons. I'm hoping these Criterion ones starting in 6.2 are interesting.
I think it's part of the reason PvP is popping off so hard, I mean in addition to the fact that it's some of the best MMO PvP I've seen: it's one of the only bits of FFXIV that offers pure, repeatable gameplay with nothing to bar your path. A lot of us really want to play more, to fight more, I've been around since XI but I'll never do much social, I'm just here for battle gameplay and story.
Yeah, repeatable battle content with meaning. A dungeon for the sake of a quota is not that. You do it once, enjoy it then you speed and blitz through it afterward for roulettes. This also completely ignores Criterion dungeons which if done correctly has the potential of this addressing this very issue. I can tell you with almost certainly had the developers maintained the dungeon quota then we more than likely would be seeing a loss of Criterion Dungeons than we would with seeing the loss of an Adventurer Plate, so to put it. The latter is something a UI team would focus on. Nor would we have seen a large-scale raid in Delubrum Reginae, really. So in reality the point stands.
Not that I disagree but some people have a strange notion of where the content cuts are more than likely going.
They were looking for battle designers, and I like what they did to Prae, really. If they can continue good battle design at higher levels it will be nice. Quality over quantity.
The new PvP has turned out excellent. Really good.
Adventure plates are fun, fun.
The changes to RMT housing seem to have worked, they've gone in a tiny bit hard on ratio although they can loosen it.
20 glam plates can't be over looked
Ticks on things you already have
It's been a great patch all-in-all
It would be appreciated if my current glam was not imposed onto the portrait every time I edit it, I'm just trying to adjust the angle or lighting, I'm not attempting to re-do the glam being displayed.
Beyond that, I'd very much like it if it didn't care about the gear on my gear set. When I'm on X job, apply this instant portrait that I specify. I do not want to have to redo the gear-set-link every time I switch to one of my three glam plates for this single job.
In fact, I'd like to be able to apply a single instant portrait to multiple jobs/gear sets and still not care about the actual gear being shown. <This> instant portrait I created works for several jobs, just apply it. It's okay if the gear is different, just apply it anyway.
Stop breaking the link over such small things, please. It'd be vastly more preferable if the instant portrait link simply would not un-link itself at all. If it turns out something looks different than what I intended, I'll happily make the adjustment myself.
Is there a way to prevent the instant portrait from resetting every time you change a job in PvP?
I don't like that it replaces the search info.
There is far less information on those than before. I for one don't care when your available times are. Why would I, I'm playing with you right now and unless we friend, we'll most likely never meet again.
I do however care what other classes you could possibly play. That info however, is gone.
The pictures are nice though, I like that.
Mostly I'd just like all collected emotes to be available. Every emote I wanted to use for my portrait isn't one I can use.
Can we please get Adventure Plates to localize for Time Zone? Because when I look at an Adventure plate I have no idea if it's in my time zone or not
The idea is cool! I've seen some really cool or downright funny ones. I just dislike the "questionable" poses people make use of if you get what I mean.
The adventurer plates is a great addition to the game. I really enjoyed playing with the G-pose tool like in order to customise as much as possible the card.
However...
I'd like to request a "report button" on adventurer plate, because i've seen many abuse of people just showing their butt in those 2B Leggings... or doing some almost "explicit" image on those by using the "mogs" to hide some part of the body.
I like to look at other's adventurer plate, but I literraly see a butt every 30 seconds.... This is breaking the system and will sooner or later backfire on the community on the internet by saying that FFXIV player are just doing ERP all the time.
I ran hundreds of CC matches over the course of a few days. Only 2 stood out to me as suggestive. I don't doubt that players are doing it, but I sincerely doubt it's as bad as you claim. Either way it doesn't bother me, within reason. I'm sure there are a few people out there who take it a step too far, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were reported. Heck, Zepla released a video today talking about adventure plates. She got a laugh out of a couple of them, and I'm sure she was far from alone, but they were both definitely...inappropriate by most standards. I wouldn't have cared, but it's not hard to see why some do. But I also doubt that it's a huge problem overall.
