Let it be known, that I was MNK before Heavensward came out. Though if the new jobs are just as or more fun than MNK I'll switch anyway.

Think this was already said, but more unspoiled nodes. I'm hoping a better system could be put in place, I'd even prefer a level like system to give gatherers control over what they can gather rather than it being time constraints that will just be excessive coming into 4.0.
- More of the same. No new content types or focus.
I just really like to see game reiterate themselves, not just repeat old cycles under new skins. That doesn't mean throwing away old assets or lessons learned, but it does mean taking a less rigid approach to extension and exploration of the game's potential.- Overpruning.
It's only be a downward progression for WoW each time it's happened. I'd rather the game require some 24 combat keys and make them individually more useful, integral, significant, and (above all) fun than try to further trim dps down to damage-hoses, tanks to equivalent damage spunges, etc. To put this balance into a more concrete perspective: I'd like to see more reason to care about my Ninja poisons and Monk elemental fists, while perhaps merging abilities like Trick Attack and Sneak Attack into a 'bonus from stealth' applied to all Ninja abilities; Deliverance turned into a toggle from whenever Defiance is active (and the default stance upon swapping onto WAR, since it has no negative), Fell Cleave, and Decimate merged into the same slots as Inner Beast and Steel Cyclone, etc; Power Surge trimmed or (better yet) revamped and Wheeling Thrust and Fang and Claw turned to a shared slot that triggers the respective skill based on position or revamped as to be more than to have more than the interest of 'guess which hand the coin's in' with both hands open and facing you.- That SE will mess with playstyles in a way that further rigidifies rotations and niches job gameplay. They should be adding more lateral complexity and styles of play, not trimming and tightening them further.
While I might, say, want to see Wanderer's Minuet and Gauss Barrel modified or their lock-in duration / cooldown reduced, I don't want to see Bards suddenly become a full-fledged support centered only on songs for no reason other than "oh, we decided to push for enhanced class identity" (without a clear picture of what that would be in actual gameplay). I'd like to see more ways to play BLM than just Fire burn and briefest possible Ice regen, choices for SMN between caster AF spenders, pet buff spenders, pet attack spender, pet spenders (consume pet), etc., with an arsenal of pets that are viable both situationally and rotationally (through multiple rotational "builds"). I want to see skill caps and means of experimentation increase, rather than merely adding a few new moves to one's one and only opener, with the same old prioritizations thereafter until the fight ends.- No longterm plans for development or renewal of core systems, be that leveling, gearing, disciple integration, etc.
For me, if a piece of development doesn't provide information for or otherwise build towards a final goal for the game, whatever version number that may be in, it's wasting development time. I'd like for SE to think hard about what they're perfect game might look like, and start building towards whatever systems and parameters could make that possible.
This.
Has doing the leveling ever been much of an indicator that someone has learned their class? For example, I just had a "veteran" DRK who didn't know how or when to toggle Darkside, let alone hold to threat against his heals, a concept many fresh DRKs will understand upon reading the damn tooltip and a couple more loosely stationed pulls respectively.
There really are people who will preform more poorly with hundreds of hours of experience than someone newly on that character, having merely looked up the abilities on ffxivinfo or the like. Either they read their shit every time they get a new ability and figure out its implications, or they level jump to 60 and get to see the broader picture while figuring out their shit. The hours spent mean nothing when people don't even read, let alone test, their skills. At best, their time in DF will teach them its conventions, when and pretty only when they preforming at the average level or higher, as not to hold back those conventions.
4.0 flowing and finishing up like 2.0 where I am the ONE thing that can stop that evil super power. Dialogue saying there's other groups doing their part but I can't help/contribute to them. The Stormblood graphic depicts an army gathering similar to FFXI's military gathering with banners and such. I want to legitimately revolt against a superpower with a similar superpower I built up with other characters and not magicaly flown in to save the day with a dues ex-machina buff of anti plot-armor.
dropping ps3 support and not adding any of the previous blame it on ps3 things
Zero graphic updates (it's getting pretty dated), and that the combat updates will be a failure. Also lack of Viera would be scary.
"Here's your gear that you have to save up tomestones for, by the way there's weekly lockout, by the way you can only get 450 a week, please look forward to it"
I don't have any better alternatives and mentioning Final Fantasy XI or any other FF game really upsets 90% of people here, so...
World of Warcraft Player pandering with a level up potion which most if not all WoWfugees end up only playing for a week anyway
More emphasis on fluff content instead of say more trials and 3 dungeons.
"We'd like to do this but PS4 limitations :^)"
My biggest fear for FFXIV(the reason I am not hyped at all for this new expansion) is it is going to be like the content patches that gets everyone bored. I want to gear up my character, in FFXIV the only way to gear up is to run dungeons for the weekly cap and to raid. Dungeon every day at the same time. If you skip a day you might not get capped by the end of the week.
If would be nice if the current dungeons dropped gear upgrades, and I don't mean upgrades for your alts. If dungeon gear was relevant; running dungeons everyday would not feel like such a chore, if you got a piece of gear as well as currency it would feel a lot better imo.
I don't see the devs implementing something like this though. I fear they are going to keep the same tomestone grind and dungeon gear will remain glamour only or alt gear.
I fear more cash shop exclusives :(
My biggest fear? That they won't change the 2 ex dungeon/450 cap won't change.
Biggest fear? No Dancer Job
Just remove pointless Resistances tab from character menu and pointless PvP section from crafting log.
Constant repeat of everything we have.
Rewarding slackers punishing people who devote time to this.
New amazing tomestones every ridicilous 6 months killing all previous effort.
Big empty zones as usual with nothing to do asides from fates gathering and maps GG on that.
I'm guessing its just going to be Heavensward Reskinned.
