the lesson learned? the EU prefers a more congested environment for playing.

I didnt accuse you of saying it. I was responding to OP who literally said it was karma for players who chose high congestion worlds. Thats why I quoted them in my response.

I'm tired of this.

The first few days it was ok, but I can't sit in a 4000-6000 queue every day.

I am a new player and I joined the server that the game recommended me. Now I can't access it without waiting hours on end.

Man, even though I love Endwalker I really think that the super long queue times really detract from the experience, normally I log in during the early morning but god forbid I disconnect because even a 900 person queue will take at least 30-50 minutes

Especially since I'm one of those people who only has 1 viable option for internet, and that viable option has no incentive to provide good service since they are after all, a monopoly, so if I disconnect, even if I wake up early and log on and stay logged on, I end up having to wait anyways.

And this is from someone who is actually able to play regularly, nevermind the people having even more ridiculous problems logging in

Now imagine being on EU where the queues range from 7000-10000+ every day. Combined with 90k errors. *chefs kiss*. Either you log in before 2pm or you ain't playing. If you get disconnected your gameplay for the day is also done.

publisher =/= devs. YoshiP has been pretty damn transparent in what the cause of these issues are. It cant even be said that players are white knighting for the devs, foolish to claim "cult following" to any degree in this situation. Its literally just people being ignorant of information being put out by the devs.

They'll probably give out another week of free time soon; not sure if they'll go farther than that, but I think the dev team is well aware of the problems and are doing what they can.

I would like to point out, not everyone knew or goes looking for the population of a server before starting an MMO, I started on Excalibur, I didn't know, and even now don't know the pop of my server, I assume it must be kinda big mostly cause the current queue times. lol do i wish i were on a lower pop server, yes and no, on one hand better queue times, but on the other hand, I do pretty well-selling glamours on Excalibur...plus, I'd hate to have to start my FC again, we just now got to level 8.

I'm on Famfrit. Famfrit is not a hugely overpopulated server, and its still getting hit with 4k queues.

Secondly, is it "karma" for wanting to play on a populated, active server in a massively multiplayer online role-playing game? Half the point of an MMO is the social aspect of it, which is greatly diminished on lower populated and empty servers.

Well as a new player still trying to get into the game and find a class I gel with, this launch has been detrimental to my playing time to say the least. After a week of not being able to play I cancelled my subscription, which is a shame because I like the game, but I don't have time to wait in monster queues :( Maybe I'll be back when this gets fixed.

the queues will not get fixed until people stop trying to play. the errors,, those might get fixed, hard to say if they can track them down.

but as with any expansion, in ANY game, usually more people want to play than there is space for...hence, login queues.

I tend to drift towards melee types, but I admit that after first trying Ninja, and then samurai, and finally dragoon to 50, I've been overwhelmed by the sheer number of abilities each class has. I was hoping with more practice I would be ok, but well, queue times happened.

ahh yes, the old start at this level, here are a bunch of abilities...good luck, I feel that. The best way I have found to learn a new class from the bottom up is to run the palace of the dead, which starts at level 1 and lets you learn the class ability by ability until level 60. from there i think heaven on high could work for the next 20 levels or so, though i can't be sure as I have yet to unlock it. its how i've been learning sage and reaper, Though sage is the priority, I tend to heal more than anything lol

Seriously? I've been here since 2013, unless they want start handing out free server moves for my FC this is completely a ridiculous statement man. Also, being you JUST started in 2021, are you former WoW refugee? Because that sounds like a statement a WoW refugee would make and before you go there, I've played WoW too, on and off and for a long time now, I've not looked back.

I mean it is not so clear cut. I would also say no refund for the game but for sure time..
The expansion was the price of a full game which if i recall was $80 for me plus on top of that the sub amount and premise of early access which really has not been a thing.
I have been able to get on 3 times total since "early access"
Really undecided but thinking strongly of unsubbing for a bit, no sense of paying for something cannot even play.

Past expansions we also had issues just not as severe as now, there comes a time where not everything is because of Covid.

can probably blame WoW for the price of an expansion being the price of a full game. they have charged full game price forever, so became the norm. myself, no need to unsub, havent had many errors after the first morning of EA when I tried foolishly to log in when it came up. first time I ever saw that error so did what I saw to do online, and only had a few times since. yes, still get stuck in queues if its later in the day, but have gotten lots of play time in.

Fellow newbie here! I definitely feel where you are coming from. I am a full-time worker that starts in the morning and ends in the evening, so time is a scarce resource for me. If you do have the time in your schedule to try logging in somewhere after 11 PM EST or honestly any time before 12 PM EST, you should have much better luck with the queue times. I was also kind of in that place of frustration where you have barely experienced the game yet and can't really even access it with all of this commotion going on. It is definitely worth trying out again at a less tumultuous time, and I hope you get to find the best class to enjoy yourself with when you return! :)

There was a article the other day on N4G that SE was the only company to bring up prices of games on PC, which is obviously happening on console now also.

excal is the smallest NA server and we still have these cue times lmao

We called this happening MONTHS AGO. As complicated as you want to make your operation look like, even with the tiring excuse of covid, and meteor rains, and transistor shortages. This could have been prevented, if not at least, handled much better than this.

Anyway.

This issues just come to proof that there is no direct relationship between profits and service quality. None at all.

^This. Specially after all the money they made with the Lunar Whale and the long time requested Cruise Chaser that was stuffed into the Mogstation they should have more than enough money to buy an entire new USA Data center.

Considering the needed equipment isn't even available for purchase and they've been trying... Yeah, sure mate.

And they called this happening months ago. We've been given notice well in advance that it was going to be rocky. They literally can't get the needed hardware to improve things.

You know that they are launching an Oceanic Datacenter right? Current launch date for that is February 2022. So it is not like they didn't fund a new datacenter. Also, they did try to get even more servers, but could not due to the chip shortage.

Uhh what? You do know it isn't about the price right? It is about the availability. Think of it as a GPU or a PS5 or an Xbox Series X. There are just not enough to go around. You also know that next years shortage is actually going to be worse right? That's why TSMC and Sony are making a brand new chip factory in Japan. Construction starts 2022 and will be completed 2024. So yeah people need to get it through there heads that this chip shortage is just the beginning and next year is going to be even more insane in terms of prices going up and stock levels being even lower then they have been.

I bought a Monk boost to 80 to surprise my husband. I've always hated the Monk class due to the required positions. I decided I would make it my main melee class instead of going for the flavor of the month club Reaper. I used the boost 9 hours ago...haven't been able to play since then. I'm currently waiting in another queue right now hoping that I don't get another 2002 error.
