Rewatch the presentation
Then do something else than crafting? Crafting doesn't represent the game and should in fact be easy for everyone to enjoy doing their gear, food, furniture and everything else. It's a little aspect of the game, not minor but not main either. If you're locking yourself in one content above all that is in game then I don't see why you're whining.
I think you need to rewatch it because there was no confirmation of anything, in fact, the smart assumption is that Ala Mhigo/Kugane is how they're gonna split the playerbase to ease server stress like how they added Channels in 3.0 and had you choose between SoC or CWH. So, until Yoshi P himself comes out and says "You have to clear Ala Mhigo before you can access Kugane", I'm gonna have to ask you to stop making false statements.
I'm usually the first to drink the haterade, and who knows, maybe the patch cycles will end the same way they do now as with many MMO's.
But I'm glad they only did 2 jobs instead of 3 if that means they're going to take a hard look at retooling abilities and balancing jobs, especially like when they singled out PLD that needs help. When they instituted 3 the first time, AST was pretty shit compared to the other healers and it took a long while (before now, overbalancing, literally) to get it where it is. I'd rather have 2 well-implemented jobs compared to 3 eh ones.
Not even gonna use a score cause I think it's sill. I am so happy for stomblood not disappointed at all. And I can finely be the RDM I always wanted to be can't wait to see what I can do with that job.
yeah after hw i feel like they need to spend a bit more time on those 2 roles. But I think pld deserves a shield charge/shield tackle. Anything to make the job a little more fun. Then they need to work on healer/tank synergy really hard and determine how best to implement it to where any combination of the three will synergize just well with the other two, or at least more feasibly without monopolizing a slot no matter what. Hope theyve been looking at the suggestions and debates on how to improve that on these forums.
Hmm. I don't know why you put the high score for bad and low score for good, but for me it would be a 1 since I'm really excited about all the new things coming. Only disappointment is the lack of customization. Was really looking forward to that since they dropped PS3, but I knew not to keep my hopes up on that one. Overall, I think we are getting a sweet expansion.
To be honest my hype is off the charts lol I think storm blood has the potential to be the best expansion to 14 and yea I meen I am kinda disapointed at not getting new charicter customisation and no new race that is disapointing but to be honest let's fix some of th qol stuff and the battle system before we wory about races and the like idk for me there a want not a need and right now we need so spice added to the battle system
They did say it wont be a remake .
All thewy will do is take some "bad" akills.
Then some more skills like provoke and add them to a role poll of skills.then combine some skills. Then add new skill. In the end you will have as many skills as now.
Pal will be the MT he is now and WAR the ot.
10, if those people threatening to leave the game are still here around stormblood.
On a scale of 1-10, how disappointed are you so far with Stormblood news?
I'm @ like 7.5 right now. I am disappointed (but not all that surprised) by what was revealed so far.
When it comes right down to it for me, all we've had was what 2 new jobs are coming (honestly I care little about the roles chosen, and I'm not a fan of either job, but I was prepared for disappointment in this department since the datamined shenanigans), showing off new primals and beastmen, and some dungeons and overworld/town-centric areas (if I left anything out here, its because it didn't grab my attention). These are things I already expected. Showing them to me does nothing for hype anymore because smoke and mirrors and shiny glitter-paint coated half-baked ideas and incomplete concepts have been a part of the usual diet with the exception of a handful of pleasant surprises.
And of course, people are allowed to get excited over these new zones, enemies, QoL fixes and jobs- everybody has different preferences and expectations; I can't take that away from anybody. There are people content and even pleased with how things are right now and new environments and at least one of the 2 new jobs are right up their alley. But I empathize with those who are hungry for information about what life at level 70 (or 60 to 70) is going to look like because all the new areas, enemy models and swimming won't mask "this is a weekly tomestone allowance hamsterwheel" model for long. I don't exactly hate the tomestone gear system, but are there plans for anything else besides that or their boss-gauntlet raids? Diadem was looking like such an alternative, but it was poorly conceived which is why we're getting a reboot; but will they update that throughout SB to stay relevant? Yeah, Eureka was mentioned for relic and something about timed spawns, and only knowing those 2 facts seems to set off some red flags about what they'll do with it.
