They are going to be bought. It's in the patch notes.
"Aged and otherwise damaged items used to craft vintage gear can now be purchased from shops.

I'll almost miss x-ethers dropping from old dungeon chests. Almost, in that my playing has dropped off, and I haven't really run those much anymore. But it was kinda nice that I had held onto them for BLM. Sure they're cheap to acquire, but, had a stash on hand as I learned of the quad-Flare.
Oh, removal of non-augmented poetics gear. That's something. I think I might be slightly screwed over on that, as I had saved up the items for buying GNB/DNC weapons, but haven't yet gotten them to 70 to buy them...
But, sweet that it sounds like hopefully the rings will no longer conflict. Looking forward to upgrading those.
MCH being untouched bugs me but I guess that’s what expansions are for
AST changes are worrying as usual, and BRD potency buff isn’t enough tbh
RDM is no such thing, and it never has been. RDM is a legitimate part of the party in its own right. You can argue that the caster role has balancing issues because SMN brings mostly the same utility RDM does as well as more DPS, but reducing my job to "training wheels for prog" really pisses me off. People like you who push this meme are the worst. >:|
Yawn, Warriors demanding that their job be the best in the game again, how boring. Warrior belongs in the trash bin. In FFXIV, nothing matters more than damage. What you are saying is you want warrior to be the undisputed king of tanks again and to that I say no thank you.
I wish they'd give us an option to tell our retainers NO when they bring us back like a fish or random gear loot that wasn't even relevant back in 2.1 .. or potions/elixirs etc. I have 4 retainers I thought about getting more but nah, it's not worth it to me if that is the majority of what I get back. I know i can ask them to do things like hunt for specific ingredients, but I would happily continue just using quick exploration if they added a "No thanks" or instant sell in that little reward menu. Perhaps this is the next step in eliminating inundating us with trash garbage.
I think a lot of people hated the "TP" gauge, and they wanted more WoW like combat, but I might be the minority that enjoyed having another resource to be concerned with. It could have been restored in several other ways than what we had, but I did feel it added another layer of technical complexity that the game feels like it is sorely missing right now. The trinity style of gaming to me is also getting kind of stale, I do enjoy being able to just form a party with friends and queue up with "mismatched" classes when we all want to go as what we want to go as, so I like that. But just endless run into stuff and aoe it down asap getting pretty heckin boring. There are some things I like about the "new system", but if I had to pick between what we have now and what we had then, I'd definitely go back. Sure we had super man pulls all over the place, but I feel like "in order to make the game more accessible" we have kind of turned the game into baby's first mmo, and it doesn't need to be that. Not sure how this ties into the "full patchnotes" theme of the thread, but I hope this post gets seen by someone that is on the team and they kind of grasp what I mean. This game doesn't need to be drag your fingertips over the numbers at the top of the keyboard and win easy. And the instance dungeons are fine, but can you please try to break the mold some? Please? If you're only gonna give us 1 dungeon per update cycle, raise the bar please. Cosmos was pretty cool I think, probably the best dungeon of ShB imo. I am also not fond of ShB at all as an expansion so the community may say my opinion is not valid. I found it the most boring of the entire game, ARR 2.1 to 3.0 included. Like more boring than things you went back and pruned for the sake of making it less boring. I have utterly rejected the pvp changes, and I'm pretty sure my opinion on that is in the prevailing majority area. I don't even do roulettes anymore, don't cap my Allegory weekly, I deco fc houses, friend's houses when they ask, and go to "rp" clubs and fake being a drunk online for completely random people and have a blast doing it. The content being pushed out is just not engaging for me due to just trying to shove it out there for the masses to gobble up. I did Neir raid like 3 times. 3. XD I'm also not into the Neir series so I have no idea what is so appealing about it, sure some of the glam was appealing for people, but as a raid I found it kind of bleh. Dun Scaith which I've only gotten to do recently was WAY more of the kind of content I'd like in a raid.
Additionally, I really been into eating peanut butter and jelly lately. Pretty nummy.
I understand your point. Eventually we're gonna have to ask Square-Enix to have 2 categories for jobs: PVE and PVS/PVU (savage/ultimate). PVE would allow for very creative job balance and mechanics. While PVS/PVU would allow for very complex fights where all the roles are balanced to do similar damage/defense/healing, just in different ways.
