How about Gaia's Time Mage, hammer wielding job? Timed combat mechanics sounds like it could be fun.
Necromancer does not in any way fufill the same class fantasy smn does. Mechanically? Sure. Dots and pets, but carbuncles and egis aren't animated corpses. Necromancers are always dark and usually sinister. SMNs (in this game) are calculating and spectacular. The control over our summons comes from skill and magical finesse, not domination.
Now that they're available to replay in NewGame+ it's a good time to encourage you (and really anyone else) to replay the Conjurer quests. The entire basis of the class is that they pull the energy from the earth to cast elemental spells and heal, and the elements they use are exactly the elements that the geomancer uses in the astrologian quest. So the problem for geomancer right now is that, like with other jobs, it steps on the toes of other job identities, like how even though we saw a berserker in the new dungeon, we probably won't ever get one because that's just an central aspect of the warrior job identity.
Which leads me to the point of necromancer... the job has only ever been in one game. Final Fantasy V, and to that end was basically an undead blue mage - black mage hybrid. This could go either way. It could be an opportunity for Square to decide what they want the job to be, but my opinion, it's more likely they just don't add it due to the cultural implications in some regions as well as the only identity it does have is already in the game on a limited job.
Apothecary I'm hoping was a legit tease, but as always I'm waiting till I have something more firm in the game or from the developers. Though I will say this is a better tease than geomancer was considering I don't put too much stock into what enemy types exist, and geomancer existing only in the, at the time, highest level job quests isn't a great place for a teaser since unlike with this tease, not ever player would have interacted with it.
Astros already have the time mage stuff covered. Though that's been getting stripped from their identity. Go to Central Coerthas and the astrologians in the observatory there are even dressed as classic time mages (purple robes and sugarloaf hats with stars on them) So it's a problem again that time mage alone doesn't have enough of an identity to stand alone as a job in this game. It would have to have something else to it beyond time manipulation to make it work in the strict tank-healer-DPS meta of the game, and it would have to do so without taking from the identity of astrologian.
So are we just gonna ignore the fact that we would never be getting another stone or aero animation? Or any water? I’m just gonna stop the VerAero and ninjitsu talk before it starts as well.
Also there is loads more Geomancer information than these max level quests you talked about. There’s a whole dungeon centered around them, their god is a trial in the game, one founded Doma, they are still adding things as well speak to the game in regards to them. They even opened a new Geomancy school in Kugane as of 5.0. They’ve been brought up in AST quests, a dungeon, a trial, talked about in Orbonne. Multiple mounts created through them. The school has opened. Not even mentioned the original datamined files of them being the dps counterpart to white mage like summoner is to scholar. There is just too much of a NAMED Final Fantasy class over the pass 3 years for them to not do something with it.
I agree it would step on toes of conjurer, no longer white mage, if it was to be a healer. But as a caster it wouldn’t.
Also with Yoshi’s talk of the removal the the archaic starter classes there is even less of a problem. They have started pruning ARR content it’s not like that won’t be coming at some point soon.
You can't really expect much more than placeholder things from jobs like that inkmage, They aren't going to reveal new animations for an upcoming in development expansion. As too the Astrologian's in Coerthas, they are such in name only since they don't actually use Astromancy and a more just astronomers. 6.0 Will also likely see the end of classes and move to just jobs, as well a nother culling of skills to reduce bloat as 10 new lvls get added. This will probably leave a lot of room for other class identities to exist.
People are jumping a bit too quick to "stepping on toes" when it comes to jobs. Most jobs aren't stepping on any toes. None of the jobs brought up this patch are the same as what we currently have (barring Ink Mage which is rather clearly just Arcanist), and would easily fit into this game in multiple roles.
And I'm not sure how likely it is for them to strip classes from the game. It's certainly theoretically possible, but I believe they've had issues with doing that previously. It would certainly allow them to refluff jobs some without issue, which they're already doing with skill changes.
first often job in are called different name in different world first off we have berserk his name Raubraun notice the two sword he orignal had strap to his side why was called the bull because he charge into battle. berserk are know to going blood rage and fight only to be stop by death it self. second that guy at end look like he weild a great sword not a big hammer. do i think they going add chemist no. i been suggest add medic which would use ideal for chemist and use a dog in tribute to ffviii also it give a new healer job which mix potion and give se time improve pet jobs mechinac which need work. finally nermancer i have not heard any suggest the yoshi p want add nermancers
it could be these jobs are for another shard unlike the first or source that we may find in few expansion yet come
Although jobs are called different things in different worlds I wouldn't really call Raubahn a Berserker. As far as weapons go the way the Berserker fought could easily be translated to a hammer without much issue.
