No offense but this is not the only online game with time limited goods. Pre expansion events on wow had some limited items that never came back.

Now i'm not saying that it is ok to put festive items in the store AND since there's the double standard of last year gold saucer rewards I'm raising my eyebrow to the tactic, but honestly we need to remember the contetx and the past of the company imho

We'll just have to agree to disagree on that particular point. IMO, Entitlement is strong with many people, and there is absolutely no reason why someone who is coming into a game late should get old items that came and went with an event.

As I mentioned in that post, I am a total fluff lover. I've missed out on several past items due to not playing at the time (this game and others), and while I'm bummed that I missed out, I absolutely do not feel that I deserve to have the items. If the items were brought back around for each time the event came around, I'd be ecstatic, but I do not expect it nor demand it.

"Subscription makes it so that NOTHING in this game is free at all" - with that line, one could argue that players that obtained items from the original events already paid for the items with their sub, something new players did not have to do. Buying it off the mogstation is the fee they pay for not paying a subscription while the event was taking place. That's not exactly how I feel on that particular matter, but I just thought the comment was odd since it didn't really support the rest of your thoughts. More playing devil's advocate with that quote ;)

I'll just sit here, waiting for more things to be buyable with achievement points :(

The starting point is the concept that (culturally speaking) the company believes and has harvested that belief of digital "limited" items. I honestly believe they are aware that their "successful" game merchandise sells -because- a portion of the player-base expects these items to be limited and thus gives them a faux status quo oh "I have rare things" and we've seen those threads and how those topics go.

It's not shady. People really need to stop using that word against concepts that they don't like. It's a marketing tool, and yes one that you don't agree with at all, but it is in no way shady. For it to be considered shady, we'd have to venture and teeter on the line of it being illegal somehow or that the item in question is not being what was perfectly advertised, and it's not that kind of situation at all.

It does not matter if it's a paid game or whether or not you are buying it just like everyone else, spending the same amount of money and time for the subscription. No one is entitled towards everything that the game offers for free, in the same manner that new players purchasing this game and SB are not entitled towards getting the digital items from the previous collector's editions without paying the set fees that everyone else had to pay to get them.

It's about the same with actual physical items. You are not entitled towards everything that you see or want as Skivvy has pointed on beforehand. The sense of entitlement for players is really strong in this game for some reason.

Ah, I knew those recipes were unusual, but didn't understand why. Low level crafts so players can pick up culinarian class and craft them straight away.

Annoyingly the "battered fish" recipe calls for haddock, which apparently was only available from the event vendor? Nothing on the marketboard any more, unless it gets sold at each year's event.

Is no one else going to point out that these were free event items from 2015 Saint Wake event? They're only on sale in the Mogstation for those that weren't around for the event or just decided to skip grinding and will just buy them. IJS, they were free in game at one point. (Yes, I see others saying that event items are being put into the Mogstation.)

What really is shady is going to a restaurant, ordering a soda, get charged close to $5 dollars, getting flat soda not once but 3 times.

Starbucks, paying over $5, and having baristas not know how to properly serve a drink without letting the shot expire. People who know coffee know the difference most just accept reality and stay quiet. Compare to this RL is really more of a rip off.

How is it dubious? The main point is that business , unless charities and even so called non profit, make a profit one way or another. While CD Projekt springs has made somewhat decent games, sorry not a big fan of their projects, over all they have no choice in order to compete. Perception and reality. Over all yes they are still making a profit which is the whole purpose of a business. i will be honest Cyberpunk2077 looks interesting, yet so far I have not been impressed. The Witcher for example is a great game, just hate the controls and has issues on and off which they will not address tech support just claims it will be noted as feed back. Been working on it for years, just finished it and will not be playing it again. Then again we all have our taste.

While I've defended CD project red in this specific frangent, I will say that those reasonable prices have some doubts in working condition, which ofc I cannot prove, but they've been a bit evasive on the answers enough to warrant suspicions, nevertheless I say that perhaps it's the price to pay to get good products

Working conditions (which I assume are not worse than the average in Poland, which I know of by practice, with those at CD Projekt Red most likely being better) are not a "business to consumer" relations though. As much as it is not a good thing to do to abuse ones workers in any way, shape or form...consumers are consumers while workers are workers. Those are two entirely different "worlds" and when fighting for the rights of one side, the rights of the other are pretty much unaffected. They are not even contained within the same codex, in Poland at least.

I disagree, buyng something that is obtained by someone beign exploited is not really a great thing, also consumers and workers might have different rights but they are both humans and should receive fair treatments both.