Square-Enix could be pioneers by doing this. Showing other mmorpgs why they're the best mmorpg in the market.
I have 8 retainers, handy if you don't want to farm, annoying on quick ventures and results are:
Cordial (HQ)
Retainer Fantasia
Ice Pick(NQ)
Shire Philosopher's Ring
Rubber (NQ)
Hingan Watchtower
General Purpose Pastel Green Dye x2
Oriental Pipe
Well worth the hour and 16 ventures spent
I think it boils down to odds really. "Luck" as some may call it. More often than not, I get some NQ sky rat harness or something of lesser usefulness that will sit on the MB on my homeworld for maybe 7 to 10 days, before I take it off and just desynth or vendor it. Occasionally I may get a nice deco for house, or something to is just bizarro cool, like an unfinished shawl :D. I do like house deco. Had my oldest retainer bring back a Hingan Roof (nanpu) the other day, and it was worth it for the laugh XD . Like A ROOF! She came back with a ROOF to give me. Feel sorry for whoever she stole that from. But overall, I think the system would be improved with a "No thanks" or Vendor it option right there in the reward screen.
Ehh. Unless you're playing for a couple hours a week, this patch won't last long for most people.
Case in point: Tenacity.
It provides upwards of 5-7% mitigation yet no tank remotely wants it over Critical or Direct Hit (Determination for Warrior). Why? That extra mitigation isn't enough to save a GCD healer, thus being worthless. So while Tenacity is better than Parry because it also provides damage, it's still a sub-stat you take if the stats you usually want are capped.
I literally RDM until a fight is basically smooth and then BLM after, or at least did last tier before I swapped to healing.
It isn't just training wheels for the party (for the raise) but also for me. I learn when the movement heavy parts of a fight are on a job that's nice and forgiving then I can adjust BLM to fit. This usually results in much less of a curve in my BLM parses too, since I'm starting on it with a baseline of where I need movement tools in mind.
RDM doesn't need to be a training wheels job for you but being mad at other people for using it as one is nonsense, it's a perfect fit.
I miss HW DRK. What is miss most I think is Scourge, the DoT for those who don't know. I wish they'd give that back to us as an alternative combo finisher to use besides Soul Eater. I like the current version better than the SB version, but I miss the HW one, T.T
It's not though. I'm not saying its in a bad spot, but it's still not where it once was. And I don't mean it being so overly strong compared to the other healers. The issue with SCH now is ironically the same issue it always has been the faerie, but reversed. I'll share what I was telling some FC mates.
Basically, they nerfed the faerie when she was "too strong" and that made sense then. But they kept nerfing her and not really adjusting the other abilities SCH has access to. All the meanwhile giving WHM and AST additional oGCD heals. Physick is the only heal on the SCH side that I think could use a boost. But everything else is on the Faerie side. Her heals are too weak now to compensate for what SCH's lack in raw power. Not to mention she's been integrated into our kit more. Additionally, SCH not only has to deal with pet heals having a lower output, but a delay as well. The other healers don't have to worry about that.Quote:
"In regards to SCH, their potencies do need a bit of a tweak. But I feel its more on the faerie side of things moreso. Maybe a flat buff to Physick like make it 450 or 500, but when they tried to adjust how the faerie fits into the kit they nerfed her a bit too much. Having that kind of adjustment was "fine" when SCH was the main healer that relied on oGCD heals. But since that's not a thing anymore, and WHM and AST not only have a plethora of oGCD heals, but ones that are instantaneous (no pet ai delay) and reliant on their own power, the faerie needs a fix."
Imagine getting upset about someone else's opinion over a fake class in a video game. Some people need to let their butts breathe from their chairs and step outside from time to time.
Yet on the same page, you said Warrior deserves to be in the trash bin. Wouldn't that also be classified as "completely rude to the people who love the job and play it as their main?"
And whether you like it or not, that was Red Mage's reputation until it was buffed. There's a reason TEA groups frequently excluded it from their recruitment ads or at least showed preference towards Black Mage and Summoner. Both were far and widely superior. When Summoner can boast nearly 1,000 more rDPS and also raise. Red Mage's value kind of falters.
