100% this. If there's one thing I can't stand in MMO's it's currency bloat, and FFXIV is one of the worst offenders.

i really dont see a point
beast tribes,Tomestone,Seals all don't have limited use and can grab materials with them
Raid currencies you only have a certain amount of gear you can buy they shouldnt be sitting in your inventory for ages
After a point I thought it would just be easier to add every new currency to the...you know, currency tab. But clearly someone on the team LOVES filling their inventory to the max or there's still some PS3 limitations floating around.
Idk. I can sorta understand the arguments from some players, "Just grab what you want, dump the rest, don't keep anything unless you're after certain gear, etc." I get it.
But. As someone with a limited play schedule, only sporadically joining in these raids (and only the old ones right now, not in 5.0), yes, I am the type just holding onto everything I get, because I don't really run anything often enough to get much. On top of that, going through the gear list just to see what I can get, and how it looks, is menu upon menu, click upon click upon click. So, haven't even really looked to see what, if anything, is worth going after.
But, also, I think I just made a poor transition from ARR to HW, never really understood the token system to begin with, and things just sorta kept piling up. I got used to the Coils system, dangit, where we just got the gear or we didn't.
Let's be real, they could give us 1000 spaces per inventory type (inventory, saddlebag, retainers, dresser) and you'll still fill it up with useless pointless crap and continue to moan about limited inventory. There's a line, and some people just need to get better at managing their hoarding habits.
Maybe you didn't had to deal with f2p games. It is common practice there to bloat your limited inventory with everything in order to let you buy the cash shop bags. And you run into the issue a day after you started to play the game.
Here we just lamenting of some tokens we can safely trash out if not interested to the gear they provide.
I must admit that I haven't played a lot of F2P games. The closest I came to F2P was Black Desert... Which is a game I bought, but which was structured like F2P.
For me, though, it's not the inventory space burden. I run a lean inventory. I just prefer a simpler approach to currencies. If I had it my way, there'd be 1 tome currency and gil, and that'd be it. I don't see what adding anything beyond that actually contributes to the experience, other than confusion.
Happens in buy to play games also. In Elder Scrolls Online you can play for free after buying your copy, but if you want to do any crafting whatsoever you quickly run out of inventory space (even though there's options in game to expand inventory slots). The only real solution in the infinite sized crafting bag ... which is only given to subscribers :P
Meh, the bug that eats the Eden drops will keep it from becoming a real issue.
Lost a helm drop last night. Did an /isearch multiple times, manually checked - nada. Checked duty finder, 'reward already received'. So um... yeah. Awesome. :/
Oh look i have all crafters at 70+ and gathering at 70+ and i have 0 inventory issues because i dont hoard useless junk.
I also dont need 6 glamour items or the same design because i only keep the veteran items so one day i might glamour it.
Also an fc mate of mines a glamour holic and has 0 issues with the 400 slots. Maybe dont keep every damn items thats just a reskin or recolor of a set that can be crafted now.
Salutations adventurers!
We’ve let the development team know of your thoughts and thank you for your feedback on the topic.
Now I want to go boop the person who said you wouldn't be saying anything any time soon in your welcoming thread. . J-j-just because I can.
It's good to see these posts though, even if they're only occasionally. Reminds us that we're not alone here in aetherial space. . . just screaming at each other lol.

Thanks for the response <3
(And other CM posts of course! They do happen haha just happy to see them when they do XD- though I'm sure you guys have many other things to do than trying keep us wrangled together lol)
There are 105 Key Items slots!! They could convert 70 of those to currency items and use that. Place raid tokens and totems from primal ex kills in there along with a few other things.
This game will never use 105 key items slots. Mega waste of space. I don't think I've ever seen over 10 used at any given time.
Thanks for this. The raid currencies being different from each other is fine but a lot of players tend to keep each currency since they get more through roulette's even for old content and it eats a lot of inventory space.
If it could work similar to how beast tribe currencies work it would be great.
Raid currency should be stored in the currency tab and not in our inventory. Make a new tab called raid and put it in there.
I would prefer this too, a pretty UI over hunting through my inventory (when a quest needs me to use an item from key item section I'd have to scan through the list lol). So I'm in favor of the currency tab expanding and improving over using my inventory space. Like to me I think of keys in skyrim or books in those bethesda/bethesda like games, giving them their own section (like through mods, keyring, etc) helps me a lot.
Though I'd be happy with key items over nothing lol.
As for OP I wouldn't mind condensing stuff either (just 4 items would be less for me to juggle that's for sure!), though I imagine there is a reason for it. Causing some players that want certain things to run again and again and some players happier with simpler/anything to be done fast- vs everyone fighting over all the same things. Maybe they want people who just want to get it over with to be happy sooner, and they want those who are willing to do it multiple times for what they want to do so?
I think the most I've had filled was 25, and that was just due to picking up 2 sets of hunt bills and 4 sets of daily quests before reset.Quote:

