That sucks, I really liked deep dungeon, I've spent hours in potd and hoh, I even use it to cap tombs and lvl alt jobs or group stuff with friends.
It's relaxing cool looking content that's fun to play, sad to see this go away.

Actually we got our lovely Lala in my FC who did try solo runs on basically all jobs^^
-hes actually on #2 as solo Mch on our data center: https://de.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...&dcgroup=Light
It might be better to release one after the next expansion. The Stromblood one was a bit of a total letdown anyway....
Man, y'all like over reacting to things don't you?
Remember when people asked to make more 4 people content or even make it harder/more interesting?
Well, they heard us and now all we got is one dungeon per patch and its dumb story dungeon that even scripted bots can clear.
The entire reason places like hoh and dungeons are useless is because square makes it that way, instead of just cutting it maybe they could try fixing it. I mean grand cosmos came out with ilvl 445 gear months after you could get 450 from easily cleared normal eden and 460 from tomes, why they even bother making stuff like this I don't know. They could easily continue the msq without adding useless dungeons.
And hoh has absolutely nothing to look forward after a full clear, except taking a screenshot so obviously it's going to be dead content. You know why mythic in wow is so popular? There's a reason to always go back and improved your character, something square is terrified of doing for some reason.
I'm all for changing things up, but with Shadowbringers I can't help but feel that they cut costs more than they have in previous expansions. Cutting more content for the sake of other content when there have already been cuts seems...questionable. All that sweet sub money certainly isn't going back into the game in any way, shape or form. They have made that quite obvious over the past couple of years.
As someone who doesn't do Savage, Ex, etc. the dungeons—'deep' and otherwise—make up the bulk of repeatable content for me. It's going to be really hard to justify subbing for anything but the expansions now.
Aside from the story, which is the main allure for me, the things I look forward to in patches are: dungeons, deep dungeons, 24 mans. And, while the NieR raid series is a dream come true for me, it is content that is spread pretty thin, with massive lulls between installments. If the new Eureka is a complete bust like the last one, I don't see that I have much to be excited about for the rest of the expansion at this point.
That... definitely sounds like a dodgy translation. Because otherwise I have no idea what that could possibly mean O.o content mainly for living??? I doubt that means housing so idk what to make of it
Does anyone have a clearer translation?
I interpreted living as housing kind of stuff to be honest, so like retiring and growing gyshal greens or minions or something.
I'm all for new stuff. Deep dungeons are okay, but I generally only do them with friends until I have maxed stats. And just because you don't enjoy a type of content doesn't mean it failed. A lot of people thoroughly enjoyed Eureka. We have been popping in recently to help a friend who's just started it, and there's still an active FATE train in Anemos. Folks in Hydatos too. Not sure if anyone does Baldesion Arsenal anymore tho so they might look at changing how you access that.
I get very tired of people complaining about content being the same and formulaic patches in a repeating cycle and then screaming when SE tries something new. If I was a dev, I'd just give you all the same fight for everything and give it a different name. At least then your constant complaining would be justified
Eventhough I was quite a bit disappointed with the story of HoH I was looking forward to another deep dungeon because it was content that I was able to do alone or with a friend. Maybe I would be a bit less disappointed if we had heard more about that "farm" that he talks about..seemingly that is no battle content?
Anyway we have lost another dungeon..for nothing..because instead of getting more stuff on top of the old ones we get less...strange when Shadowbringers was such a huge success and we have the highest amount of subs right now.
I like to try out new stuff too but not at the cost of older ones..honestly I would be fine with them trying something new (and they should) if we did not lose stuff with it. We are growing in sub numbers, the expansion was a huge financial success but instead of building onto the stuff we get content taken out. And seeing how hit or miss their new stuff is (with more miss imo) then this is bad.
Heck I would be fine with more Eureka even though I hated it if I knew that nothing else was cut for it..but seemingly we often just get new stuff at the cost of old..and imo deep dungeon was one of the few content that was seen as quite positive here on the forum. (At least more positive than stuff like Diadem or Eureka)
They elaborated a bit on the "resource" issues during their Game watch interview (follow the discord link here for the transcripts), at least as it pertains to Hildibrand stuff (something I'll confess to caring very little about), and like I suspected it's more a manpower than a money issue. I suspect the ARR rework is drawing significantly on their scenario teams, and if they are doing anything similarly intensive with the graphics/assets (which may also encompass the ARR consolidation, a project which may, in turn, preoccupy their battle design team), that would explain the cuts in the dungeons and deep dungeon, since they positioned any such work as necessitating such trade-offs (e.g. see here). They don't like contracting out work, and these are short term projects, so it could explain why they're stretched. I'm waiting until 6.0 to whether this is all being done to deliver significant improvements to the game along the lines I want to see, i.e. character customisation and texture/graphics improvements.
