the truth is even HNM camping wasnt as bad as people made it out to be in ff11. The problem was lazy people that didnt want to show up and put in the time on the HNMs. I claimed numerous HNM/Kings and guess what i didnt use a bot. FF11 was a game that rewarded people who put time, effort and strategy into the game. ff14 is becoming the lazy mans game. w/ nothing but instance raids planned int he future. If a game only has raids then why not just play a damn console RPG because playing w/ the same 4-8 people is not a MMO experience.
This is a stupid idea
Wasn't the no-claim system limited to multi-party dynamis-style semi-instanced content?
- ftw
Saying NO to this isn't going to change anything. People said no to Auto-attack, the aggro icon, enmity icon, no to the raid dungeons, no to exclamation points for quests, and guess what? They didn't take any of those things out, they modified them a little bit but that's it. We're getting this new claiming system no matter what, they may tweak it, but that's it.
Blockaid doesn't solve anything the fact is that this system inevitably dumbs down open-world content. Saying that it doesn't matter and open-world content sucks anyway is the same as giving up. We should be able to do better.
It really doesn't make sense for them to say no claiming at all just so that multiple party alliances can fight the same mob. I have an idea how about making it so alliances can claim mobs >.> seems obvious right?
This makes me wonder if we really are getting all the information from that famitsu article. However, if we didn't say anything about it they very well may implement a system like this and effect a future in xiv free of open-world content, so excuse me if I must complain bear in mind i put up with all the crap talk about other features up to now and i've only complained about two things including this.
I am glad to add that your petty request to not add a system no one really knows how its going to work will go on deaf ears to the developers. Just like AA, emnity icon, fiend level, HP bar, etc.
Please, you are looking like ignorant people if you keep refusing a change you dont know nothing about. Please stop.
One problem with the current system is not getting SP for multiple mobs, only the one you have tagged. While I can see this becoming a leveling pseudo-exploit, it's incredibly annoying to not get full SP credit for my own leve mobs. This, I believe, is a step in the right direction.
They're not getting rid of open world content.

And don’t forget about public dungeons, because we sure haven’t! :)
These quotes came from Matsui and Yoshida.Quote:
- Notorious Monsters
We will continue to introduce new NMs on a regular basis, although numbers may be modest for patches boasting large-scale features such as dungeons. Players can look forward to engaging in more epic struggles and acquiring spectacular spoils.
The ability to help someone without being in a party. Instead of standing on the sidelines curing them, I can join in, help them defeat the monster and then be on my way. The possibility of Mega NMs, monsters that require a ton of people to take down in the field or other open field group activities.
EDIT: Also no one truly knows, what this new system will offer over the current one because the Devs haven't talked to us about it. They haven't said anything about it in forums, so obviously they're not ready to talk about it. I'm sure they will present their ideas around this system when they are ready to talk about it.
howabout you can join in by being in their multi-party alliance. It's stupid to say that this is the only way to have high member count content.
How so? The only way I can attack something that someone else is attacking is being in the same party as them. With the new system, I don't have to be in a party nor do I have to talk to a NPC to be put into a special group to attack certain enemies.
Anyway there could be an underlying reason why they're changing the claiming system, the current system may not be able to do what they have planned for the future.
I don't know, maybe because this game is different from XI. They can't put in a mailbox or delivery system because of server issues. Maybe it's the same thing here.
I said this earlier but maybe you missed it because I edited in later:

I have every right to disagree with the limited info we have on this subject.
I agree that maybe there is something big that we're missing, but I can not for the life of me think of what it may be. All possibilities that I can think of can be done with the current system. And within the current system, it's much easier to balance content and combat player griefing. That's my main concern.
Anything is better than the current "1 enemy party only" system of claiming.
I think they doing this mostly for open world content such as campaign. Obviously if they add large scale battles it would be super annoying if you ran around and everything was claimed. Atleast that's what I'm hoping for.
It's a decent idea when applied to more specific content, but will have major flaws if applied to general leveling.
as said before, why not just use the /help option from XI?
I have to disagree unfortunately Miz. The system is already set in stone and the players is the ones who decided to go with this change via player poll. Doesn't matter how many say no now we are getting it, and I am happy for the new system because I really abhor the currently claiming system.
I miss MPK.... lol
Alot of you here, have valid arguements, and alot of you are talking out of your backside. If you have never played an MMO that has a syatem similar to what the devs are talking about you have a right to tell use how it works. I have played a few. I am reading post of players who obviously have not, and are trying to tell us how it works. If you havn't experienced it, shut your useless pie hole.
I am not gonna mince words here, because the lodestone is chalk full of post of players posting there ignorant assumptions as if its fact. I have thoroughly enjoyed MMOs that combines instaned scenarios with the system the devs mention.
No one here is asking you if it works, It if factually proven that it works by the several MMOs that do it. It works for raids, open world NMs and XP mobs.
The problem here oils down to 2 things.
1. Most are scared of change in general here.
2. Too many here want this game to fail by trying to make it FFXI-II. If you want FFXI, its still live, gtfo and go play it.
I rather have FFXIV as a FFXIV-2 right now rather then the "In-shambles-state" it was at release.
