See, this is the hypocrisy that I'm seeing all over the forums as of late.

People will sit here in this thread and encourage a giant flying turtle... and yet when people who ask for personal wings to fly, sailor fukus, access to opposite gender gear, bike/motorcycle, egi glamours, different companions; heck anything vanity based on personal preferences/fantasies, they get flat-out told "no, go away" in varying amounts and intensities because it "ruins immersion."

Not saying the people who sit here defending a flying turtle have ever turned around and ridiculed other people for their crazy ideas (I'm sure a handful have though), but by their logic, no one is ever allowed to voice how outrageous they think an idea is in a thread specifically discussing it.

This flying mount thing is getting really out of hand.

OMG! It's happening! I made a thread months ago wanting a flying turtle lol.... so happy!

As far as he flies, I would guess he would move like the adamantoise pet perhaps? IE: Spin me like a record right round...

I think this is stupid.

I also honestly don't care. Let them add it, people who want to fly on a turtle can, and I can completely ignore that like the rational adult I'm not. Is this really what's going to break peoples immersion? There are so many immersion breaks in this game that I've long since stopped caring. The only time I'm immersed in an MMO is when going through content for the first time, after that immersion is broken. I simply cannot maintain my immersion when I'm killing Belladonna for the nth time this week, so I really cannot care less if someone is going to wiz past me on a flying turtle for all of 5 seconds.

Just give your character the ability to fly now. It's not like it can't get any more ridiculous at this point.

I still think that they should've gone this route for the flying adamantoise.

Lol, it really is. At this point it's gone so far that they should just slap flying on every single mount we have. Coeurl, Cavalry Drake, Elbst, Warlion, Warbear, Panther, Goobbue, and Behemoth along with the Unicorn and all the primal ponies.

Because people might still prefer riding a flying popoto over flying themselves, just like they prefer flying on a tortoise over a chocobo.

When in-game references and the game's lore references flying tortoises because of just the tortoises' shells being made of wind crystal, it is not "lawl so random".

It is not "lawl so random" when it references popular Japanese culture (Re: Kaiju and Tokusatsu movies).

That just gives game developers, tv producers, authors and anyone else in the entertainment industry an excuse to put out sub par material that makes no sense or is just completely ridiculous. Criticisms, if given constructively, let these people know when they took fantasy and just made it silly.

yes, even a fantasy or science fiction world has it's own rules. "it's fantasy" is no excuse for a flying adamantoise. adamantoise don't fly in this world. even a flying chocobo is ridiculous...

Silly, ridiculous ... so what? Whats wrong with that? A flying turtle is hilarious to me. That might just be me though but overall I guess I just don't understand the problem with things being silly, ridiculous. Then again, I never personally understood the immersion thing and it's ability to be broken. I am always aware I'm playing a game but that doesn't detract from the experience I get even when things become silly or weird or ridiculous. But once again that's just me lol.

You can't really trust Japanese developers with keeping the atmosphere of a game intact, was playing Monster Hunter Frontier and I saw people dressed up as anime characters or modern day jeans and jackets, etc. It's a subscription based game too. Honestly, as long as that doesn't happen I'm not too bothered, but that attitude of the forums seems to be "So what?", so it might end up like that.

It's a ridiculous excuse to make mounts impractical of flying able to fly just because it's a fantasy game. There's limitations to what kind of fantasy are we talking about.
SE should just leave mounts incapable of flying as is. Also no, I highly disagree on making characters fly on their own.

I just hope SE ignores ignorant requests to make land-only mounts like Sleipnir, Fenrir, ARR Beast Tribe mounts etc. able to fly.

Then why can't we just create a giant cannon the size of Eorzea and use it to blow up the Ascians, and then create a portal to Zodiark and proceed to blow him up with this cannon? Right, because there's limitations to the things we can do in the universe. Magic follows the laws of this universe. I'm not saying the turtle and my theoretical giant cannon are comparable, but there are limitations to the universe no matter how you spin it.

there are no limitations. other then what yoshi p and crew dont want in game like dead FF characters because they feel it will ruin other games for players, or summons looking closer to the real versions as it would cheapen them.

a fantasy world is whatever the developers want, they could make a cannon that one shots everything but that would be counter productive as they need a story to draw in players and content to do so.

ooo look a new primal? nah no problem just blow it up with my cannon.

actually my whole arguement stems down to the game isn't real we are we can put rules in there and then ignore them as they mean only what we let them.

There is an NPC at Camp Tranquil who mentions contacting the guild to have them cast Float on the turtles... There you go, we had an explanation for this in beta...

He probably saw that there's a flying tortoise out on Azys La and wanted the adamantoise to fly.