And what if nothing of that comes true? No improvement on graphics, ARR will get some quests cut off and that's all, and even there will be no new customization for races, maybe a one hair for new races and that's all. How would you feel? As someone who's waiting for big change s since HW, they doing same stuff year by year, but we're getting less and less than before.
Something inside me still trying to believe, some hope still exists, but year by year it's just vanishing away as I see what priorities they have in mind.
Patience, bounder of green leafy blades.

I'd think so too, it just seems super super weird to throw that in at the end of a question about deep dungeons, to say they're taking a break from making deep dungeons but they're working on... something related to ranches and living? Because of resource constraints apparently? Very strange. Maybe it was just a stream of thought type thing because it seems unrelated to the question that was asked. I ask for a clearer translation because I honestly have a hard time even following what he's trying to say with that answer as a whole.
Honestly if things get much more "restrained" than they are, I can already see myself spending less time playing the game. Too many things are getting binned under "not enough resources" this go round for me to be comfy with the direction things are going. Obv I'm not gonna start doomsaying and being all "game's dying rip," and I still love the game, but... I dunno. Some of the priorities lately just seem odd to me.
The saddest thing is they (the FFXIV development team) actually DON'T have the money.
Big papa Square Enix is tight with the purse strings. So they don't even see a fraction of the funding they should have based on the game's subscriber base. Square Enix just pockets that and funnels it into their newest titles instead of maintaining a certain standard of quality. They don't feed the cash cow, they just milk it, and they'll probably even be surprised when it dries up. Instead they give people like Tetsuya Nomura unlimited resources to keep games in development hell for over a decade.
They still haven't even filled the position of director that Yoshi-P is currently occupying as well as his desired job of producer because it's cheaper to just have him do both. The fact is that SE doesn't really see much of a reason to invest very much in the game that has saved their company, and that's a major issue.
That's also why I don't get people who white-knight saying things like: cash shop is good, they need our money! Buying fantasias is good, they need our money, etc.
They're getting a load of money from us already, every year more (we had no cash shop at first and now most cosmetics go there), subscriptions keep getting more too, but that money doesn't go back in the game anyway, we're always funding other games instead. It's sad, honestly.
I hope we see something more interesting than Deep Dungeon. That grind is awful.
Like I said earlier, I will re-consider whether it's even worth staying subbed at that point. I share a lot of your concerns and if the intention is to turn this into some farmville type game, there is no way I am paying a sub for that. To be clear, I am not defending them, but at the same time we're in a position of ignorance as to what's going on behind the scenes.
We should be vocal about stuff that bothers us, otherwise they will feed us more and more casual living content, that will slowly turn this game into Second Life or something with an story like in single player game. 5 instanced bosses and you can go play something else, thats not how MMO suppose to work, you can't make biggest sales ever on expansion and start cutting PVE content off, to make Umbrellas and Minion farms.
What the heck is "lifestyle content" anyway.. I'm the warrior of light...not the gardener of light..
I want to believe.. I want to give it a chance, I do...I want to be pleasantly surprised!
Probably more of a result of awkward translations. In the context of the conversation I took the statement to mean more social activities that encourage people to interact more. It doesn't have to be gathering or housing related (well, it could). It can also be PvE content that promotes communication.
It's all very vague. No use but to wait. Or panic as some are prone to do. That works too.
SE's feeling the highs, we're feeling the lows, but the beats start stepping into our souls, we start clapping our hands and stomping our feets and moving our body's to the high low beats.
That is still very vague. It's open for interpretation. And even with some translations that are not so...Google-ified it's hard to make a guess what Yoshi means. I mean, Mr. Happy even dissected the interview and came out with them releasing multiple public dungeons as Bozja gets updated. Removing the barriers from the first one (BA) and you can get a lot of social interactions between people in a zone trying to start a group, while also giving more battle content. Makes as much sense as your totally not hyperbolic "FFXIV is becoming Second Life!" idea.
The only way I'm fine with no deep dungeon is if in 6.0 we get one for 70-90.
HoH is a little less interesting than PotD in my opinion, so I would love if they put more time into it this time around.
