When talking about physical items...there's no issue there. Want a limited item?! Go and find someone that have it then buy it off of him. Sure. You may pay 10 times the cost, but then again, you may pay less or about the same. What matters is that both you and that person use the same market.
Here you get the item in-game for "free" (subscription makes it so that NOTHING in this game is free at all, at any point, even when you ignore the initial buy). But those afterwards can get UNLIMITED amount of these limited items...using a real world money.
Is it a crime?! No. Is it shady?! Most certainly. And honestly...I'm still surprised how many of the business practices in gaming industry aren't considered a scam yet, like "buy" buttons in marketboards when you actually "license" or "rent" something...and therefore do not own ANYTHING at all, which is a prime requirement for the use of term "buy".