I don't see us getting another pet healer job, especially as there isn't really any reason to expect a dog. While it's possible they could reference VIII Rinoa was not a healer really. You'd have more luck pitching Medic using a number of other things as evidence, but realistically whatever it does would just be like Chemist anyways, and Chemist is far more iconic.
As for Necromancer there... really isn't any evidence that he wants to add Medics yet you're throwing that out as a thing. You can't attempt to debunk Necromancer on that basis without debunking Medic. With regards to whether Yoshida would want to add Necromancer we have no idea, I'm not sure if there are any interviews on the matter.
first off medic is suggest of mine because the ideal you can't have alchemist and chemist so have medic as job the been add because defector Garlens empire who has no way really treat illness because aether. second nermancer magic is frown on and drive the elemental crazy see white mage quest. finally berserker which Raubraun is one take look quest series lead to heavenward the party notice how Raubruan goes stir crazy made at end goes into blood rage this one example of a berserker
another point is Ul'dah sister city state was nermancer city i think it was destroy too
why have pet job ie Medic because SE need to tried improve pet jobs my suggest is tribute to FFviii dog angelo and to military dogs and they handlers. have job called Medic use simality concept to chemist use dog to resceue and gather rource for medic to use is a good ideal for theme Chemist or medic. have the dog able drag body to healer to raise which very different for recue ability or have ability gather root or herbs with the dogs nose be as amaze as it is in really life also is plus.
Or we can have Apothecary. Or Salve-Maker. Or a bunch of other things that basically mean "Chemist". And whatever we get will, again, be a DoM, because that's what the Healer role is. So a Garlean defector or whatever is kind of a moot story point.
Necromancy is frowned upon, sure. And? Summoning is frowned upon yet we still managed to have Summoner as a job. Not really sure what part of White Mage you're referencing but all that would mean is... you know, you don't get it from Gridania.
And I'm not sure what point you're trying to make with Raubahn. People getting angry = Berserker can't be a job? Weird.
As for your proposal for Medic it still isn't really a sensible suggestion. Again, SE already has a pet healer, there isn't really any reason to toss out a second one, especially when they have lessened how much the Fairy does. While I won't say there is anything wrong with it conceptually it really doesn't have much in line with FF, covers the mechanical identity of Scholar some (in terms of both being pet healers), and doesn't really sound all that magical (though I suppose you could do something borderline Herbalist/Botanist from EO).
we also have alchemis which is crafting profession
and if we take off al we got chemist see my point. it can be confused. plus Medic make sense becauase medic are on battle in really life. also make another pet job is a way to improve and challenge SE to make better all the pet jobs. SE has admit they have issue with current ie Summoner for example even Scholar need work. make a second pet job give them time work on all the pet job and improve they mechanics it also a chance to challenge themselves to become better with pet jobs. it maybe at same time the limit job i hope beastmaster is be roll out for the playerbase to play. the only way SE will every become better with pet job is if they keep tried improve them and work on them to make better
blood rage very different then get anger what toke stop him was him lose his arms see my point a berserker need be stop only by some life threat like lost of an arm. and in those event he didn't just get anger he went berserk with anger and was see ried there difference
There's a lot of interesting things that could be done with a 'chemist' or 'apothecary' job. I'd love to see a healer implemented along those lines.
I would kill for that Berserker class.
How long ago did he suggest that, and has it ever been brought up again since?
Was it even a "we're planning this" or just a wishful "I'd like to do this [but haven't worked out if we can]"?
People keep bringing it up but it's not something regularly/recently touched on as far as I'm aware, and it would make a mess of all the class quests and initial transfer to jobs.
Disagree about what? The Chinese WoW game experience is very different from the rest of the world. No Corpses or Bones are shown anywhere in the world. Where you would normally see bones/piles of bones/corpses they get to see stuff like bags of grain. Even the Undead race are altered so that they aren't seen as corpses walking around. xxvaynexx is right.
It was around the same time he was starting to get asked about the pruning of the ARR content. The interview centered on the pruning, the new jobs not having to go through the slog that is starter classes. And how he felt locked by the system that 1.0 had them trapped in for awhile when it came to classes.
But sadly it's been years and I don't have my Yoshi P spreadsheet open on excel with time stamps. (God I wish it would make stuff like this so easy.) I wanna say it's from the beginning of Stormblood though? Because it came up because of RDM/SAM not needing starter classes. Since now it was a trend and not a one off thing from Heavensward about not needing them.