Please note, this is me mulling over what has been shown so far. And before anybody tries to put words into my mouth, I'm not asking for the system to get turned on its head, I want to know what or if they're adding anything to the model. Like, for a shallow example, content to do with your FC/linkshell buddies who aren't your raid statics that don't need a perfect party of 4 or 8? Diadem and Aquapolis touched upon these possibilities but Diadem was... Diadem and Aquapolis is more like a novelty right now.
Yes, more is coming. How much more? I don't know. How well thought-out is it? I don't know. Will it be more of the same or make some innovations like PotD? I don't know. But what has been shown and talked about (or even not talked about) so far just doesn't grab me like it has others here because I personally am more interested in the specifics of content, rather than how pretty and new things look, and I think some of the other unimpressed people are too. Respect that like I respect people overjoyed about what they're seeing. Opinions, playstyles and preferences. The live letter didn't do much to put me at ease either, and saying "it's coming in 4.x" on anything doesn't sound like a good answer to me, because I know whenegicarbuncle glamours finally came in 3.x. I'm willing to give them more time to announce stuff a bit more closer to the expansion, but right now I'm just teetering on the fence with my sub, which as a legacy player who hasn't unsubbed yet, is a little somber.
I was expecting being 11 disappointed with it, but I'm like a 2 (because no new healer).
I'm actually very excited for the new expansion. It seems to be much bigger than the HW one. We're getting Ala Mhigo (for which I was ready to settle with just fine), but also the entirety of Othard! HW had a small region of Aldenard and it was already a pretty large expansion compared to most other MMOs. In Stormblood, we're getting an entire new continent the size of Aldenard. I mean, how great is that?
I love the aesthetics of the new expansion. While I wasn't hyped for Samurai before this recent reveal, because at first I thought we're getting only Ala Mhigo and Samurai fits more with Doma, so my thinking was that we should get it in 5.0 when we go to Doma, SE pleasantly surprised me with Doma in the upcoming 4.0, so now I'm stoked about it. ^^
And while I would have liked Dancer as healer, seeing as I main healer, I am fine with my SCH remaining my main because I still love playing it even after 3 years of playing this game.
I say, bring on the new expansion, I can't wait to sink my teeth into it! ^^
Im excited for stormblood, so much so that i will be pre-ordering, although in general i dont like the "Idea of pre ordering".
The reason i started playing FFXIV 1.5 years ago was because i was looking for a mmo that focused on story, large beautifull areas, many dungeons, bosses, raids, trinity based, regular updates, few bugs...
What i have seen so far showed me that squeenix are continuing to focus on these bases. And If the past history proves anything, we should still expect as time goes some few "stabs/tries" at different content like we saw with PoTD for example.
Tldr: not on a hype train, but very happy and excited for stormblood
10 new levels for Doh/DoL. New recipes. Additional housing, which means increased crafted furniture demands, and more far eastern furniture. I too tend to focus on crafting and they've said nothing yet that would warrant me giving this expansion an 8 for disappointment based on crafting/gathering alone. To characterize that as "lacking" when it looks to be more than what we receive at the start of 3.0 is suspect.
Disappointment is the wrong thing to ask for to be honest. Its more like that the hype just went away with the last Live Letter.
I will still buy the game, but hype? No not anymore. I am just concerned that the game will turn into the same system for the next 2 years. Roulettes for your tomes, 24man raid with trash and boss battles, 2 new dungeons every patch, only 4 raids every 2n patch...
I do understand many people to be excited and happy about. But I really want to remind them to think more than just the first few months after release and be more criticizing. Ofcourse everyone will have a new environment, new skill rotations, etc. Yet, we have to think what will happen in the next 2 years.
The quality of cutscenes is going to stay like this, the character creator will remain empty featured, the battle system will go through adjustments (not a revamp like getting rid of GCD and turning it into a Combo-system). The bard might remain "mage", while Machinist is still better to utilize for movement (since procs).
And to those who think to tell everyone not to salt around. I dont know whats wrong to be concerned about what will become and what will happen. Preparing for someones future (especially after playing since 1.x, 2.x or 3.x times) shouldnt be something to bad mouth about. In the end we all want the same, having fun in FFXIV. Its not always about complaining, its about improving the game and its features.
