the hp materia is more useful to mages hen the mp materia.

my guess, those materias can only be produced from those ex/rare gear/materia listed on there.
in its current state yes it is. of course +60 hp is more important than +30 mp. +60 mp would be more important than +60 hp though. it would be to me anyways. extra mp is less often convert is needed and a few extra spells you can cast. mp is better for being able to take more damage and a higher amount when you convert so they both have usage.
The new materia looks... ok.. I guess, whatever
We are all missing the BIG PICTURE here...
Materia request in the bazaar completely opens things up...
It has the potential to be a game changer, as it opens up the possibility for:
1. Unique/Untradeable (U/U) gear to be meldable. It's unlikely... but its now possible. I know it was technically possible before, but it would have excluded anyone who didn't have the job to attach the materia... U/U gear could be limited to 1 materia only... OR U/U gear could be limited to special materia only, i.e. No materia will meld on an Ifrit weapon except Phoenix dropping a materia that can ONLY go on an Ifrit weapon
2. U/U materia... some epic tank materia made only from Heavy Darklight Gear. Obviously not when the gear is new... but at, say 2.0, when there is tons of new content... that would be a reason for many new and returning players to go back and do the Chimera and Miser's Mistress. I know, these dungeons might not even be available at 2.0, but you get the point of the example. Once gear becomes outdated it could produce decent U/U materia, further prolonging that content
3. U/U catalyst - pretty self explanatory. Instead of dropping Materia... Phoenix drops a special catalyst that makes Ifrit weapons 1-slot meldable, or is needed for some rare materia
Or maybe none of that will happen... who knows... but it's possible... and that has me excited
Jinko, I wouldn't mind if there was only 1 materia slot either, or at the most 2
and instead the actual materia was adjusted for balance...
Now I just want to see materia that changes either the name or the look of a piece of gear. I know it probably wont happen... call me crazy but I think it would be cool
Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufdlO...layer_embedded
On Topic: Sadly most of these new materia suck. The best thing out of this is the Enmity ups and the fact you can materia meld through your bazaar like repairs.
Bah right after I spent about 200k paying various people to put materia in gear.
Aye ... the critical bonus materia additions are going to make for some ridiculous damage.
and at least the waist slot isn't almost completely useless any more.
i just wish materia reform involved scaling back on the number of different variety's of materia and going with a nq hq system. Adding more materia seems like the opposite of reform.
I will be the first to laugh hillariously when someone converts a Ifrit/Moogle weapon to get a crap materia. The tears sustain me!
YOU OBTAINED A STRENGTH II MATERIA.

Im sorry but I will not ever ever turn my ifrit, moogle or any other primal fight weapons into materia. It took too long and is not something I want to do again. The new materia well all I can say is LOL. Darklight gear (if I ever get any) I wouldnt turn into materia either, for the same reasons as the primals.
Everyone dose realize you can in fact have up to 3 of the same Primal Weapon right? Its actually realy simple. obtain weapon #1 put it on retainer #1 . Obtain weapon #2 , put it on retainer #2 , and just like that you can hold a 3rd of the same primal weapon, lets not forget totems stack to 99
Cant say I am understanding the delema here. If you get a secondary drop, or you have enough totems to get a secondary weapon, soo long as there is no chance of shit materia, why not pop your extras?
As far as the materia its self, I think people are not looking at the bigger picture here. Sure for healers their AF may be better for some situations, but as far as MP and magic healing potency , as a PLD , that sure as shit beats eva, or magic eva. same gose for block rate over dext. Soo QQ all you want , but the new materia is actually good alts for what we have now, especially if you double/triple stack III or IV
All you really need to do is... IF you're planning to do ifrit/moogle weapons at any point.
- Give the weapon to retainer
- Go do ifrit/moogle and try to get our favorite DUPE (watch now when you want dupe it's not going to happen...lol)
- Make it into materia
- /cry or /happy
- repeat
Or you could put the weapon in bazzar for repair, if you get a dup it will drop In to your intentory or you can do both. At the moment I have a few of the same weapons.
right? I think most of the complaints are from emo players or people who are butt hurt that they joined a LS that dont help em with the fight soo it is taking them forever to get a drop much less a dupe. fact is, Ifrit at this point, is on farm mode. and I am pretty sure they droping the cost to turn in primal coin for weapon. If you dont want to blow up your primal stuff then dont, but if your like some who have duplicates and its simply just taking up space , then this offers a bit of a solution. Its not dumb just because it dosent apply to you, honestly maybe its the other way around :p
>< realy, while we are add it, auto reraise, auto regen, mp drain, and hp drain materia. Fuck it I want to make lvl 50 gear that makes me god like... oh wait they did that in XI and soon after the game became terminal.... maybe you shouldnt take that advice SE -.-
Not to get into this but that is not what shot XI in the foot. If anything it probably helped the game live a little longer. Godmode materia allows for fights to be a LOT harder, and a LOT more difficult. Final Fantasy fans love stupidly powerful bosses. There's a reason why Square included mega boss fights in its console games (optional), because we love doing them. Making players more powerful means you can make bosses more powerful, which is very thrilling for most of us.
Do you know how much i'd love to be decked out and face something that could still kick my ass? It makes that accomplishment of defeating it THAT much sweeter. If you keep the players relatively weak then there becomes little point in trying to become powerful at all. You have a low ceiling, and even if you hit it the content is still the same old difficulty. It stagnates the game more than anything else. Powerful materia are a very very very good thing.
Expanding development options