I'm down if 6.0 adds:
Chemist as a healer
and Necromancer as a DPS and give it Undead a 2-minute cooldown skill where all their attacks have increased potency for 10 seconds but cannot be healed for 10 seconds. it would be interesting to see if they make a questline that intertwines with DRK because of the use of Dark Arts
People asked why the new jobs don’t require them. He said he didn’t like that they forced the older jobs to have them as a carryover from 1.0 and said he would like to remove the starter classes.
I’m not a Yoshi P expert or have the whole interview memorized. I would try googling it possibly though.
After the outcry during 5.0 not getting a healer job, it's most likely going to happen. But they really need to fix both Healers and Tanks. I feel they are too watered and generic to really have a difference from one to the other.
The thing with healer imbalance is that the whole regen vs shield thing is stupid. Especially now that all of the healers have some kind of shield to use to mitigate tank busters. The ideas behind the 3 healers is alright, but that's the problem. What can they do that's different?
Yes all 3 healers have under-the-hood issues, but from a general standpoint they heal ether by raw healing output or mitigating damage through temporary HP via shields. The only thing that separates them is their utilitarian effects: Sch has it's heal turret-I mean Fairy, whm has a bunch of free panic button heals and the highest dps overall, and ast has its cards to increase dps.
I proposed the idea of something like a shaman that focuses on aura effects through the use of totem/zodiac/spirit critters. It would naturally have the basic healer kit, but it's main draw would be the wide array of utility auras that it would place down. Such as one marking an ally to radiate a regen aura or marking an enemy with vulnerability down but it radiates a vulnerability up effect to all enemies around it. Things like that.
Yeah SE needs to get out of the shielding vs regen dichotomy for defining their healers. Like DPS designs aren't being stagnated because they can either be a dot class or a direct damage class. Healers need to be differentiated by interesting skill mechanics and gauge interaction like every other role is.
Well the healers community is complex yet simple at the same time. You have a camp that doesn't want to DPS and one that does. One that wants to heal yet wants to be business when not. The fair compromise is to redesign Healer into a Healer/Support role. When not healing it is buffing and debuffing to help the raid DPS. As for healing there is three different styles; Direct Heals, Damage Mitigation, and Health Over Time. 2.XX worked well because WHM and SCH complemented each other. AST tossed a wrench in the gears because SE wanted it's toes in both Shield and HoT, mistake in my opinion. How you toss fourth healing in the mix makes it even hard. Maybe divide it into two categories; Direct Heal + Shield and Direct Heal + HoT. Keep the DPS skills as is but add a Tank Pet for solo play.
But more importantly is every job needs to play different from one another.
Can see White Mage as your basic direct spell cast with classic raid utility like Berserk, Haste, Protect, Slow, so on. Scholar could be stance dancing. Chemist would mix different potion together for different effect. AST would have the old card system but retooled to buff Roles rather than blanket stats. I would go more in depth in concept but trying to keep post light.
Good thing we aren’t playing a Blizzard game then. They aren’t gonna make Necromancer a good guy in this game. :)
Every class introduced to this game has been done from a good guy or benevolent standpoint in SOME way. This is what.... our third Necromancer we’ve had to kill because they are evil?
This isn’t some edgy game, at the end of the day it’s a Final Fantasy.
If Beastmaster were to become a limited class, this is what I would like to see:
• Pet summoning class that allows your pet to tank.
• Exclusive outdoor map for Blue Mages and Beastmasters.
• Populated with monsters that Beastmasters can use to add to their collection of summonable monsters and for Blue Mages to learn abilities from.
• BIGGEST BENEFIT: Beastmasters can track down hunt targets from older expansions on this special map, this would allow players a way to gain achievement progress on S and A Rank hunts that are impossible to get these days due to the fact that they are destroyed so quickly on public maps.
We've had a few Necromancers we've fought yes but not all of them were evil. In fact none of them were outright evil.
Alaqa was the first necromancer themed npc we met and she was the king pin behind the HW WHM job quests. It was elaborated on that she wanted vengeance for the abuse her and her family suffered. She is more misguided than evil since she is shown willing to atone for her wrongdoings after her efforts are thwarted and she is freed from the veil of the blinding desire for revenge.
Nybeth and Edda are sort of along the same lines. The main difference is that Edda had just ran herself to insanity in her despair after Avere's death while Nybeth became consumed by his desire to revive his deceased lover and let his grasp on reality slip and spiraled out of control.