Don't care in the slightest. If you're gonna try to shove my job into a box then yes I'm going to rebel against that. Don't like it? Then don't do it.
It's really simple. One is clearly a statement of opinion, the other a transparent attempt to present opinion as fact. I never once said "Warrior is this thing and should be played for this reason" yet the other person did say that about RDM.
You're dying on a hill crying about a game. Red Mage is an easy class, there's no denying it. Is it fun? Sure it is. But a lot of people do use Red Mage to learn fights before bringing in more complex classes because they can watch everything from afar and know how to time things.
There's no job in this game that's "complex." Your beloved summoner is not a hard job. If someone can't prog on their main job and need to play RDM to do it then clearly they do not know their main job very well, and are wasting their time playing a job they're not into just because they think it's somehow more okay to be mediocre on it than it is for them to be mediocre on their main. In fact, that goes double for summoners because their job is also excellent for prog.
I don't play summoner but pop off. Your beloved red mage is easy, it's not an attack on you or other red mage mains. If you love your job don't worry about the opinions of others. This really is a silly hill.
On the note of staying on topic though, might finish leveling up my warriors on my alts...
Except your "rebellion" came in an entire separation conversation. You quoted someone who said nothing about Red Mage and trashed Warrior. The two were never related and now you're just backpedaling on being hypocritical.
Black Mage requires you know the entire fight to properly optimize your movement tools. It is far and away harder to master than Red Mage, and is frankly useless in a prog setting since you aren't prioritizing damage. Therefore, many Black Mage mains will prog on Red Mage and strategize how the fight would go on Black Mage. It isn't a matter they can't prog on Black Mage, it's just harder. You can deny it all you fancy but Red Mage is considered the "easy" caster because, well, it is.
I'm pushing nothing because I don't believe RdM is a training wheel nor have I ever said so. But many parties still consider it such for prog. I've seen enough parties lock caster to Smn/ Blm in PF to know the "training wheel reputation" is still a thing.
So no need to get your knickers in a twist and attack me. I simply stated what many others still believe, even after signifcant buffs; don't shoot the messenger. Getting aggressive will get you nowhere.
i'm just gonna slide in between this lil thing above me and say, i am liking the patch notes, Gunbraker in PvP is going to feel like a beast to fight, i like the war changes, i am just more curious on what the mounts will be in this patch besides the horse mount.
What do you think that unicorn is from, anyway? "??? Extreme"? The background of the pic looks like Churning Mists' on a clear day to me.
EDIT: Oh, wait. Is Shiva Unreal gonna drop a mount/tokens for a mount?
So literally just like every other job in the game. You're not optimizing anything until you know the fight front to back, that's what optimization means to begin with.
Different, yes. Harder, no. They are completely different playstyles. RDM play in high end content revolves around making the best use of dualcast and movement every other GCD to handle mechanics while performing your rotation to the best of your ability. Black Mage gameplay on the other hand involves timing your movement around periods of completely stationary play. While RDM has more frequent movement, It is BLM who enjoys more burst movement and the ability to pick when and where to move without sacrificing any of their main DPS rotation. When RDM gains an ability that allows them to teleport straight to safety with no drawback (or when RDM can stack scorch casts and use them at any time they wish) then maybe you will have a point, but they don't - Their movement is done during dualcast and then they have to stop and cast again.
That's nice, but if you think learning a fight on RDM is going to help you much on BLM, then I don't know what to tell ya. More likely, those BLMs do it for the chain rez more than because they think playing the fight on RDM is going to help them on BLM.

Rdm is fine, all jobs can clear all content, if you are good at rdm and enjoy it just stick with it. You do not have to switch another job once you get a fight down, its just your mentality or your groups, to favor the almighty "Meta" gods...
But it is a training wheels job to many parties.
That isn't an opinion, it's a fact.
It doesn't mean you can't play it for a different reason or that you're bad for liking it for other reasons but if you want to stick your head in the sand you do you I guess?
But it does? Like, it tangibly does. You learn where it's movement heavy and then can plan your movement tools better than just starting on BLM and dropping all kinds of casts/eno.
Hunt Discord has confirmed there will be 3 instances of Kholusia and Lakeland. A rank trains will be 20/20 mobs so prepare for the craziness to begin.