That said I debated the validity of the claims against CD project red at the time, especially since some were taken out of context in my opinion, my point was that they are not saints either, they are a business and should be treated as such, they have so far good pro consumer polocies, but that's about it

CD Projeckt Red purchased shares in a large number of literature/comic companies in the past when still inexpensive. Their income is not solely dependent on the gaming portion of their business, but it is a large portion of it.

Fairly easy do when own bosses & own a decently used store front GOG, CD rake in a lot of cash & can afford to act generous but trust that if tight for money or weren't own bosses they'd be just as scummy as rest of industry.

Eh...No one stops other companies from being their own bosses?! And the scummiest companies like EA are actually the biggest ones, with the least amount of worry for money. The smallest companies with tightest budgets are actually the most fair in general.

You see, people nowadays want instant gratification. That's why all those gaming (and not only) companies get their initial success, then enter the shares market then sell their shares for ton of money. They want to earn several million without extra work all at once, instead of putting in ten years worth of some effort (as their own bosses, they choose how much technically) to get twice or even thrice that, with even more money waiting further down the line. That's why all those studios end up under scummy companies like EA. Because their owners want money NOW, not over time, so they beg to become underlings.

If you have an FC house and a decent amount of members, any food you put down will eventually get eaten, now matter how much you try to tell people not to. Which means you either have less decorating options for your house, or you have to be willing to suck up a $5 loss.

SE did eventually fix it so that the insanely expensive fixtures you can buy on the mog station don't get destroyed. Maybe if we complain loudly enough they'll do the same thing for food.

I remember some ppl trying to make a scene about them not paying royalties to the author of the witcher series, by hiding the fact that he pretty much made a stupid decision by outright refusing them because he thought the game won't sell, which was not a smart move on his part

It's not that easy, beign your own publisher is not an easy feat and it's also quite expensive since publicity is nowadays expensive, as such publishers tend to have a solid grip on games, it's why Ninja project got fed up and published Senua's sacrifice by themselves. However as of the last E3 that didn't last long since now they are owned by microsoft.

You have also to consider that if your society has shareholding, the ppl holding the shares are essentially your boss and they will wnat their money be worth, problem is most of the time they don't even know what you are doing the only want ALL the money.

This is what I'm talking about. Shareholding IS BY CHOICE. No company needs to enter the shares market. They do that for money. They SELL themselves. It's by choice.

And you're talking about publishers. You've got it wrong. Those studios you are talking about go to publishers and ask for them to fund their games. I'm talking about those studios that make their own games then look for publishers to publish them. Both exist. In the first case, yes, the publishers become "bosses" effectively. That's because it's effectively a work contract. In the latter the studio is their own boss. Sure, if the game flops then they will be the ones hurt/indebted etc. But if they succeed, then THEY will rake in the real money, because the risk and financial involvement of the publisher will be much smaller.

And in the age of GOG, Steam and digital sales, cutting publishing costs and reaching out to large amount of people anyway is easier than ever. But yes, it does need a lot of initial funds or special circumstances, like the group working on the game as friends on the side while having a different job for living expenses.


But I was talking about the already established companies that HAVE the initial funds from whatever other projects they had before.

I don't deny the existance of game companies beign their own publishers since SE is one.
I disagree that it's simply a choice, market honestly is a very rigged game.

Frankly I will say that steam isn't really a good place for new game devs anymore, which is what ppl are criticising steam in the recent years, GOG is fine, even though I'm not really that informed on them atm.

However be wary about the future of CD project red because sadly many outside force have tried to acquire them. Which essentially forced them to rebuy most of their shares, to avoid beign forced to be bought by someone

If you don't want to spend $5 don't. Problem solved. There are many people out there including myself where $5 is mostly meaningless. I just think a virual snowcone is even more meaningless. I will go to an event IRL and get a blue raspberry for my hubby and I for $5 and get more enjoyment out of it.

Well it would kind of be worth 5 bucks if you can eat it as many times as you want..It would just refill every time you finished...

Personally if I want event consumables I will either stock up on them during the event or do without. I can find other things more worth my $5, but that's just me. After all, there's a reason SE chose to put it up for $5 instead of what I'd consider a more reasonable price.

That is extremely greedy the only way to stop it is to stop buying crap from the mog station. They are going to keep selling as long as people are buying the junk

What stats does it give and can it even be stacked with normal food buffs?

Like I even read it was obtainable earlier for free, so whats the problem?

Budget gamers like me who can barely pay the sub and maintain their hardware are simply happy to play the game rather than complain about virtual snowcones. No extra retainers, no alts in same world, Im having none of that. You dont see me complaining just because I cant have it.
