Well that's what anthrophomorphism is.

You're not seeing the same graphics if you're actually seeing 'just a weirdly rendered dog head' on top a 'human body'. Cause it's not a human body.
Since I can't get either of these or a Pom from Neo Steam (or a Bear Man), Lupin works.

I hope they don't. This design is very Un-Final Fantasy. It really doesn't suit the world imo.
Well considering werewolves have been in the series since at least Final Fantasy V (plot wise), they've been more a part of Final Fantasy world than most of the beast races which came after.
As far as the design, the only thing that bugs me is the ears are little too big :p
More than not suiting the world, it doesn't suit the story. Lupin are beastmen. The story makes it very, very clear in a multitude of places that the warrior of light is *not* a beastman.
But we all know that *if* SE will ever decide to implment a new race, that's gonna be Viera anyway. That's where the money is.
You may have skipped quite a lot of dialogue. The story is very explicit in talking about the beastmen as something extraneous to the warrior of light.
I do understand that some are desperate for a race that looks less humanoid, and you can feel free to hold your breath on it if it floats your boat, but do remember to breathe once in a while, because you're gonna be holding for a long, long time.
In the meanwhile, it's very easy to see that a race like this would be ultra-niche, even more niche than Roegadyn, and even if SE was willing to bend the existing story (which probably isn't the case), a game in this stage of maturity needs a potentially popular race to drive sales and subscription, not something a small minority would ever care to play. A new race is a big investment in terms of development resources (the less human-like, the more resources it requires for skeletons, rigs, animations, models and tweaks to existing and future equipment), and needs an equally big return in order to be greenlighted.
Needless to say, dogheads don't fit that bill.
I don't really need to go search through hundreds of videos for your sake. As I said, you're very free to hold your breath.
I'll be content with the nearly absolute notion that this will never happen, both for story reason, aesthetics, and for much simpler and more stringent marketing reasons.
People like you actually piss me off, you want to argue against it and when asked to provide proof you sissy out. I see absolutely no reason as to why they can't but say an Au'Ra can.
But fine if you don't wanna go through videos, just tell me the quest and I'll look up the cutscene myself in my journal.
Wolf people are the only beast people I want in my life. Give me Lupins!
Give us this race :) plsssssssss Thank u ~
Au Ra are not beastmen.
Feel free to be pissed off, it's no skin off my back if you get easily irritated. People don't have the responsibility to do research for your sake. The notion that beastmen tribes are alien to the warrior of light and the scions is scattered all across the story, since the very beginning of 1.0 all the way to now.
Feel free to request whatever you like. It still won't happen, but people's boats are floated by worse things than requesting stuff that doesn't fit a game's story or marketing.
It'll be already luxury if Square Enix will decide to spend all the development resources for a new race for a game in this state of maturity, instead of funneling it into more content that the majority of the playerbase will enjoy. If you think they're gonna greenlight a new race that requires more work due to its foreign nature with the current character models, and will be played by an overwhelmed minority of the player base, I see a bit of naivety, but it's still your prerogative to ask.
Have you considered just letting people have their requests without being that one person who just has to say it cant happen? As the viera request thread has shown it adds nothing to have the whole "IT CANT HAPPEN" Or "I DONT WANT IT TO HAPPEN" song and dance and just makes people argue then get mad.
Besides things in this game can get retconned at any time, especially story pieces which is why its incredibly silly to just say something cant happen when you are not even one of the devs.
If the devs say no and it cant happen then GG oh well. You hopping in saying no and it cant happen then well the chance to happen is still there.
I can see it now.
"LF Lupin EB partner. Must be down for yiffs. ;3"
Such negativity! Relaaax. Let people ask for whatever and go on with your life. No sense getting bent outta shape and antagonizing people~
Most of the work is already done! They are already using weapons and wearing different pieces of armor as NPCs, the most they would HAVE to do is add customization to the game. Also just them adding the Au'Ra as a playable race screwed with the story as it was. They start the same as any other race in the game. We never stepped foot into Doma or knew of their race till the end of 2.0. So how in hell did the playable one even get to Eorzea in the first place. See how much your story makes sense when you are helping them as a brand new one?
I was asking you to do any research neither. I was simply asking you to prove me wrong.
This is a discussion forum. It's made for discussion, and discussion is made of opinions pro and against an argument. If you want to make your requests without the interference of those who think it can't happen or shouldn't happen, I suggest you get a blog or a tumblr and lock the content, that way you can toot your horn without counterpoints all you want.
Au Ra are not beastmen. They do not impact the story as it's written.
Also, the "most of the work is already done" shows me that you aren't very familiar with game development.
Implementing a race as NPC and implementing it as player characters is in an entirely different order of magnitude in terms of work loads and resources. Almost none of the work is already done.
As NPCs that serve basically only as targets and with very limited participation to cutscenes, they can use a low definition skeleton and limited rigs. They have a very limited selection of equipment that is specifically chosen because it works with how they're designed.
In order to become playable all that would need to be overhauled, all equipment would need extensive redesign/adaptation. Even just the big beard/mane thing they have would cause massive clipping issues with existing equipment and existing animations.
Indeed it is and saying "I dont want this race because" is fine to say but "This race just cant happen because I say so" is not.
Because you hold no authority you have no ability to say something cant be added to the game but you are able to state your opinion on why you dont want it.
Saying you dont want it because you feel it does not work in the story thats fine but saying it cant because the story does not allow it is not really your call.
We are talking about requesting a race that is compatible with anything other races can do minus helmets and is already in the game, not some random idea so its not like people are requesting some wild ass race from the blue.
Also its a discussion forum and thus you cant parade around trying to shut others down by saying it cant happen.
And you're not being very discussion-worthy with your snide comments and ultimatums. Honestly, you've said your piece and clearly aren't actually interested in any form of discussion besides repeating your assertion that it's impossible.
It's not your place to say whether it's possible or not, though. You're not SE.
Please no. We absolutely do not need truly animalistic playable races. It would really change the game, and make a total mockery of the existing game lore. They may as well make goblins, sylphs, Ixal, and all the others playable, including the various mutant ninja turtles, and talking fish. Please, no. Just no.
I'm afraid that it's not up to you to decide whether I can say something or not, as long as I abide to the rules of the forum, which I obviously am.
No one here holds any authority unless they're marked as developers or reps. By your logic, no one here should say anything. According to my view of the story, and my (admittedly mostly indirect) experience in the industry, the possibility of this to happen are very close to zero, and I'll say exactly that.Quote:

You may not like being shut down, but that's an entirely valid form of discussion. I'm not here to please anyone.Quote:

I'm not sure why you expected to be able to say something that would make me argue otherwise or drop my argument?
A relatively normal human body with a completely animalistic head is just plain wrong, it doesn't make sense logically, physically or from a story or lore point of view. More than that it would be visually completely incongruous. This NPC beast race should never be elevated to playable status, it really wouldn't fit the game.
But they can be Warriors of Dawn :p
http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Kelger_Vlondett
In all honesty I know they have no chance of being a playable race, doesn't mean I can't wish for it even if it probably will never happen.
I expected you to stop being so antagonistic over a request multiple people want but okay I'll play.
Your word is law and everyone should bow down and totally stop talking about it because mr big man on campus Abriael says it dont work so lets just shut down all talking because Ser Abriael says its just so not happening! Like bro! This man says it cant happen so that means it just cant! Oh lord!
Also I dont mind being shut down, but only when its the devs which who actually can. Like dude you cant stop nobody from wanting something.
yes please. Best race they could ever add.
But it's not 90% human with waifu potential so it won't happen. Incoming hideous viera. -.-
What.
How is Beastmen v Furries.. I what?? What, Ronso don't count either?
The Lupin were sorta part of the Beastly Au Ra concepts.
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...1f8eb5ee87.jpg
I wish they had kept going for it but they said 'players like hyur and cutesy types' :(
Burmecian, Wolfman (FFV), Ronso, whatever Baku is (FFIX), hippomen (FFIX again), rhinomen (FFIX... again), bird people (various kinds, also FFIX again). FFIX in general was pretty diverse with their races.
That being the Royal We? (Senn, if you're reading this, I did take that to heart and now try to only post in "I's")
Also, in what way? Did the Lupin bother you that much in Stormblood?
Good thing we're playing a Fantasy game.
Who honestly wants Robots as a new race now?
Fantasy or not, games follow their own internal logic. Looking at existing playable races and the various beast tribes it's quite easy to see why it doesn't make sense. Use the excuse that it's a fantasy game ignores the importance of internal logic and consistency.
You can't use it as a lore reason when SE was clearly thinking about it until they decided that the playerbase just prefers 'hyurs' (aka Roes are the least played so obviously beastly types are not desired)....
Nevermind the fact that maybe Roes aren't the beastly look people want. They decided to make Au Ra Concept still a realization. Maybe not an actual player race but maybe they can in the future. But that 'lore' excuse is not one that really makes sense when they even -considered- it.
