Sadly, they tried that with HW, and it lasted all of a month for the most part. There really isn't any way to improve the queue times as the people that enjoy tanking, are already tanking. Same with healing. The vast majority of people who main DPS either:

1. Aren't interested enough in tanking/healing to become a tank/heal main
2. Aren't confident enough to take on the role of tank/heal
3. Have had major amounts of bad experiences with tanking/healing and dropped it
4. Haven't tried it yet, and aren't sure about if it will be worth it.

I picked up tanking just to shorten my queue times and I think tanking casual/story content is pretty fun. I don't think I'm near a tank-main status to try tanking Savage/Extreme content, though. And healing was just way too boring for my taste since I've been a DRG main the past 2-3 years.

New healer and tank job would be nice, I wish some of the dps in my group would do a tank job so i can drop tanking and play rdm. But they arent finding enough varieties in tanks/healers for them to be interested in healing/tanking unfortunately. Or at least let us tanks get something new to play around with too, I am kinda bored of tanking.

If it was a BEAST race that we could play as and not a human with animal parts on them then race.

Jobs, definitely. We have plenty custumization options already, and they keep adding new hairstyles and other small options from time to time for added diversity anyway, I'd prefer to have more jobs to play with instead.

There is also the fact that we don't need more humanoid races, and I'm fairly sure they're never gonna add an actual beast race anytime soon...

New job. A new race is meaningless when you already play the best race, aka Thighlander. ;)

Current races getting more customization options would be far better than a new race, too.

Recover? My que times have been around the 10 minute wait, which isn't that bad in comparison to what they could be, see WoWs 20+ minute wait times. >.>

I would prefer a new job over a new race because if theres one thing Au Ra proved its that square will take shortcuts and use pre-existing models to create new races. So for Au Ra, they got the elezen body for males and the male miqote running animation. Its a waste of time adding a new race especially when they don't even want to make them unique in order to fit them into gear that already exists instead of creating a new base for gear to match new body types.

So I will have to go with Jobs because even if they release a new race, most people are just going to stick with one. With jobs, its something people can switch to or try or main and its just generally more used.

i would prefer a new race over new job. There are already 15 battle jobs and with some playing almost the same as another even with the tweaks made at expansion release. I would however welcome an entirely new role to the game like instead of tank/heal/dps every run could throw in support in get more unique benefits from machinist and scholar.

In a perfect world, I'd love to see both. Viera race (sexy bunnies) I'm looking at you :P

However, with what OP stated about budget constraints I'll settle for a new job, or more specifically more tank and healer jobs.

Id rather see more customization for the current races over a new race.... and is rather see a new support role before a new job

If the new race was Ivalice Moogles then totally race.

Ouch. But Job.
As much as I want a new race, getting a new job would benefit everyone in the game more than a cosmetic only race.

It would just make a bigger impact.

thats depends of what are you queue on and in what time, im starting to lvl my rdm and queues are around 20 min.

but i say it more the last census show tank/healer population get down a few % thanks to RDM and SAM and thats was a mistake, meaby you cant make tank/healer population grown with new jobs but you surely dont have to make it get down even more and thats what double dps expansion bring us.

next expansion need a healer and a tank, no more dps until 6.0

I would like a Race and would make sense if they allowed us to be Esper.

I say it would make sense since Warring Triad was in the game.

They could make the Esper town and have a race of Esper.

Give the esper a morph ability to change to different looking types of beings to gain powers and thats what they gain for skill set.

Example as you level up quest to gain new morph abilities just a example would be like the summoner quest.

But you get to morph into those and use a skillset that the morph gives you.

fire
wind
water
dark
light Just examples.

FFXIV will never implement a race that greatly affects it's gameplay beyond cosmetics. That's why all current races only have single digit stat differentials, and why the system in place to let us swap jobs so freely works as well as it does.

What you say could literally be a "Morpher" Job.

I'd like both, no better suggestion that what's previously mentioned (like Viera and Blue Mage). it's sad that a lot of mechanics in this game might need an overhaul if Squeenix adopts mechanics from other games (like a buff/debuff-focused job or a healing class that both rely on stacks to increase DPS, already suggested in other posts) but it'll be interesting to see them implemented.

A pretty shocking proportion of tanks played for the sole reason of swords, as PLD/DRK were the only sword weilding jobs. WAR and DRK got nerfed.

WHM was being dragged down by bad press regarding the Lily system and it's the one job actually hurt by the role system replacing cross-class. WHMs have to use 4 role slots to return to the pre-4.0 skill set.

SCH, however, was WAY over-nerfed, with a laundry list of changes that hampered everything. MP refresh, MP costs, fairy potency, and DPS outputs felt gutted. (SMN hurt, too.) It was much harder to play SCH, and SE had to make multiple, sweeping changes and additions to fix what they broke.

I don't know. I really dig the ninjutsu mechanic. I just like red mage a little bit more cause they have better gear and their entire job story is awesome (HW ninja sucked).

Although it IS true that while I enjoy healing in FFXIV there is no interesting healing mechanic. What makes healing fun is the control you have over the battlefield.

Going for Beastmaster. However instead of the small amount of pet commands summoner has, the BST pet combos with the BST's skills.
Blue Mage and Dancer are also recurring jobs that could be added.

That's a fair point. I usually queue around 4-6 PM EST and I'm usually queued as RDM or NIN. And I fully agree on needing a new tank and healer. Only fair considering we got two DPS roles this expansion.

new job, Lalafell is all we need.

Race. Glamour is the true end game, and honestly I get the feeling SE struggles with the jobs we already have. I STILL don't honestly think AST is designed very well, so I'm super nervous about whatever they bake up for the next healer.