................huh? I'm flabbergasted on this post. The amount of spaces this game given the player either through the saddlebags to the mog station venture NPCs for more slots. Having 8 more items is an issue? What? Huh? Am I lost here?
I've been running with three retainers 100% full, saddlebag 100% full and 8 inventory slots left free for 2 expansions now.
We really need more space or better stacking/alternatives for certain items
Stuff like Logos, Materia, Tokens, Currencies do not belong in inventories....
you mean eden takes 2 item slots temporarily, and then only takes the weapon token item slot after you have gotten all the gear tokens for the week.
Usually things I don't keep, I either sell, destory, or craft. That's a problem on your end on managing inventory slots. Over 1k worth of inventory slots if you pay the 8 retainers and the saddlebag. To use up all of those slots and still having an issue with it, even if they were to put raid currency in the currency tab with isn't a problem for them to do. You'll still have a problem in the long term with inventory management and what then? The community who have trouble will come back and say that the team need to do something, maybe more inventory slots......well that's not a bad idea. Gotta take advantage of that via mog station.
I'm just saying, it falls back to the player, not the people who made the system AND give you more slots to deal with. If you want them to give you another 1k worth of slots, it won't change anything. I'll bet you on that if the team announce another 8 retainers on mog station. It'll be a matter of time until 1 person in this community will make a post and complain that the slots aren't enough.
Yup, as much as I'm never againt more space, its acting like spoiled child to expect the staff to resolve every single personal problem of every single player.
I'm a bit forgetfull on my potion and food usage, the dev's totaly should make a big-ass in-game sound-alert to remind player to use them because its unplayable without it.
Just make the raid currencies a key item, bam.
They'd be easier to find and keep track of, and you can use them at your leisure.
No more checking saddlebags, all retainers, and rummage through your own inventory should you want that saucy omega glam when it's just there, in your key items tab.
That's the whole point. Why do i have to pay additionally for more inventory space? Limited inventory space at that?
They can add 2000 more slots and it won't be enough because of all the restrictions they impose on us.
- Armory filled up? Ends up in the inventory, which clogs up fast after several dungeon runs
- New factions/dungeons/raids added with new tokens/drops
As I said, inventory space wouldn't be an issue if the majority of drops didn't end up in it in the first place, and the concepts we had were pulled through hardline.
They did a good step with the tokens for beast tribes initially, it needs to be done further.
Woo nice to hear a response that it may get looked at ^^
Even if it is just primal totems it would go a long way to helping current and future players.
Basic inventory isn't the only issue here. With the increase in level cap and the addition of new jobs, the armoury chest feels really tight. And I m not even talking about the bloat of all the raids that begins to add up, currency from special fates, seasonal items, food, etc
Especially the Ring slot. . .
The same system that requires you to go back to ARR/HW/SB zones to collect mats to craft a ShB item. That causes people to keep old mats, creating inventory bloat.
The same system that puts out 84+ currencies that take up inventory space were implemented in Stormblood alone. That creates bloat.
Not to mention all the materia that is thrown at you via random chests that you can't choose to accept or deny. I've had to resort to stop throwing them away because as long as the slot is in my inventory with a materia, it'll just go there automatically.
Woo, 29 different classes with only 35 weapon slots in the armory! Relic armor gets cluttering too, but at least we don't need to get it.
If the armory could be layered by role, that would be fantastic. Considering how all DoW/M gear is already specifically class flagged, it shouldn't be too difficult to sort.
Main Hand especially, now that we're up to 29 jobs.Quote:

My armory chest went from nice and managed to cramped and overflowing. I hate the leveling portion of expansions, because it can double the amount of gear that needs a home.
I have 3 retainers that JUST have crafting mats you cant purchase from vendors for $ (though I keep a stack of Iron and a sack of Copper ore because those are relevant for crafting and i dont want to run inside my house every time i have to craft cobalt or deepgold or rose gold).Quote:

If you do any amount of crafting for $, I dont know how you can get away with having fewer than 2 or 3 dedicated craft retainers, especially with Shb adding an additional 2+ tabs worth of raw mats. Thats even purging everything that doesnt make something more valuable than what I value bag space as (including 98% of all food mats).