Lastly we have the Spectral Necromancer from the Gauntlet. She is first and foremost some type of WoL given by the fact she is even there. The most vile thing to her is calling her zombies her servants. From the angle she is given I choose to think that her zombies in the fight are ether the corpses of her fallen allies or the corpses of the Voeburt kingdom since her fight takes place in ill mheg. She is very much an example of "ends justify the means" but if the corpses are her fallen allies I find it a touch poetic that she leads them to continue their battle against the dark even after death.
I believe peopel way to overthink this, remember people goten hyped for Geomancer? AST quest?
Is Alaqa still using her necromancy or is she a cnj in training with Sylphie and the little Padjal, the latter and I highly suspect that if she touches necromancy again she will be arrested quickly.
Nybeth - Padjali says "How can deeds so horrendous come from such a erstwhile place" , this isn't saying he was motivated by evil intentions but his actions were.
With these two alone Gridania appauls the use of necromancy.
Next have Hildabrand HW edition, Gigi says he'll bring back Quan and Cer goes without hesitation "I don't need to look in a book of the scriptures to know that resurrecting the dead is an act of heresy against Halone"
Halone is Ishgard's patron deity, Ishgard will not endorse you as a Necromancer at all.
Ala Mhigo is out due to the fact they gave Zenos an unmarked grave so no one would defile his body, if they respect an enemy's body they despise to try and prevent anyone doing anything to it safe to say Necromancy is out.
Ul'Dah look at Thaumatgy and Blm with the voidsent, it would be a very very thin line for Necromancer to tread but way more possible here than previous 3
Limsa we know how they honour the dead bit we have next to no clue how they feel about using the dead, Necromancer could exist here just under careful watch etc.
Doma is weird again could use Kami gave strength via the dead to oppress evil and people be upset about it but would understand but views on necromancy is nowhere here so who knows how it would be viewed.
As for the new girl Necromancer WoL, she constantly refers to herself as tainted, this could very well be that on her home world that she is reviled despite her wanting to do good. While such a take would be interesting for our character it is an impossibility for our character by the time you could access it.
If was going to be be a full Job for 6.0 it will start at lv70, what have we done by that time, Defeated Ultima Weapon, Nidhogg and Shinyru/Zenos, saved Limsa, Gridania, Ul'Dah, Ishgard, Ala Mhigo and Doma, we are most certainly a Hero by that point, now try telling the masses their hero likes to use dead bodies to do their good deeds and watch the riots happen to have our head on a stick.
The story of FFXIV, the main story, runs counter to Necromancer as a playable job, we are adorned by the masses despite also doing menial tasks for them(after awhile people do recognise who you are but ask anyway). Necromancer is a fantasy that cannot function without making it a non Necromancer in FFXIV's setting. It is a wish that will probably never get granted.
With Ul'Dah I get that they would publicly decry any form of Necromancy but possibly endorse it behind closed doors if furthered their goals, basically something as the WoL that cannot happen because we are so public when going about our business, hence the very thin line Necromancer would have to tread in Ul'Dah.
Necromancer doesn't really ring as a "Final Fantasy Job", but more like "a class in Final Fantasy". It may have been in V, but it was in a rerelease and not the original, so it could be argued that it's bonus content not true of the original vision. It's only ever reappeared under a villain's control and like everyone's said it would be too lore breaking for us to raise the dead. Yoshida even said the reason why we don't have playable classes like Thief was because it would be weird for us the heroes to have a "evil" class.
Necromancer has far too many different incarnations across so many different fantasy games that it wouldn't feel unique to the FF brand if it was added.
Oh definitely, they did do it after all. But even they had enough sense to lie about it saying Sil'dih was raising the dead and intended to use the undead to invade Ul'dah and used that as a justification to declare war on them.
I can't see the WoL becoming a Necromancer unless they heavily re-tool it to leave out any raising of the dead (beyond resurrection of course), but then what's even the point.
Wasn’t Alaqa’s whole thing that she was tainting aether, and the elementals of the Twelveswood got the white mages involved to stop it? What about Edda and the other necromancer wasn’t bad to you in Palace of the Dead? I mean we don’t strike a peace treaty with them, we killed them. And the boss in the new dungeon once again brings up how she is Tainted.
The chances of them putting a class in as the hero that is “tainted” are slim to none. Look at all the stuff we have done throughout the expansions so far, what do they all have in common? We’re the knight in shining armor, the good guy. They aren’t just going to flip it on it’s head and be like “we’re bad now ;)”. Peoples thoughts on this class are exactly the thoughts they had when “Warrior of Darkness” was brought up for ShB.
You just aren’t gonna be some tainted, corpse raising WoL side questing through some town and the locals just be cool about it from a story perspective.
I get that you all want to be edgy, but I don’t think this is the game that’s gonna let you express that.
