Just Curious why SE never took a vote from players on what we want in Cash Shop?

When I first started this thread it was suppose to be about us having a right to vote. Something we in America are quite familiar with I am sure. I never in a million years figured players don't want or need any rights such as been suggested in this thread. I never imagine this turning into a whine fest about having to buy items when I clearly understand you do not have to buy. The main concern of this thread was if we the players might be given a chance to maturely and intelligently vote for what we do and do not want to see in a cash shop. A consensus on items would be appreciated.

If the majority of players wants special minions locked behind a paywall then I would concede and let it go. Of course I have the option of not liking that decision and just not subbing. But this thread was never about not subbing or being forced to pay to a cash shop. It's about voting. Please try your best to get back on topic and focus. I do think it's important that we look at the topic from that angle. It does in fact seem to be the least hostile approach and one SE has used from time to time in the past. I for one would like this game to continue to grow and succeed. Are players concerned that without a cash shop this game will go bust?

Because the players don't always know what's best. It would most likely turn into demands for p2w items.

The community did not want the cash shop, they wanted fantasia potions and server transfers, a paid service most online MMO's allow without requiring a cash shop as a medium.

Though i do find it amusing you call that person out for using the term 'white knight' yet call him a spoiled teenager in response which is an ad hominem in of itself. Please grow up yourself if you cannot articulate a proper response to an argument ongoing. And as for the whole "Show me proof." part of your argument, that is a fallacy also as the requirement of factual evidence is on the accuser, not the accused. You cannot just say "Show me proof" when you have none for his argument being false, that is not how discussions work.

Edit: Also terms=/=term, implying he 'threw' around several terms besides the singular one you called him out for. Please use the correct statement.

You seem to be missing my point entirely, People did not specifically ask for the cash shop, they wanted a place to buy things like fantasia potions and sever transfers and name changed like you stated, but as i clearly pointed out they wanted those things like a paid add on service on the website, they did not want a cash shop that sold exclusive minions or mounts, just a place where character essentials like stated above could be purchased. However you seem to assume that people wanting those things explicitly states they wanted some form of cash shop, many other games offer these services, like name changes and server transfers as a paid service on their websites, for a cost of course but they were always a separate service from things like in game exclusivity items.

Services like those should be standard practice by now and people in no way asked for a cash shop, all that was mentioned was that they were willing to pay for the ability to have access to such things.

Really? 5 dollars for a minion, 25 dollars for a mount is -huge-? Get real!

Fact is, since the Cash shop was introduced, we've not had a -decrease- in the amount of content we get in each patch. So, no, there is no problem there. Our sub fee grants us access to the game, nothing more. If they want to charge for something on the side, that's their prerogative, If you, as a customer do not like the additional service offered, you do not have to opt in to purchase said service. By your standing opinion, it's wrong for them to offer two different options for service account as well right? Because you pay your 12.99 service fee, you deserve everything that's in the 14.99 fee as well, right? Wrong.

The thing that people in the NA/EU playerbase don't seem to be capable of grasping or comprehending is that just because you pay a subscription fee, you do not have a right to control or dictate what they, as a company do.

Yeah, but isn't it a bit early to say whether they're including more or less than previous patches?

I'd like to see what fantastic new content the cash shop is funding for us. We were getting high quality, large updates every 3 months without it. I wonder if they're going to increase the frequency of the patches or the size of them, or, more likely, just divert dev time to the more profitable cash shop.

Lol, it's fine, that's what I assumed you interpreted it to mean.

I actually stopped my sub for this game last week (though the sub runs out in like 3 months, lol. I've always paid 6 months at a time). Because the core of the game is now battle, dungeons and the gear treadmill. Used to be levelling, economy and community.

But that's another topic, and I'm aware that I sound like an old man shouting at clouds. :s

While you and I disagree on one aspect of the former game's focus (economy), the sentiment is the same. I've been watching my days tick down until it runs out less than a week from now, and I'm just not compelled to pull the trigger on renewing. Even Warlords being mostly meh hasn't made me seriously consider coming back to XIV. Loading up the cash shop the way they are, using development time we already paid for, is a slap in the face. There's a lot of things that have turned me off over the last year or so, and it's sad, because YoshiP had it on such an upswing.

I'll be deciding on the sub myself soon once the renewal comes up, a little after 2.45 hits. I don't trust them with the cash shop, and I'm bored with the treadmill/atma/arguing.

The game is already a treadmill with dungeon only aspect.

Cash shop has nothing to do with that, You don't have to purchase anything and if you are mad cause people go and purchase things its their choice shouldn't get mad at people spending their money they earn themselves which didn't come out of your pockets on stuff, You don't want to spend money that's fine but to bully and threaten SE to unsub because you don't like it is sad way to get your way and not just you anyone who says that.

I agree on treadmill direction but not the cash shop thing, cash shop wont affect you in anyway, you can earn the items or you can buy them.

Also who says they will put items in cash shop that are even in the game or lesson the amount of items we get in game because of cash shop.

Its speculation and rumors spread and people flip out for nothing.

Ragnarok Online had a subscription fee and even had a cash shop which was called Kafra Shop the game was popular and lasted a long time.

One more thing I think the idea of the cash shop is basically, if they do a event that nobody was around for and they make new events they can put the stuff from those events into cash shop while they make new stuff.

If someone misses the event and they never had that same event again aka if they decided to not do lightning returns again then they could do throw it up.

I'm glad they didn't ask for a vote. Often I find people spend their votes without fully thinking it through and knowing what they truly want. For example, if I had to choose between exp-boosts and cool armour skins (same stats as another piece of gear) on the store, I'd probably vote exp boosts, expecting the armour, since it's probably already been planned or made, will later be made available via an in-game trial. But a lot of other people would instantly denounce a +100% 1hr exp boost as a hellish step towards P2W and then that same armour will no longer be made available by any way besides forking over some more real cash.

Right now they have neither on the store. No boosts and no cooler-than-most armour. Just some novelty items. And in this case I really respect the amount of restraint SE is showing. Yet despite their intentions and efforts, this cash-shop is still getting flak because of a stigma that was attached to other cash-shops 5+ years ago. Only the worst devs will abuse it for true P2W these days. Those games are not successful.

Personally I can't speculate about what they might have added if we voted but based on what is there right now. I would vote like this:

Yes to:
Fantasia
Name Change
Server Change
Past Seasonal Event items

No to:
Mounts
Minions
and anything else that is on there exclusive to the cash shop and not available to earn in game.

I don't get why ppl keeping bring up the p2w argument on a thread that I started and isn't anything about p2w. It's really about exclusivity in the cash shop that I am against. Anymore p2w comments brought up on this thread and I am just simply going to ignore them. I only care about the stuff that we have so far and if some of it might not be there if we had the right to vote it not to.
