To be honest, this isn't fun anymore. Yes, it's optional for me to get my novus but it really is just not fun AT ALL. I thought they said their focal points on this was to ensure that the players would enjoy themselves. Who enjoys farming for alexandrite? I'm not asking for my novus by tomorrow at all and I have no problem with being patient but being BORED is not what I pay my subscription for.
More like, WELCOME TO JRPG LOGIC.
to the OP: Get used to it, because you'll be sitting in that seat for a good bit; While you're sitting, I'd like to tell you of a story Circa 2004 FFXI where LV Limit Break items to exceed the level cap dropped at less than 1% drop rate and were in very dangerous areas at the time. You'd be lucky to get a drop that same day.
I would say be grateful, but seems like this may be your first time with something like this. So condolences are extended to you while you learn not everything is handed out to every person and that not everyone's work/effort is counted as equal in the world of an MMOJRPG.
Because it's boring right? Exactly his point.Quote:
Who's farming? Because I'm not.
No. It wasn't. If I thought that was the only way I would have stated it. I'm aware of myth and dailies to get them. Don't mistake interpretation for implying. I'd rather not get into a "who can deconstruct a paragraph to skew a point just to argue either" so in case you were going to, please spare me and know that my point is that fate grinding for them is so boring I can't fathom why it is attached to some that that souls be entertainment. We are both on the same page. Neither of us like it and we are both avoiding it. Let's NOT be two people on the internet arguing over nothing.
I laugh at ffxiv drop rates.
Go play original phantasy star online and put thousands of hours into it. (addicting game for its time, still good todsy)
Then come back and enjoy things here. Lol
Weapon drops that were 1/50,000
Or worse, some were from rare mobs, so the rare mob had a 1/5000 change to spawn, then it's best drop would be like 1/200,000 and xrazy shit like that. And one who put good time into production knows what I'm talking about lol. Although yes it can be annoying from time to time, it's not bad.
I started a forum thread offering the idea of using EXP accrued post 50 (or post cap) on things like Atma, Mirror, Gear thats on the general discussion. Refined into something like spendable Paragon Levels (from Diablo 3). I think that if we could do any of the game's content and work towards most of the Casual-esque goals then many players would be happier with playing.

Just one more QQ'er over rare drop, get over it! It's a MMO and we need rare drop or wtf is the point in playing an MMO in the 1st place!!!!!!
I so look forward to the day when I walk around town and see 10 other summoners wearing the exact same gear I am wearing. So fun!
You can only glamour what you acquired yes? If there is nothing rare to be acquired, there is no point to glamour in the first place.
As much as some would like to deny it, there is a little bit of both. Back in vanilla wow where purples actually meant something, there was some sort of prestige attached to players with epic or legendary gear. For many players, that was the motivation to keep playing, or to get better, or both to achieve the same as that player. I think that anyone that denies that MMOs are devoid of any competitiveness are delusional. From tiered raids to pvp to dps meters (in other games), I think it is painfully obvious that this concept is prevalent in this genre.
Its a simple concept - carrot on a stick, nothing complicated about it. I'll be the first to admit hanging the carrot on an rng stick is not the best way to do things but the fact is that no matter the stance SE takes, its going to upset some people and potentially cause them to leave. I find the balance to be pretty decent, the amount of rng that is thrown at players is much less than some other games out there.
Ah I expected someone would say that. Not surprised it would be you, when you can't even comprehend the simple definition of optional.
The point (for me) is community, progression, and fun.
Not grinding away at the same boss over and over again so that I have a 1/100 or 1/1000 chance of getting the next ilvl item and progessing vertically upward.
There is no problem with putting ultra rare vanity items in the game that hardcores want to go after so that they can show them off to the community.
There is a problem with a vertical progression game that keeps releasing the next "tier" of equipment behind increasingly grindy content.
That's not a good way to retain players.