Besides, FFXI is the best source for this to work from, instead of using other mmos as foundations for ground build.
The huge success from FFXI didnt come from WoW...or some other random BS mmo.
FFXI-II....lame excuse.....we still running around in Eorzea...
sure the hell dont look & feel like Vana'diel to me....
So please stop with the *** FFXI-II, if you want FFXIV so much less FFXI-style SE Must
remove of the primary things in the game.... and that would be the races, and completly redesign them...
Thats what you FFXI-II haters keep forgetting. (But noooo, you want that to stay intact do you?)
Or just to screw around even more, completly remove Chocobos & get Tigers instead as mounts.
No all i see is a bunch of true "Final Fantasy" haters.
Because by the time its implemented, and we find out it sucks, it will be too late. I would imagine changing the claiming system requires multiple changes to the coding system that can't easily be reversed (by the programmers employed by SE I mean, not normal programmers).
I'm not sure why everyone is deathly afraid of bots in this game. If bots have half the lag as everyone else, it's still a fair claiming system lol. Whoever gets the miracle luck of the draw and their battle command actually registers instantly wins.
Also, I think everyone is forgetting something: I thought the entire point of making 2/3 of the game server side and subjecting us to the lag by having each action/menu selection travel the world twice was to diminish the impact of duping and botting.. since it's obvious that it doesn't really help with botting at all, the entire thing was an exercise in toolery.
When SE finishes implementing battle mechanics to the point where things like TP feed matter on high level NMs, the everyone and their grandma being able to hit a mob thing is going to destroy battle strategy. As someone else had said, they'll just end up needing to make every outside NM a tank and spank affair.
So, here's how I would propose to change the system:
1 party/alliance with claim only.
How the battle for claim goes down: No more instant claim. All mobs are engaged "white" until sufficient enmity and damage has accumulated to decide a "claimer". The non-winning claimers are force disengaged and have their enmity stripped.
1 shotting or killing an unclaimed mob will result in SP and loot rewards, as intended.
Something that encourages competition but can't be easily botted, and allows a higher degree of consistency and fairness for endgame camping.
What Drac says is true,we did do a player poll, infact if not mistaken i think we did 2.
Alot of things were voted on & hence the changes being made because of the majority of votes from players all over the world.
If you missed the poll...shame not our problem.
Besides, even if the claim system is implemented it can change if SE realise the
players hates it so bad or there's a major problem with it.
Anywayz, id like to try it first thou .
When someone can give me some very clear details right from the Dev team I will make my opinion.... I don't know how anyone can vote against, or for this with no information what-so-ever. (unless I missed some kind of Dev post).
Anyone else for holding their judgement and giving this Awesome Dev team a chance to explain a system they have not even announced yet?
Agreed we DO NOT want this system.
Hopefully we hear about it in more detail soon, all we have is 3rd party notes on it isn't it?
i say no to the claiming system, though i don't really want nm's and hnm's that i need to sit around to claim. rather it be farming mobs for pop items and instances yes, but i still want competition, and still want things like sky and sea, with nm's that keep poping like our nm's we have now. i don't want it all instances, make nm's pop all day long quick, give them low drop rates, make all the mobs around them or with them drop items that help with drop rates, collect enough of them to maybe give it a max of 20%drop rate or whatever. make it competition but without any of the sitting around and waiting.
the claim system itself is bad, even with normal mobs. anyone play allods? sounds like the same system, if people are on u'r camp u'r basically fighting for mobs, mage starts nuking mob as a mele goes running to it, who ever made biggest dent gets the exp and kill. i don't like this, even if it shares the kills and drops fairly, it creates a i'm here at a camp u'r at and i'ma still stay and kill u'r stuff mentality. it's not helping others, it's taking others stuff, if people over camped in ffxi, this just makes it even easier to mess with people.
seems like a cop out system made cause they can't make 2 type of claim systems, 1claim 1 group is how it should be, if i'm killing the buffalo nm? other groups can come in and start doing damage to it and steal the drops? that don't work for me, and if they come in and both get drops? that is weak too. all instanced? this is gonna be horrible. but i'm looking forward to seeing what the larger scale endgame will look like, this is what i'm after, this is what i expect to be top notch and decider of games fate either way.
so ...lol NO for claiming system, no for all instanced, no for waiting for pops for nm's and claiming wars with bots. yes to the rest, fix what we had in ffxi to not need these things ...don't scrap the best things of them ...
You cant nitpick that, if you didnt like the options then maybe you shouldnt have voted back then.
instead of complaining now you should have done it back then for the "Option-less" poll.
But yes i agree, the poll didnt let us pick much and so here we are bickering
over details that could possible change over time.
We also did answer the question "Do we want an Auction House" and this is a relevant as anything else, we still dont have it.
I for one couldnt care less for an aution house at this point.
For all we know we might be getting an Aution house where set items are for sale & we can place various bids on things.
Dosent mean we ourselves can put up anything for any price. (We dont know until they show us what they have planned)
Anywayz, the point i was trying to make, let them show us firs then discuss whats good & not.
Test server maybe? In-game experimental area?