Biggest fear: New Yda cloths in Mogstation
Oh wait! That WILL gonna happen. T^T
I'm with people afraid of the changes in battle system. They want to be more easy and more casual, I'm really afraid of that.
Slackers to you then is people who work hard for many hours in a real job, then play the game in whatever time they can spare?
Seems to me a slacker is the opposite of the above - oh that would include people who do very little except spend all their hours on here.
Biggest fear? No RDM.
Im afraid our so strong ilvl250 tome gears/weapons will be totaly useless after 4.0 like it happend to the ilvl130 gears.. ;(
We will probably get ilvl300 gears for a few gil from NPC shop, or getting a HQ set from Story-quests again.
One of the reasons why I dont waste my time anymore for those weekly tome cap just for gears... >.>
That there will be a lot of new skills for each class and not enough hotbar space or keybinds for all of them.
In HW, level 51 buyable gear was 115. i130 gear was only replaced by Aery drops (lvl 55) or quest rewards at lvl 56.
So, it's reasonable to think that i270 will be replaced around half-way through Stormblood.
However, buyable gear will be enough to progress through the storyline, so is it really worth it to spend time gathering a full i270 set ?
As i said, if they use the same pattern than HW, Last relic step, Creator savage and augmented shire gear will problably be relevant until 65 . I personnally doubt they would do a "hard reset" right off the bat. Either way i don't care. Once i hit 70, i'll completely forget i even had those i270 pieces.
Edit:
I forgot about this. This is one of my major concerns.
Biggest fear - SAM is introduced as a tank
first of al sry for my bad english
guess the admins not reading the forums
many players waiting for the viera for 4.0
yoshi p mentioned about a bunny male costume
i dont want to see a hyur or rog, aura or lala in men bunny outfit i want the real race, everyone wants the same thing, to play the viera
honestly Aura implementation was weird and they came from nowhere to a world without a lore thwy look good = yes but at the first drawings in the concept art
we dont have a elegant tall race viera would fit them perfectly
btw the new intro for stormblood is great i think that the new classes are Bladedancer, Chemist and a class that use a whip maybe tamer :D
in what way is that gonna stop tanks from having 150000 hp and only critting for 2000? except for Fell Cleave, which will probably be a 30k crit in that gear?
yeah i dont know either big numbas cash playaz?
The bloat will be real
i keep saying this but give me butt sliders or give me death. Fran. man. Fran. It just wouldnt be right right now, ya know?
Biggest fear just 1 extra slot of inventory space :p
The over simplifying of jobs i worry about.
Can't stop laughing, WHM got an equal and that's so good. That job was litterally overpowered since the 2.0, and so boring... god.
Those WHM crying since the 3.4 are really something since the AST buff was necessary to make the Noc stance worth it. Your job didn't get nerfed, it's still as good as it was, can't understand those fellow WHM crying everyday...
Have you ever tried to play AST on 3.0 when your stupid boring healer was overpowered ?
Let's swap roles now ! :)
I'm afraid of the new combat system they have planned. If it's gonna suck, I bet alot of people will be leaving the game.
Im not salty at all, i love AST as much as WHM.
You were just being a dick for no reason.
Oh yeah, forgot that giving your opinion is being a dick ! :)
Thoses WHM crying threads are annoying since the job didn't changed at all.
Since the part i quoted is pretty selfish ( "SE please you buffed a job that wasn't as good as mine but now it is, why u do dis ? :'(") and attacking my job from someone that apparently haven't played the AST back on 3.0 and only see the power of the 3.4 AST (basically someone that didn't suffer to play AST back then and can't understand the pain it was), yeah im bored of WHM complaning;
Finishing with this fact: stop crying your job still as good as it was god damnit
Biggest fear (that will most likely happen)
- Fake big promises of changes and new content
But to be more elaborate.
1) Repeat of the tome/dungeon/raid grind: Speaks mostly for itself. We've been doing it ever since 2.0.
2) Same hallway/straightforward dungeons: We all know it. Enter the instance, run through the only path to victory while killing every single mob without any effort. At this point, I just have a stream or youtube video on my other monitor while running through dungeons.
3) More braindead easy dungeon boss fights: For this however, I'd like to say that S-E occassionally create a good one. And I know for a fact that it is impossible to always create interesting and new bosses. And it's not like I'm looking for hard bosses, but bosses that keep the player on their toes. The final owl boss at the gubal library is a perfect example of how to do a good boss fight.
4) The land of Eureka = Diadem 2.0 (in terms of being another instanced timecapped zone): This one is my BIGGEST FEAR. I really want a large open zone to explore, hang out, enjoy the scenery and to do stuff. Without having to worry about a timer and party members wanting to benefit the "little" time they have.
5) Not enough story / character depth: I sometimes feel that the story lacks this at time. But to give S-E credit, they also do a good job at deepening bonds with some characters. In my opinion, the best story and character depth happened with the WoL venturing with Ysaile, Alphinaud and Estinien. I ended caring for each of them at the end. While I still don't really care for much of the scions.
6) More easy 24-man alliance raids: I want more Ozma. Seriously! Not to sound mean, but we've all been playing this game for long enough to understand what to watch out for and how to become better at our job. It's about time the game stops thinking we're babies. Challenge us for gods sake.
And finally an advice I'd like to repeat to S-E about bosses.
Use height/jumping in your damn gameplay! You did it once in 1.x with the White Raven battle!
Why are you not using this more! I fucking loved the fact that shit was happening at places you couldn't see. Dps dealing damage to Nael at the top floor of the staircase. Ranged and mages, dealing with falling meteors at mid-height, while tanks were dealing with golems at ground level. This gives so much replayability to a content as well. (See alexander battle)