Guess devs/mods didn't like my criticism, could have been nicer about it I guess but oh well, not like it matters anyway.

That would be awesome...lol
On a side note thou, the forums temp bans builds up in time,
the more bans you get the longer the bans become. (Speaking from exsperience)
So please, do try stay to topic in a friendly manner.

Awesome... but I don't see converting Ifrit/Mog weapons to materia just yet. And the only gripe I have about melding is the fact that you lose the equipment if the meld fails.. Rather not lose HQ items due to a failed double meld attempt.
really , I didnt ready this entire post but really? If you have all the Ifrit weapons, and you dont use them ALL, put them on your retainer, and God forbid you go and help somebody, maybe a friend get some of the weapons they need.. And there drops a duplicate you already have on your retainer (soon the be The Armoire, great idea) Why not let me at least break it down for a piece of materia instead of just discarding it.. the only ppl I see complaining about this is those whom dont have ALL the weapons.. and to you that dont, this will give the ppl that do, a reason to help you agine.. it's a total win win if ya ask me
It is indeed SE. In FFXI when they reduced the kill count from 100 mobs > 50 mobs while making each mob count as 5 regardless of weather present or not for magian trials, it worked retroactively and when I had 72 kills done I was already done due to this change.
Same company.

* The attributes of materia already existing in-game will automatically change to reflect the above following release of patch 1.22.
Hello everyone!
We just wanted to pop in and confirm two things, since there were a few questions on them.
Any already melded materia, including double melded materia, that have adjustments to their values (Touch of Rage, Touch of Serenity) will be updated after patch 1.22. Your materia won’t be “dated” and retain the old values or anything. :)
There was also someone wondering if the new types of materia would be available to be purchased via the Guild Mark exchange, but no, there aren’t any plans to have them added to that list.
Please continue to pass along your feedback!
Quick question for you Devs... with Enmity be adjusted on gear such as PLD AF and Sent. gear to Compete with the changes to Enmity Materia?
of all the things to answer you pick them two, /sigh. How about answering why we are getting more variety's of inventory killer and not NQ and HQ versions or combing some resist materia like the leg combos to lessen the amount. or give us a separate storage for them like shards and crystals.
Grudge, I dont think it Will. As far as competing with other gear, PLD af needs more then enmity to be honest. I for one love tanking on PLD but I can not say that the stats its AF gives realy supports its style of tanking. The ability enhancements are ok, but it dosent make up for the lack of DEF or VIT. And to be completly fair, hate controll realy wasnt an issue to begin with, just alot of WAR fan boys QQ about a job they obviously never play. I only ever had +8 enmity on my belt as a PLD and I keep hate just fine. the gear makes a differance but if the player is ignorant to the job then all the gear in the world wont make a lick of differance.