Why do people feel the need to argue in threads that they dont really care about anyway? If you are not disappointed or dont want to rate something that isnt out yet, why do some feel the need to argue endlessly. I am quite sure that its more than fine if you love everything so far and feel like this will be very good but please at the same time understand that people might feel another way too. I am quite sure that the OP is fine if you post a answer that you are not disappointed but why argue so much with her about things? I mean its completely subjective anyway and one mans treasure is another mans trash.
Well on topic:
I will wait with my final judgment after playing through SB but my hype for this expansion is 0. Fanfests are imo there to make one feel hyped and even though I enjoyed the look of the new continent and I know that the quests will probably be alright too I still cant shake the feeling that maybe they wont handle it right, so that it will feel like the Uldah situation all again.
Also having only two new jobs is a little sad and also that we have no new race..but at the same time I was fine with it as long as they improve the customization..yet we know now that there wont be much improvements anyway. Having not all of those fulfilled is fine since it can take quite the time to create it but doing nothing of them..thats just sad. They also already said that the normal pattern will stay the way it is. So no real change there too.
The talk about the battle system overhaul in the liveletter (?) also kinda hints that we wont get that big of changes anyway with means that it will probably stay mostly the same.
For me its just feels like we get more and more things in the cash shop..and that FF14 is profitable for SE and yet at the same time we get barely anything back. New continents and quests are something that is expected in any good MMO expansion so I cant really say that those are the reason that I would buy it now. And after some decisions in their main story I cant really feel exited about it anymore so the only thing left for me is the hope that we will get a better endgame in SB that is also good for the midcore or casual crowd since I dont raid.
I will buy it since I still enjoy things in the game and since I have some friends there that I like to chat with. And its not that I dont have things that I liked. Yet I just dont feel the hype that I had with HW.
Still extremely hyped for Stormblood! The new areas look awesome, I can't wait to meet the new characters, and oh my god the OST is going to be amazing. I am a tad disappointed with the lack of Ala Amigho stuff though. Also I understand that some people are disappointed and that's fine. I just hope that they wait till Yoshida releases more news about Return to Ivalice, battle changes, and all that good stuff. If not I hope they find a game they can enjoy again. :c
Is that all?(sarcastic but not in a hostile way) Lol sounds like it might as well be a remake. Thats a lot to be changed. I remember Yoshida saying something about 2.0 (level 50) being more in line with his ideal skill system.. I dont remember how it was quoted exactly but I also think I remember him saying he wanted it to have faster gameplay and to allow for more room to deal with mechanics and less tunnel vision problems trying to perfect rotation. Honestly, remake or not, that sounds like a huge deal to me and i cannot wait to see what he actually does.
I feel like that is going to be the biggest factor for me, in determining if I am happy with SB and the future of the game.
Complaints about mechanical things like loot lockouts or the basic core systems of the game in general got old 3 years ago though. An Expansion pack expands the content of a game, it doesn't completely rewrite the fundamental core of the game. Yet the OP and many others seem to think that it somehow can and should do just that, when it simply wasn't on the table at all.
It's like crying about the cadence of patch content updates.
I honestly think that what it generally comes down to is that some players have the expectation that FFXIV will be like other games that they like, instead of a thing unto itself. I think anyone doing that would be better coming to terms with ffxiv as it is.
7/10
I'm quite excited for Stormblood but I've very unsure of a few things. The biggest concern I have is that they're trying to do too much at once. I understand that quite a bit of content is probably is reserved for patches but an issue I had with Heavensward is that the world felt empty and hallow. There were tons of little locations I stumbled on while huning that I never knew were on the map because the MSQ had you on such a specific, short path. Not to mention some ascpects of the story fell super flat.
I just don't want see such interesting locations go to waste if that makes sense.
I'm not so pessimistic that I'll actually try and rate my enjoyment of the new expansion content when we still haven't even got all the info yet.
Though I can say if it continues this trend of HW, it'll probably be a 5. But I have a feeling it won't, we already got confirmation of new content coming in.
Eh, there are things I'm looking forward to:
- Going to Doma and hopefully learning more about Au Ra
- More inventory space (I swear to god, if this is only lipservice and they add a small amount and it doesn't affect retainers... this will quickly turn into a massive disappointment.)
- Intrigued by the combat system revamp
But also things I'm disappointed with:
- It doesn't look like there will be any significant changes to healers with the combat revamp. That combined with no new healing or tank job is very sad.
- No expansion of character creation customization.
- No real improvement to the housing system - just more of the same, which makes it clear SE isn't interested in actually making it better. Doubling decor limits is only a minor improvement that doesn't get to the root of the problems.
So... a 5? Somewhere in the middle.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd have to rate my disappointment a 1.
I'm currently playing this game to the detriment of other games I enjoy but have yet to finish because I continuously find myself logging into FFXIV instead. It would take quite a bit for me to be disappointed in an expansion adding even more content at this point.
I am excited however there are tons of missing information that I am sure that will be covered in the live letters leading to SB.
Glad we will have more inventory space.
Just hope they dont screw over tanks and healers with the battle system adjustments.
One big major issue is unused areas that were created in HW. Hoping for meaningful cities, where there are things to do other than go there once for MSQ and never step foot in there again.
All I was looking forward to was character customization all the character faces are ugly and character customization is limited...... the rest...don't care much. I'll probably get SB somewhere down the line when its price refects my dissapointment. There are other games I want to catch up on and enjoy for awhile.
I'de say...7
Was really hoping more infos, it feels like they saidmore about HW back then than about SB :/
Only 2 jobs, no new race....I guess they've been working on something else but what ?
Still hoping for some surprises ^^

I am not disappointed at all. I had expectations, and they were met and in some cases, went above. Quite happy for Red Mage. Samurai looks fun. Othard will make me want to play the expansion more than just sitting at a city and que for expert. Ala Mhigo did not hold my interest at all.
I'll just say this. Crying and whining actually helps. Atleast it is a way to do and change something, rather than sitting and being frustrated.
Oh and to those calling others not to be salty and crying;
Have fun farming your endless tomestone for the next 2 years.

I just want more information before I pre-order.
If I'm honest? 5.
I'm excited about the expansion and I know I'm very likely to enjoy it. I did, however, expect to see updates to the character customisation. I'm also concerned that feedback isn't being given to the developers from this forum - enhanced customisation has been a frequent request here for quite some time now. That it wasn't on their radar at all is...troubling. There still hasn't been any resolution to the awful way in which the European maid/butler promotion was handled either. Am I expected to just stomach never gaining access to a specific mount and the butler attire simply because I live in a European country?
0. Now if we're talking "how excited are you from 1/10"? 10.
Samurai being in the game and being a DPS, not a tank, was all I've wanted for four years since 1.0 launched. And they delivered. Not to mention the added surprise of going to Othard when I was sure this was going to be an Ala Mhigo only expansion. I'm more hyped than ever before.
Actually, expansions are a GREAT time to rework game systems. For one, it gives you a long time to develop and expand on changes and ensure that it fits into the game as a whole. For another, releasing sweeping changes packaged into an expac adds value to purchasing the expansion - critical when prices are so high as it is. Rather than feeling like you're just being charged for a slightly larger than normal patch when you buy an expac, you feel as though you're paying into a dramatically better game.
It also provides great marketing opportunities to lure in lost or new players.
0/10 - Can't get here soon enough~
1) We get to swim under water.
2) I will be buying the Tidus glamour outfit.
3) I will be laughing when I'm tanking and using my provoke macro that will just be 'AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!' and people potentially kick me.
I am not disappointed at all, I'm giddy for more lore/new classes/kicking ass, as well as using the huge wave of 'MUST PLAY DPS' to speed my Pld/Sch through the dungeons~

Umh, 5.
PRO:
'Revolution' by Uematsu seems another masterpiece: waiting for the full release.
SAM and RDM look pretty cool.
Far East seems great, love the art design.
Akihiko Yoshida seems involved in the dev. team again, somehow.
CONS:
No info about the new battle system.
No info about the new raid.
Too many glamour-related stuff an MMORPG player doesn't care about.
If they keep going with the same stuff (Tome and relic system especially) once again the game is literally dead already, considering how low are the numbers right now (with less than 200K active players overall)
Matsuno only doing a 24-man casual raid while he should easily replace Yoshi-P for good as director, unless he's on FF16 together with Itou.
